D-Pad 'quitting' on Retrobit wireless Sega Saturn controller
Finally have some time to really dig into Mister again. I have many controllers to choose from but love the Saturn pad design the best. When using the Retrobit 2.4gh wireless Saturn controller, nearly every time now, I can map it in Mister to anything and I'm playing for a bit, and then the D-PAD stops working! I can punch, kick and jump etc via th...

Re: Doom (PR-Boom Plus on Linux Side) new install bug?
@bbond007 - TOTALLY FIXED NOW! THANK YOU!! I just have to figure out the settings again. It loaded Doom II by default instead of part 1. I will check my WAD files. Also the resolution by default is very windowed like ScummVM but likely a setting I just need to rediscover. It is just great to have the option to play this in the AO486 core, or just l...

Re: SCUMMVM
Thank you bbond007. I sorted that I needed to update my .sh install file from here :https://github.com/bbond007/MiSTer_ScummVM Now it downloaded the other versions! From the same link, I re-downloaded the latest themes, most notably "scummremastered22.zip" and made a copy of it to rename to "scummremastered.zip" and now themes a...

Re: SCUMMVM
Update question: I had a complete install on my SD card of "ScummVM 2.1.0 'Electric Sheep' Complete Collection" which took a while to build. I forgot if the update script might wreck anything like game compatibility but I updated- it now says I'm at 2.2.0 First, according to this page, bbond007 added versions 2.3 and 2.5: https://githubme...

Re: Atari 8-Bit Computers
That's interesting about Infocom allocating 4 save spots on the disk. I suppose if I bought them second hand again I may find someone else's save games then. I remember with Alternate Reality you make a character disk. I guess I have to look up each long game's in-game abaility in this regard. Seven Cities of Gold, Ultima... I can't imagine how man...

Doom (PR-Boom Plus on Linux Side) new install bug?
I had PR-Doom working fine from the installer but recently did a fresh Mister install and find it not working. A message was asking for a missing file: "libdb-5.3.so" A similar bug was discussed in the SCUMMVM core here: https://githubmemory.com/repo/bbond007/MiSTer_ScummVM/issues/14 I extracted the file from an old linux image and put it...

Re: Atari 8-Bit Computers
Ah, so you saved to your Seastalker disk? Even if digital only, could that corrupt the disk eventually? I think I have some digitized .atr files from my old floppies. Maybe I'll figure out how to create a digital blank copy again.
Thanks on the game-specific advice for seeing two drives or not.

Re: Atari 8-Bit Computers
Is the core compatible with save games? Not save STATES, but in gave save progress? A quick game of Panther wouldn't need it, but Infocom adventures, Alternate Reality, and others would. I was afraid to save an Infocom game thinking it might write to the original game .atr file. Would it? On a real Atari 800, I'd save to a blank floppy disk on my 1...

Re: Multi-Disc CHD support?
I debate the CHD format a lot and if it is right for my setup. For many systems, it would be a space saver in theory. If it is not fully compatible with flash carts, FPGA, best emulators etc., then I end up needing BIN/CUE anyway. I think I have MAME CHDs and maybe Neo Geo CD. I also have Neo Geo CD Bin/Cue redumps because the set is small enough. ...

Re: SNAC Questions
Interesting about the Atari paddles. I haven't checked in a while, but I will look to see if I can use paddles on the MiST (has DB9 ports). I also must refresh myself with the MiST cores in general to see which are now the same as the MiSTer cores and which are standalone.

SNAC Questions
I have a BLISSTER board instead of the standard USB one and already know most of the differences between SNAC and Blisster. Lon.TV just released a great video on SNAC (I learned I won't be able to use a Sega light phaser on Nes or zapper on SMS). Blisster will not be enough for light guns to work. I bought a peripheral that came with a Sega SNAC (D...

Status of Sega Pico Core?
Whatever happened to the Sega Pico Core (originally from Shane Lynch)? Those of us with children in our families might enjoy showing them the games. Was it ever finished? I think it borrowed light-gun/mouse support to work as the pen. I don't know how the booklet parts would work unless each were scanned in and a dual screen or overlay would be tog...

SUPER MIDI PAK - Possible support with hardware addons?
I am interested in the SUPER MIDI PAK as discussed here: https://www.retrorgb.com/super-midi-pak-update-interview.html Obviously the MiSTer project doesn't have cart support, which would be needed to plug in a midi keyboard and cables. Still, with new MIDI devices being integrated to work with MiSTer, is it possible that a separate MIDI IO board mi...

Re: Commodore 128 for the MiSTer?
Reading the Gihub for the C64 core, I see newly implemented C128 being mentioned. Features: C128/Smart Turbo mode up to 4x. Turbo modes: C128 mode: this is C128 compatible turbo mode available in C64 mode on Commodore 128 and can be controlled from software, so games written with this turbo mode support will take advantage of this. Smart mode: In t...

Re: RDI Halcyon Laserdisc Game System Prototype
Does anyone know where this prototype is now? I assume Ben Heck sent it back to the contributor. It's odd that I have such a fascination with this system that has only two games. Thayer's Quest is so fascinating to me. I don't think I ever played it in an arcade. I had the buggy DVD release (I still have my backup .iso and scanned artwork), and the...

Re: Linux Games
I don't see it's own thread, so hope this idea fits here. On the Linux side, of all 'games' to port, has the idea to port the Linux version of MAME been discussed? I get it that it is not the point nor focus of the Mister project, but now there is Mistercade. Though I don't have an arcade cab, I still suppose I'd rather use my Mister than a Pi imag...

RDI Halcyon Laserdisc Game System Prototype
Ben Heck recently did an amazing video: Super Rare RDI Halcyon Laserdisc Game System Prototype Repair: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WCFpYHY3VFE I did not know it is basically a standard laserdisc player, but with a separate little module that sits on top of it. THAT module really IS the RDI Halcyon. Ben Heck really helps demystify the system. Wo...

Re: Has anyone tried a 1TB MicroSD card in their MiSTer?
I haven't even looked into how to use an external drive, etc. for storage. So if I use a cufflink size thumb drive in one of my available USB slots on my Blisster board, I can navigate to it through the menu or do I have to configure something first? This would be great for adding storage for eventual PSX/PS1 games.

Re: Help with Component video out from IO board.
Thank you all, I finally got it going. At first, it seemed component was looking great but at the expense of my HDMI signal which was running all garbled on many/most cores. I togged some lower resoultions then back to where I was and all worked out. It may have had a temporary glitch like what happens when toggling cores and one must power cycle t...

Re: Help with Component video out from IO board.
I found the SOG switch on the IO board (the only switch) and moved it from its default position of 'Auto' to 'OVR' (I assume OVR means OVER as in 'sync OVER Green'?) but still no go. I re-checked the github about mister.ini but don't see a setting for selecting sync on green additionally there if that is what you meant. What are the exact .ini sett...

Help with Component video out from IO board.
I got the Mister Addons "VGA to Component / YPbPr Cable" and am having trouble getting it to work. With my new IO board (latest at time of writing), I have HDMI going to LED Samsung and component going to CRT. I've updated Mister from scripts. Picture is great via HDMI but no go on Component. Best cables for IO board 'VGA' output
I am using the term 'VGA' for common ground simplicity when it comes to the IO board of the Mister when it comes to RGB territory. For CRTs I have Component input, late 90s VGA CRTs as well as Commodore monitors with RGBi inputs. What are the best quality cables available for any or all of these options?

I'll have to look up what UART is but MIDI being outside the sandbox is no problem for me. Considering that many had no Roland MT-32 or Sound Canvas back then, it kind of feels natural to have MIDI in this way unless I am totally missing the boat.

C64 core maturity vs alternatives
I have a real C64 shortboard version and a MK2 board revision and was looking at the Ultimate 64 board for a while. I had looked at the Turbo Chameleon in the past as well but with Mister, I personally look at it with its dock and find the Mister more appealing. I get it that using any such solution with a real C64 keyboard feels more authentic, th...

amd had SX processors at least to 66MHz speed. Interesting fact is that Norton Utilities sysinfo detects the CPU as Cyrix 486. it is pretty fair to call Mister implementation "486 SX compatible CPU". Re: Breakthrough for the ao486 core announced - Cache
With the amazing ao486 core getting updates, is the github information page up to date? Specifically the 486DX33 performance CPU (no-FPU)? With foggy memory of post-1980s computers before my first Windows 98 one, the 9min mark of Lon.tv's 25th anniversary of Windows 95 video gave some perspective. Next, looking at the Intel family line to re-learn ...
