Re: MiSTer Won't Turn On
Which IO board did you get? If you got the analog IO board, there should be a y-splitter that allows you to plug in both barrel jacks (one for the USB hub board, and one for the DE10-nano).

Re: Terasic DE10 Nano Price Increase
I was hoping this was an older thread that was bumped, but it appears I'm wrong. I was thinking about putting together a starter MiSTer kit for a friend as a surprise gift. At this rate it won't be a surprise, and he'll have to pitch in for it too

Re: Save function in FDS games ?
It could be a bad ROM you're using. FDS games save fine on my system. I just tested it with Metroid. However I cannot get Castlevania to save. But I believe I haven't gotten to a point in the game where it actually writes data to the disk.

Re: MiSTer Not Turning On Anymore?
I'd check the SD card first as Bas mentioned. Then I'd re-seat all the connections on the device. It's possible a power connection isn't making full contact. Do you have an inline power switch for your MiSTer?

This is true. It doesn't bother me much. Although I'm always open to more excuses to buy audio equipment.FoxbatStargazer wrote: ↑Tue Feb 23, 2021 11:10 pm The DAC on the analog I/O is pretty crap though. If you're going through the trouble of a headphone amp, you'll get vastly better sound with a $10 DAC and mini-TOSlink cable, and both the analog and digital boards support TOSlink.

I’ve noticed this too but I figured it was normal behavior. You can open the menu using your controller if you define your bindings. Unless you’re playing NG with a keyboard on purpose...

Re: How important is the VGA connector?
You can technically get analog video out of the HDMI port using direct video and a HDMI->VGA converter. I would recommend getting the analog IO board though. The analog audio jack is what sold me. I can have my gameplay on my monitor, with the audio routed through my headphone amp. Without the IO board, you’d have to pull the audio from the TV or f...

Re: eXoFlynn Top 300 DOS Pack Updates and Support
I do plan to do another video to catch everyone up on all of the changes, workflow, and new stuff. Probably this weekend. Please do. I’ve downloaded eXoDOSv5, and eXoDOSConverter has had some changes since your last video. My TDL folder ended up being too large for the maximum .vhd size compatible with the ao486 core. I ended up using your eXoDOSv...

Re: Arcade SegaSys1 and update script
It seems to be related to the trend in some tech industry players to consider certain words hurtful. In this case, GitHub has changed the naming of the principle branch of repositories from ‘Master’ to ‘Main’... but only in newly-created repositories. This change appears to have been committed within the past few days. The updater script apparentl...

Re: My DE-10 nano died
I can’t imagine powering the USB hub while not powering the DE-10 nano would kill it. It’s certainly possible though, because not every USB hub is created equally. I would carefully inspect the DE-10 nano’s traces and solder joints. It’s possible something got in there and is causing a short. These things really ought to be in a protective case. I ...

Re: eXoFlynn Top 300 DOS Pack Updates and Support
Amazing work flynnsbit! I played a lot of DOS games as a kid but my uncle always ran the system for me. Your pack is a life saver. I’m naturally a tinkerer, so I’ll eventually learn DOS behind-the-scenes, but until then, I get to enjoy these games. Cheers.

Re: Missing directory: AO486
Move your files to /media/usb0/games/AO486 and delete /media/fat/games/AO486. MiSTer automatically looks for game directories and it checks your SD card first. If the directory doesn’t exist on your SD card, it next checks your USB drive. Everything should just work. No need to create symlinks. This is how I have mine set up.

Re: request: squashfs in the linux kernel
Great work! Your update and mount scripts are finicky and didn't want to play nice with my system. I compressed all the data on my main Linux machine and transferred it onto my SD card. I managed to get everything working by reading your scripts and doing all the heavy lifting myself over an ssh terminal. I've easily freed up 20gb of space on my 12...
