Re: The Result of My Search for a Great MiSTer Display

yes, what foxbat just said, if youre running the mister in low lag mode, its sending the correct refresh rate/video signal to the monitor (original refresh rate). so, if youre getting a solid picture, without any stuttering, its just the monitor not displaying the FPS/refresh rate to a xx.x decimal in its FPS overlay, but the MiSTer is actually sen...

Re: The Result of My Search for a Great MiSTer Display

i am also in the camp of nostalgia for CRTs (i have a couple that i use with original consoles) but the upkeep, weight, and inevitable issues with them which require pricey/timely repairs has deterred me to find the best gaming computer monitor. https://www.rtings.com/monitor/reviews/best/by-price/under-200 that has a bunch of solid recommendation...

messed around with the shadow mask editor, https://bool.space/mister/ShadowMaskEditor.htm and created this, based off of a rotated RYCB stripe mask MiSTer displaying 1080p, video scaling set fit to screen Updated 12/5/21 8,8 4,4,4,4,4,4,4,4 6,0,6,0,6,0,6,0 3,0,3,0,3,0,3,0 1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1 4,4,4,4,4,4,4,4 0,6,0,6,0,6,0,6 0,3,0,3,0,3,0,3 1,1,1,1,1,1,1...

Re: Where to get the new shadow mask filter?

An interesting thing about the shadow masks is that, unlike scanline filters, they seem agnostic to pixels in the original content. They are basically going to sit on top of your scaled graphics in the exact same pattern and size, regardless of how you scale or stretch your original source. This means you don't have to worry about integer scaling ...

ive been very impressed with the shadow masks. it gives these raw digital pixels some much needed character and texture of a CRT/PC monitor

game changer, imo

Re: Jotego Confirms CPS3 / PGM / Mortal Kombat

yeah, i do remember him saying that (about developing CPS3 for ZXDOS)

im hopeful a dual ram setup could be a solution for CPS3 on the MiSTer, or some kind of hybrid solution to offload things.
but who knows :)

Re: Jotego Confirms CPS3 / PGM / Mortal Kombat

...I wouldn't get too crazy. Jotego has hinted at many things he can't possibly manage in the near or distant future all at the same time :) Today he stated in his patreon, that he won't release anything for three weeks #JTFridays , until he has the Neo Geo Pocket done. true, but i think the history of Jotego doing CPS1 and CPS2, it would be a nat...

Re: PlayStation MiSTer Core Repository Created

so the general thought is that dual SD ram will be required for the PS1 core. both from the core developer, and rumors of saturn requiring this as well. if i had to guess, i would say CPS3 will also require dual SD RAM the response to people who use the analog IO board is that you will need to get a digital IO board (if SNAC and user buttons/fan ar...

Best SHMUPs for the MiSTer

hey yall, a side effect of me getting into the MiSTer and FPGA was learning about SHMUPs and finally taking time to get better at them. with the low latency of modern TVs and FPGA, the advantages compared to 10 years ago are very appreciated and make getting into SHMUPs more viable and worth the effort. i wanted to post a list of my personal favori...

weird, reproduced it with the SNES version posted above by Grabulosaure, and on the shadow mask version of the SNES core, in vsync mode 0, 1, or 2 if i run full speed with mario, the screen is briefly loading/catching up every second or so good example is the first levels of SMW, where you have a long section to run on the foreground and look at th...

i dont have too much time to tinker with this tonight, but im noticing something similar happening as of lately. tested with the new shadow mask core and standard SNES core thats released, but its a judder or frame drop every second or so when im running with mario at full speed 240 testsuite scrolls the screen just fine up to the super fast speeds...

enable jotego beta cores to get the CPS2 updates - run update all > go into settings > jotego script options > then enable beta files the other shadow mask beta cores are just something the creator of the shadow mask filter threw together for testing purposes (Neo Geo, Genesis, and SNES). those are on the MiSTer discord, under test builds i can say...

Re: Cheap Arduinos for Daemonbite adapters

yes, that was my reasoning for getting them from amazon VS china (how long shipping would take) but, the ones linked in your ebay listings are the top mounted V1s. while those definitely will work for daemonbite projects, i would urge people to get the V2s with the extended solder legs. which will safeguard you from accidental dropping/knocking the...

hey there,

these are the ones ive bought, and would recommend.
noting, this version has the V2 reinforced USB port, versus the top mounted USB port
(top mounted V1s are sensitive to movement and break easily)

this was asked about in the discord channel as well both controllers should be possible, unsure about analog, but the rumble function would take implementation from sorgelig AND, the controllers would also need a 7v-9v line from "somewhere" to supply the proper voltage for the motors to rumble i do hope someone finds a way to get original...
