I have this one:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B087PG2LVY/
It can be powered by a wide range of voltages, gives about 10W with 12V. It has a 3.5mm jack and also Bluetooth. If a device connects to it via Bluetooth it automatically switches to that input so you can use it both for MISTer and as a Bluetooth speaker.

video_mode=13 works for me.
With video_mode=8 the screen is squashed horizontally.

Re: USB HDD Spinning down
Great news: I finally managed to have my USB HD spin forever. Disclaimer: I did not invent the wheel, I just tweaked the spokes in order for the wheel to spin smoothly under MISTer. I used the following web page: https://askubuntu.com/questions/39760/how-can-i-control-hdd-spin-down-time Using hdparm seems to be the best way to do it but the uSB HD ...

USB HDD Spinning down
I am trying to prevent my HD spiining down but I cannot use hdparm as WD HD do not support commands to change the timeout. Instead I want to use crontab as described in https://askubuntu.com/questions/39760/how-can-i-control-hdd-spin-down-time near the bottom of the page (message 2). when typing crontab -e I get crontab: can't change directory to '...

Re: Switch to USB in the Menu
Yes, all of this is confusing and I discovered it yesterday. Initially hdparm was for IDE drives and earlier types of drives (/dev/hdn) while sdparm was for SCSI drives (/dev/sdn). SATA drives are considered SCSI drives (/dev/sdn) but hdparm work with them. I double checked under Windows as I found a port of hdparm. My internal SATA drives (1 SSD a...

A Strange Thing Happened While Creating a New SD Card
I created a new SD card using the "old method". After booting I got a "No File" message and no menu. I could ftp and ssh into MISter so I decided to run the update script to see what would happen. As soon as I started the script I realized that I completely forgot to create a MISTer.ini. I let the script finished and planned to ...

Re: Switch to USB in the Menu
Thanks for your answers. I do not plan to use the "Switch to USB" and I will use only the games directory from the HD while keeping the games directory on the SD card empty. This will leave as much empty space on the SD card in order to minimize the wear. Now I have a problem: my disk "spindles off" when idle for some time and f...

Re: Switch to USB in the Menu
It seems it has not been added yet, though i really was under the impression that it was there? Seems the wiki needs to be updated regarding this subject. Thanks. For the time being I connected a USB HD without using the menu to Switch to USB. The HD has been mounted on /media/usb0. Is this always usb0 or could it be any other usbn? MISTer uses th...

Re: Switch to USB in the Menu
It means you can switch to the USB device for your cores. If you're keeping your cores on the SD card and the ROM / disk images / whatever on your hdd then you don't need to switch. These things are explained on the wiki i think, i recommend you read them more in detail they answer a lot of basic stuff about the MiSTer. Do you have any pointer to ...

What are the pro and con of the different file systems (ExFat, NTFS, ext4, ...)?
Where is the USB drive mounted? Wouldn't it be simpler if the drive without a Games folder was mounted on the SD card Games folder?

Yes, same PS for display and amp which is also something I have been thinking about and why I mentioned using chokes. As it is it is too much of a mess and I am afraid to let the smoke come out. I still believ...

Re: Ipad 3/4 Display with HDMI converter board
I received the screen this week and tested it yesterday, beautiful screen! I have everything lying on my desk and it is a mess but it was just for testing. In also ordered an audio amp: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B087PG2LVY/ I connected it to the audio out of the HDMI board and horror! Hum. I guessed it was due to EMI coming from the screen/...

Re: Method to verify SD card slot is functional?
The SD card slot on the standard I/O is the secondary slot used by very few cores for their own purpose.
The SD card slot for the system is the SD card slot on the DE10 nano in which you have the preinstalled SD card and is the reason it always boots that system.

Re: Neutrik HDMI feethrough problem
I did not realize that you were talking about the components on the I/O board. It could be the capacitor, check it.
You need to upgrade your power supply: De10-nano + Memory + I/O board + USB hub board + USB devices and you are at the limit.
Somewhere in the forum there are references to good power supplies or check with MISTer vendors.
Good luck.

Re: Neutrik HDMI feethrough problem
The default of continuity come from the toslink connector, when remove it there isn't the 300 ohm resistance anymore. So in term of grounding it's now the same when i use the dac directly or with the neutrik passthrough. :?: :?: :?: Toslink is an optical connection and should not have any effect on ground. Re: Neutrik HDMI feethrough problem
It looks like you have 2 problems: The sporadic connection between the shells and the unstable image when there is continuity. You have first to figure out what is the cause of the first problem and fix it. You should also insure that the HDMI connections do not exhibit a similar problem. Once you are sure that the connections are OK and if the ima...

Does anyone as any recommenda...

Re: Ipad 3/4 Display with HDMI converter board
Thanks for the answer. I was not sure if the controller HDMI input was enabled as the Chinese description is a little thin and seems to imply Mini HDMI. Regarding the DE10-nano HDMI it has been mentioned several times that the output seems "weak". Someone mentioned that a HDMI repeater can solve difficult problems.

No problems at all here with Arcade-TimePilot84_20200713.rbf, both MRAs (set1 and set2) and using tp84.zip from mame 0.222 merged. My MiSTer is setup with I/O board, 128MB RAM and an USB->DB9 board, using HDMI and a PSU with 5V/DC 2A. You do not mention tp84a.zip. From the Set 2 mra I understood I needed both tp84.zip and tp84a.zip. The problem I ...

Thanks to the developers. I have no problem with the set 1 but no luck with set 2 besides a buzzing sound. It should be working properly with the watchdog update from two days ago. Make sure you're using merged ROMs as we...
