Re: Breakthrough for the ao486 core announced - Cache
open the mounting screen for it and then hit backspace. It probably needs a hint on that screen to hit backspace to unmount. Let me see what I can do. One of the latest commits implements this same thing we were discussing. Did you have any input in this, flynnsbit? https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/Main_MiSTer/commit/790b5a56cfcbd6e5e5551388162e0e0...

Re: Super Mario Bros 256 Level Glitch
Is there any way to replicate this glitch in Mister fpga??: Steps: -Insert 'Super Mario Bros.' into the NES (top-loading NES) and start playing -At any point during the first level, 1-1, pull the cartridge out of the system while the system remains powered on -Replace the 'Super Mario Bros.' cartridge with the 'Tennis' cartridge in your top-loadin...

Re: Anyone using an X-Arcade?
I have a tankstick as well and it runs with most all arcade cores I’ve tested it with, except in the ao486 core - Doom does not recognize it as a joypad... so that was a snag. Anyone here know what would be most optimal (e.g. mode3/Dinput or mode4/xinput) to allow doom to recognize the tankstick as a joypad, but still allow me to assign say the esc...

Re: MIDI sound using software synths?
I'm having issues getting MiSTer FPGA to talk to a Raspberry Pi running munt, (actually, running MT32-PI ) and I was wondering if this change was actually in place for everybody. This change will (likely) be in the next SD installer, so its not currently in place for everyone... However, this bug will effect very few games... Regardless, this chan...

Re: Breakthrough for the ao486 core announced - Cache
I noticed that as well, almost as though it ‘took time’ for that option to ‘kick in’. Perhaps it was a fluke from testing all of those dev cores for the past three months

Re: TI-994a How-To
Good that there are some people interested in the TI99/4A core, so this maybe could help to have further improvements of the core... :D Regarding the question, I quickly checked the zip file. The speech_example_ces.txt is just an assembly source code that can be compiled with E/A into an EA5 file, that then can be easily converted into a SSS modul...

Re: Breakthrough for the ao486 core announced - Cache
How does one go about dismounting a drive in the ao486 core, btw?
I've just been switching to non bootables as a workaround, any guidance would be welcomed.

Re: Breakthrough for the ao486 core announced - Cache
I made a build of the latest updates: ao486_caldor_cache42b.7z I can't seem to get this one to boot up, but I haven't tried the beta core since one of the early ones. I've tried booting from floppy images, various vhds (including the freedos 1.3 one), swapping the floppy/hdd boot order and it always finds no boot devices. Any ideas on what I could...

Re: TI-994a How-To
The TI99 core is a great core, however I think there is no harddisk support, so Tunnels of Doom is out of the game (which is one of the best TI games btw). Or am I mistaken here? Yes, it's correct. Unfortunately, at the moment, there is no disk or tape support in the core. :-( You cannot run Tunnels of Doom, Adventure, etc. since it's not possible...

Re: MiSTer on RF TV
I first want to try get the current setup working, before I 'have to' spend more money. Strangely, when in mister menu, I can get it to display the menu itself but very faintly. that was best image I could get it to output Sell your I/O board, take 10 bucks out of that sale and you've got something that could work in tandem with your current setup...

Re: MiSTer on RF TV
I've tried to get mister working with an old RF only TV. anything else I could try to get it working? Why not try the simple way, try using the main HDMI out (no I/O board): 1.) Connect the main HDMI cable from the MiSTer DE-10 Nano board to this HDMI to RCA adapter: https://www.amazon.com/RCA-GANA-Composite-Converter-Adapter-Supporting/dp/B01KXI8...

Re: Nextstep on ao486?
I was doing the usual Youtube rabbit hole last night and came across a video on running Nextstep OS 3.3 on a 486. Never realized they released it for Intel PCs. Got me thinking that it might be a fun project for Mister, but upon some further research, it looks like it only installs from a CD which I assume has to be accessible at the hardware leve...

Re: Breakthrough for the ao486 core announced - Cache
Cache41 seems to make it impossible to boot AO486. It wont recognize boot sectors whether its floppy or hdd. Try building a setup from scratch, as was provided on another thread for you here: https://misterfpga.org/viewtopic.php?p=7308#p7308 Also, make certain that the 'System Settings' reflect a date of 2020-08-07 for MISTER (I have also had it h...

Re: Doom with Midi Sound (Sound Canvas)
Please tell me you're not using the actual hardware and that it is possible to achieve that sound output from games like doom just through the DE-10 Nano alone... Yes I'm using actual hardware, but you can get good results with FluidSynth too --> https://youtu.be/jU79Zf4sOCQ I still do not understand what this means tbh. Do you have special hardwa...

Not using SoftMPU! --> https://youtu.be/IxORU_e3owI I'm guessing by the looks of the video that you use actual hardware with a MIDI to USB adapter to interface with the DE-10 Nano? Re: Breakthrough for the ao486 core announced - Cache
... Anyway, I did not use the MiSTer thing that comes with the Cache20 core, so that might be why when I set mine to more than 30mhz, it becomes... irratic with its speed. Doom seems to run almost perfectly when I set it to 30mhz though, but it is losing some frames. Faster speeds makes sound effects and music much too fast, and even the game itse...

Re: Breakthrough for the ao486 core announced - Cache
So I don't know if it will affect other games, but I got Wolfenstein 3-D and Doom to launch with Sound Blaster support and Music on Cache20 by setting speed to 30MHz and then running Wolf3d, then select the Sound -- SB settings, then switch back to 100Mhz for full speed and it runs just fine from there. Video example of Doom and Wolf3d showing the...

Re: Breakthrough for the ao486 core announced - Cache
I'd like to say it's not too difficult to compile yourself, but got a 'Can't convert time-limited SOF into POF, RBF, etc.' message in the log. I could be wrong, but I think that is due to using the "Lite" version of Quartus. you have a compiled file to test it? I have compiled the DEV branch. It would probably be be better to wait for of...

Darius Plus not loading as *.SGX (follow-up to initial GitHub issue#102-now closed)
As was mentioned on https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/TurboGrafx16_MiSTer/issues/102 , I found that my 786,432 byte-sized image of Darius Plus loaded as a *.PCE file, but not as an *.SGX within the latest iteration [20200526] of the MiSTer TGFX16 core. Issue#102 was dismissed as being an issue specific to my image file for Darius Plus and not one of ...
