Re: init rcS speed / faster MiSTer boot time

My apologies, you're right - K is the designator for 'Klll' and S is "Start'.

That the case, what difference does it make what the extension is? You can source a script that _doesn't_ end in .sh.

Re: init rcS speed / faster MiSTer boot time

The "S" isn't for Speed, it is for Shutdown. Since there is no formal shutdown on MiSTer, those scripts will never be called.

Re: SNAC interface for PSX core

I was excited about PSX SNAC right up until I realized that it also prevents use of virtual memory cards. Ugh. :P really? so when you are using PSX SNAC you are limited to only 2 physical memory cards? Unless I'm misunderstanding something, I don't think this is the case. I have used my SNAC adapter to transfer saves from a physical memory card to...

The core definitely supports bin/cue, CHD is just much much *much* smaller/more efficient.

Re: Amiga 68030/40?

There used to be an Aminet patch that you could run in User-Startup that would allow an '020 to respond as an EC030 that was useful for (brain-dead) stuff like this. Or you could just patch a single byte in the game where the check is done. *shrugs* Would you happen to know the name of that tool? Did a quick search of Aminet, but couldn’t find it....

Re: Amiga 68030/40?

I found another reason to get a 030 or 040 CPU on the MiSTer... seems The Settlers can only be played with map size 8 if you have an 030 or 040 CPU. Of course, you could play it with map size 8 in the AO486 core, but I do think some prefer the Amiga version of the game. There used to be an Aminet patch that you could run in User-Startup that would...

I'm one of the maintainers...please post a Github issue on this. I'm unaware of CPM keyboard issues with BMC128 (outside of special keys not well handled by a C64 keyboard mapping).

Re: Amiga 68030/40?

Well, I was referring to the '030 MMU specifically because that unlocks a lot of fun stuff (full Enforcer, AUX, virtual memory) that can't be done any other way. I'm still a bit lost with the fascination of pushing Motorola instruction set performance boundaries when there's VERY good odds that the machine you're using to do the FPGA development is...

Re: Amiga 68030/40?

@Samurai_Crow tbh the MMU is the most interesting part of the 68030. At an instruction set level, it's pretty much identical to the '020, and from a performance perspective, it's infinitely easier just to ratchet the clock up on an '020 than to try to get more performance out of a more complex implementation.

There's already support for a SNAC adapter that handles a single controller and memory card (reusing actual PSX ports), if that helps.

What it sounds like - controls the degree of mixing independent left and right sound channels into center. It's most useful when using headphones, as full separation is very disorienting.

Re: Can't get analog sticks to work with PSX core? [Solved]

The controller is offscreen at the end of the controller setup asking for the last two tilts - you did do that with the analog sticks as requested by setup, yes? Holy shit, that's it! I though these were for motions sensing in case people used PS3 or PS4 controllers, I didn't think they were asking me to setup the analog stick a 2nd time and right...

Actually, I hadn't until now. The controller is offscreen at the end of the controller setup asking for the last two tilts - you did do that with the analog sticks as requested by setup, yes? Also, is the firmware (on the Pro+) up to date? If the answer to both of the above is yes, I truly don't know what to say - in 2 years, I've never seen or exp...

Re: Can't get analog sticks to work with PSX core? [Solved]

Just like the real thing, analog sticks are generally NOT enabled by default and must be manually enabled with L3+R3+up (or L1+L2+R1+R2+Up if you've changed that configuration). This must be done in-game and NOT at the white boot screen. This has already been discussed and is not the problem. Except based on the observations made, it kind of has t...

Is there any way to set the MCU type in an ini file or similar so it doesn't fail detection every time and must be selected manually? This is a regular thing for me with the ESP8266.

One other quick usability request for some future release, if I may - would it be possible to allow the 32K expansion RAM to be disabled via menu option? It's handy for testing cases where machines would lack it.

Re: TI-994a How-To

OK - I believe you, I'm clearly failing to understand some things about the TI's memory architecture. For example, Alligator Mix has an even more complex topology (C and D ROMs plus a full complement of 5 8K banks of GROM) but doesn't require banking/paging. Still studying. =)

OK...I've spent 36 hours looking at this now, and still can't explain why Mancala requires paging378. It only works that way on MiSTer, that much is true, but I'm not sure that's correct. Mancala behaves very similarly - the moment input (# of players) is requested, the music stops and the title hangs. What language option are you using? Also are you using Paged 378 for the cart type?
