Re: 0MHz DOS Collection 2024.03.20 Released
This script and collection works very nicely on the whole. Many thanks for pulling this together. Wolfenstein and Commander Keen brought back memories. :D Great to play the games and shareware I bought back in the day. Could Cosmo's Cosmic Adventure be added, it had a really annoying jaunty tune ;-) I tried Worms and this game crashes to a dos prom...

Flight Sim Toolkit - lots of win3.1 apps to design maps, terrain, flight models and aircraft then fly them with the same engine used for AV8B if I remember correctly in VGA and SVGA
I spent a lot of hours having fun building my own flight sim and testing planes.
From memory not always the most stable but it was fun.

Re: Wishlist of Cores You Would Like to See in the Future
I recently got back into MiSTer, I am amazed at what it can do now, Thank you to all the developers. I would love to see: Star Force by Tekhan - great tune and shooting fun Astro Blaster - great multi stage variable shooting fun, warp mode, refuelling, secret bonuses Space Firebird - great shooter, loved the curved track and warp Implementation of ...

It's on my to-do list but a long way off (still got to get the previous generation of Sega/Gremlin stuff finished before I that) so I'll not be bothered if someone else gets there first! Hi Jimmy, This is a great machine, one I encountered on a ferry to France, I could not play it enough and is a go to game for Mame alongside Galaxian. Is it getti...

Re: MAME CRT Rotation
This is odd, I am starting to wonder if something changed in the MiSTer framework that prevents this from working on the analog output. What I Now you that say it, I checked some vertical games last week also (not structured because I only have a horizontal TV) and I was wondering that the flip option only worked digital and not analog. Q-Bert was...

Re: SNK Ikari Warriors Arcade Core
I've had a few people ask me about these. So bottom line, I'm in no rush to make these, as parts are super hard to get right now. I'll be doing the prototype soon and I'll get some pics, but the final versions will be specifically ordered metal joystick boxes that cost a ton, so the final stick price will be above $500 USD, if not a LOT above $500...

Sorry for pissing on your party guys, but can you inform me where one can source an OG LS-30!? There's this recent HORI concept incorporating a rotary stick, but a surviving LS-30 one can get hold of is akin to buying the Mona Lisa ;) I don't know where you would find an original easily but I have Ultimarc rotary encoders on the sticks in my cabin...

Re: Please add Flip Option - Centipede, Lady Bug & Gorf
Hi Zeosstud, I would also like to play these games in portrait mode. See this thread. https://misterfpga.org/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=179&p=1976&hilit=gorf+rotate#p1976 Given that these games flip for cocktail play it should be possible to patch the rom to setup the screen for P1 to display the same as P2 but it is beyond my coding. I might...

Re: The Result of My Search for a Great MiSTer Display
Does this monitor rotate to portrait both ways so Gorf and Centipede will be playable in portrait mode as my Dell only rotates one way? The Asus Pro Art PA248QV comes with a stand that rotates 90 degrees in either direction, but if you have an existing monitor you already like you can probably save money by buying a VESA arm mount instead. Good Ca...

Re: Rotate option
What I remember is that some arcade cores expect the vertical blank at the other side of the display, which is why it wouldn't be trivial to change the direction. ...but Gorf has a cocktail mode where the game either way ina 2 player game so why is it not possible to rotate this output for P1 the same way as for P2? As the display code exists in t...

Re: Flip / Rotate Mode Consistency especially Gorf
Sorry to hear that after QBert was fixed.
Given Gorf has flipped modes in both directions for cocktail I thought this might be reasonably simple.
Perhaps this could be done with a rom hack instead.

This would be an interesting core to add if somebody could.
6502 based circa 1983 so a Vic20 competitor but with some nice graphics effects especially Pacman clone "Crazy Pucker" with a border on screen.
I would be interested to compare to other same era machines.

Re: LED Animation Controller for MiSTer
To piggyback off MeduZaPaT, we were able to successfully build the application in a Docker environment and transfer it to the DE-10 Nano and run it in the Linux OS. From the command line, all operations appear to be working properly. Two main questions remain: 1) Is there a preferred way to distribute Linux binaries/libraries for MiSTer? 2) Anothe...

Re: New Camputers Lynx 48 & 96K Core for MiSTer
What was the killer app for the Lynx? Did it have one? The 2 games demonstrated are not the best, probably coded in Basic. I had a Lynx around the 2000s but the software was so rare it was not worth me keeping it a sit could not hold my interest. I had most of the 80s machines available in the UK but sold them for this reason. The Vic20 is the best...

I suggest that you check the USB ports still work with another device.
Could the USB hub have been dislodged?
Try disconnecting the hub and reconnecting it.
Try a memory stick that lights up or another simple device.

Re: Flip / Rotate Mode Consistency especially Gorf
I have looked into this further and it is possible with a little effort as demonstrated by using cocktail cabinet mode. Gorf and Moon Cresta both have cocktail cabinet modes and are able to rotate the display the other way for Player 2 so the vertical refresh timing comments above are not the constraint. The original game and the core can do this w...

I think it is a temporary fix to get it working.
Coin and P2 is not supported at this time although they register in the test mode.

I ran it with overlays on a Dell 2001 FP 1600x1200 monitor last night and it is almost perfect.
I tested it by placing a Minestorm overlay over the MiSTer display to compare overlay sizes.
Make sure you have any monitor stretch / fill functions off

Re: The VIC 20
Yes but does your MiSTer have a lovely Vic20 Keyboard with PET keyboard font on sculpted keys (never produced like that but cool) and off white case with Tan coloured function keys? There have been conversions of The C64 to Raspberry Pi so no reason not to put your MiSTer into The Vic20 :-) The Vic20 also has licenced some more of the old games. Th...
