Re: 9.7" iPad Retina Screen Perfect for MiSTer, $60 Fully Assembled 😄

[I might suggest you try using the RTD26xxPy tool to flash firmwares yourself, and see what happens and what the difference is. I'm not really in a position to spend $40 on a programmer tool that only might work, but I'm getting awfully tempted to. I do own the programmer tool too. I can confirm that the dump from RPI and RTD tool are identical. T...

Re: 9.7" iPad Retina Screen Perfect for MiSTer, $60 Fully Assembled 😄

640x480 is not for MiSTer. I want to connect a Dreamcast via VGA (480p) to it. The board my friend have does work. Mine does not work at all at this mode. Now I understand better. Unfortunately, it is better to stick to the Dreamcast hardware when it comes to test compatibility. Especially, to ensure the modeline settings are coming from true hard...

Re: 9.7" iPad Retina Screen Perfect for MiSTer, $60 Fully Assembled 😄

The stock firmware (RTD 2550 fw I provided) does not support 640x480 60Hz. But if you use this screen, why do you want to limit the resolution?

You can use one those two modes to have a real benefit with the iPad retina screen.

2048x1350

Code: Select all

video_mode=2048,48,32,80,1350,3,10,19,183087
2048x1536

Code: Select all

video_mode=13

Re: 9.7" iPad Retina Screen Perfect for MiSTer, $60 Fully Assembled 😄

Do you know if this dumped rtd2550 firmware supports 640x480 vie VGA? Unfortunately I cannot directly answer your question, I need to first test the resolution your are targeting. I assume your reference to VGA is about the resolution and not the connector. I only have a dual HDMI board fitted with RTD 2550. But this should not matter for a resolu...

The tool from https://github.com/floppes/RTD266xFlash is producing good dumps with a RPI. The details about how to set it up is available in the readme.

Nevertheless, you will be able to flash a new binary without enabling the write operations. I think you already know this by reading you.

If you are looking for the FW to pilot an iPad3/iPad4 screen with either an RTD2556T or RTD2550 you can try the following dumps below.

With this controller firmware, only Ipad 3 (new Ipad) and Ipad 4 screens are compatible unfortunately.

Re: 9.7" iPad Retina Screen Perfect for MiSTer, $60 Fully Assembled 😄

Does this work with VGA/HDMI RTD2556T board. Should work for the HDMI input. VGA registers might not be initialized and thus this input would be unusable. Chip input 1 and 3 are configured for HDMI on the fw, if HDMI on your board uses one of these paths it will work. Anycase, you can test it and revert back to the original firmware if it does not...

Re: 9.7" iPad Retina Screen Perfect for MiSTer, $60 Fully Assembled 😄

If not already posted somewhere, this is the link to the laser bear firmware that can be flashed to the RTD2556T board. I can confirm successful flashing and additional features availability. At least the multi frequency input range support is present. Freesync and others would require deeper testing.

This is the link to my kernel with only NFS on top of the standard MiSTer configuration. Now with the modular approach Soregelig has taken, kernel must be following the system image version., currently 5.15.1. Enjoy! Re: 9.7" iPad Retina Screen Perfect for MiSTer, $60 Fully Assembled 😄

Some more info. Dumping the firmware is possible via the I2C interface from the HDMI connector (no soldering needed). I have extracted the two firmwares and they are showing the same mode identification for the build product tree: (prot(monitor)type(LCD)model(RTK)cmds(01 02 03 07 0C E3 F3)vcp(02 04 05 06 08 0B 0C 10 12 14(01 02 04 05 06 08 0B) 16 1...

Re: 9.7" iPad Retina Screen Perfect for MiSTer, $60 Fully Assembled 😄

When I first powered up the screen there was a sort of 'test mode' where it would cycle between RGB and White, does anybody know how to access that? Hi, To enter the service menu (I think it is what you are looking for), power the screen off and remove the hdmi cable (no input signal must be provided). Now, hold down the menu key while powering it...

Re: NFS Support

I am using NFS since the beginning and it is working perfectly fine. I have already asked Sorgelig in the past (atari-forum) about putting it in the config. He answered that he will think about it. Now with more people interested, he might change his mind. NFS is not compiled inside the kernel but this can be achieved by adding the following this l...

Re: External speaker amplifier makes loud pop when switching cores and turning on/off?

I confirm that the DAC is indeed removing the pop sounds between core loading.

I have also the PROZOR version and it works like a charm.
