Analog I/O board RGB levels
I randomly stumbled upon this post about RGB levels. I don't have the equipment to test this on my own mister. Could anyone shed any [more] light on this? https://twitter.com/BartBrinkhuis/status/1414698589788459008 Today I've learned that the MiSTer IO Board outputs 1/4 less green on the VGA/RGB lines. Check for yourself. I measured my PVM on the ...

Re: MiSTer Update Only Update What You Need?
It does not look like filtering has been added yet. My guess is the filtering would be different.

Yeah, let's just say that these auto-generated theoretical modelines, come up with overly "enthusiastic" values for real world hardware  I believe after a linux update sometime back in summer (?), you can now [read/parse/get-EDID] from inside MiSTer's console, so it's easier to tailor modelines to each particular panel's capabil...

Re: MiSTer Downloader Tool
The thread in which I attempted earlier to make the case for package management was summarily closed by sorg, so that's where any effort on my side stopped. I actually had dpkg working. If the project maintainer doesn't like it, then that's his prerogative and I stopped my efforts. I'm now focusing on "consolizing" AO486 instead. I still...

Re: MiSTer Update Only Update What You Need?
Yes, it’s a core filter, not a game filter, so for Arcades, that’s going to be the case. I seem to remember that there’s a setting in update_all that doesn’t download the Alternatives? Not near my MiSTer at the moment, so I might be mis-remembering. Using the old update_all downloader mechanism (before the new downloader), this worked for me in up...

Re: mt32-pi HAT that doesn´t turn on!
Have you tried powering the pi separately? Turn the mt32-pi switch to "off" and plug in a separate psu to the pi.
If that doesn't work, will the pi power on without the mt32-pi hat, and using a separate psu to the pi?

Ahh, there might be a fix for the mouse problem now. Latest Linux update from Sorgelig mentions: - input: pace control for mouse messages (fixes mouse in ao486). Could someone test this? I plan on testing it myself, but going to work now. Mouse works in Scorched Earth at 360x480! No more crazy mouse moving and random clicks. (640x480 resolution st...

Re: VHD works on MiSTer, but can't be mounted on my PC?
It looks like the vhd is 400mb, not 500mb as stated.
I tried creating a new 400mb vhd, then copying the footer from it and appending it to the 98se vhd. Windows didn't like it (much) either. It showed up as an uninitialized disk.

Is there a good way to setup a testbed for the updater in linux? Using disk img files instead of actual sd cards would be preferred.

Re: MiSTer Downloader Tool
Further investigation is ongoing in order to fix the root cause of the problem once and for all. One of the current hypothesis would be that there is a race condition when there is a big amount of data being written to the SD before a reboot. Interesting that even with the sync calls it is an issue. When using iomega zip disks back in the day, run...

I miss the customizability of the "classic" updater. I hope more fine grained options, such as what is downloaded, are added before the main updater is changed to use this.

v=loglevel=4 usbcore.autosuspend=-1 usbhid.jspoll=1 xpad.cpoll=1 Made both a gamepad and keyboard work, but the inputs are kinda weird, like randomly sluggish and delayed, or some of them seem to not register entirely. edit: Turning on fast USB polling via a Script breaks this again, no kb or gp functionality. A couple questions:
Is this connected via analog i/o board vga or hdmi direct video to vga?
Do you have the ao486 OSD vsync setting set to 60hz or variable?

I wonder if the shaking is like what I have seen. When running at hooked up to a LCD [lower than native res] (tested ao486 core), or an OSSC (tested nes, snes, genesis cores), I could never get the sample/phase to match up (moving interference patterns). When running on the LCD at native res, it was more stable, but I did get artifacting like shown...

Re: Unable to sync any Bluetooth controllers on my MiSTer
Also I usually tell people to not use update_all to update the linux since continued writes after the linux image writes without a reboot can corrupt the linux image. If the linux image is updated, the update.sh script updates linux fully right at the end and reboots immediately after. This is critical. I have helped about a person or two a week w...

Re: Question about the menus
Not sure about hiding the menu on HDMI only. A possible different approach could be to remote in and use MiSTer Batch control (MBC), which is what Super Attract Mode uses to load cores. Caveat that I have not tried this myself. https://github.com/pocomane/MiSTer_Batch_Control https://github.com/mrchrisster/MiSTer_SAM Looks like many systems have bu...

Did a bit of search for doom snes rng info but didn't get much. There seems to be quite a bit about doom in general, using a fixed 256 entry table, but the snes port may not be using that? Re: Feature request: Children Friendly/Kiosk/Party-Mode Menu
If a "children friendly" experience is desired, there are, perhaps, some arcade titles (at least on the alternatives / homebrew side) that are getting included in a default configuration (at least the .mra files, even if not using update_all) that should perhaps be excluded, or at least hidden?

The autosave topic has been rehashed a few times. It seems like at this point it would need to be a new dev with interest, to implement something themselves, which may or may not makes its way into the core mister framework.

Re: MiSTer Multisystem - All-in-One System
My guess if we ever did get optical media support, is it might be handled through some sort of abstraction layer. Perhaps not too dissimilarly from how mt32 is handled, whether through the Linux subsystem (sort of like midilink), or an external device (e.g., raspberry pi). Cores then could, perhaps, only need to talk to that one interface, and the ...
