Re: Other Compatible Boards [SoCKit Development Kit]
There is ram independently connected to both the HPS and FPGA (rather than just the HPS on the Nano) so maybe it wouldn't require an additional module, although we would still need an add on board for HDMI, usb hub, etc.
It's also 3 times the price.

Re: SDRAM Update Discussion
The discussion around "bad ram" is a little misleading. The ram chips are (for the most part) absolutely fine, it's everything between them and the FPGA chip that's a problem and only a small part of that right at the end of the line is in our hands. MiSTer's ram is round the bend in an echoey twisty corridor, and rather than fix the corr...

Can you post details of the actual EEPROM - A chip or whatever it is that has the data you need, picture & part number, I'm a little unclear on exactly what you're trying to accomplish.

C64 Joystick enhancements ?
A couple of minor QOL feature requests regarding the C64 Joystick support Additional button mappings for - Autofire : This was pretty much standard on the better joysticks back in the day and some games just assume you have this feature - Additional button hard coded to Joy1-fire (call it Fire4) : Joy1-fire is basically space bar, allowing a button...

Re: PlayStation
As a word of caution with PS3 controllers, there was a significant number of revisions over the life of the PS3 and a great deal of variability. They can be difficult to charge requiring usb-host negotiation and while they are bluetooth, they aren't super eager to be friends with other devices often requiring extra steps or software. Wired PS2 dual...

It still doesn't change the basic point that anything you can coax the Linux half of Mister to run, it will be both easier (requiring no special effort) and faster running on a Pi.

Is anyone really going to go through such a large effort to play Plumbers don't wear ties on the MiSTer? Sega CD plenty of atrocious games too. I'd quite enjoy a 3DO core, played on a Panasonic one a lot as a kid. Star Control 2, Return Fire, Need for Speed, Wing Commander 3, all those terrible Crystal Dynamics games .. built in CD vis is kinda wo...

Re: Why use rar for compression when there are seemingly better alternatives?
RAR is likely more familiar and easier to deal with than XZ. RAR is a fairly obscure format in 2020 ... It was popular back when every byte mattered and archives needed to be split because modems. If it's just the SD loader, for Windows users, why not just use ZIP which has native OS/explorer support, high familiarity & doesn't require the end...

Re: Pushing ao486 core to its limits: Diablo II, Age of Empires, Simcity 3000, Starcraft -Win98SE
for PC there is basically no limits. Try counter strike. So this thread is pretty much useless. core is for 320x200 early-486 DOS games and some point and click Windows/SVGA games. I feel like you're missing the point when it comes to PC gaming. It's never been about enjoying the games that run perfectly, it's about fishing for sympathy over all t...

Tseng ET4000 Windows 3.1 Drivers in disk img format for convenience.
Note : Don't copy the contents of this disk straight into your WINDOWS\SYSTEM .. that will brick windows. Recommend just mount the disk as and when needed.

Re: Breakthrough for the ao486 core announced - Cache
This has gone from being one of the most addictive, frustrating and masochistic cores to be one of the most fun by far, certainly not what I was planning on using when I got a DE10nano. I am seriously considering building MiSTer into an actual vintage laptop chassis and calling my daily drive ... battery life to die for! I really feels very close t...

Re: Breakthrough for the ao486 core announced - Cache
ao486_Cache25_061fc53 has a memory selector bug.
In MiSTer menus it presents 16MB or 256MB, 16MB results in 64Mb in Win98, 256 results in a screen full of garbage just after boot.

Audio feedback from the drive was really important back on actual hardware, I miss it on MiSTer more than I thought I would especially for Amiga & C64.

Re: Sponsoring RTG support
I see no reason why unused space on the FPGA can't or shouldn't be used to optionally extend machines, even if that goes into realms of fantasy hardware. For the Amiga on FPGA specifically, there is also a feel that emulation just doesn't replicate.
Certainly wouldn't kick an optional high res desktop or accelerated CPU out of bed.
