Re: X68000 beta core preview - 10/14

I can't access the Discord link. Is the core available anywhere else perchance? I have trouble playing with Puu-san's X68000 core. The keyboard gets stuck when I'm typing in the command line of Human68K. The cursor still blinks but the keys stop responding. It kind of reminds me of what happened wit...

Re: Alternative spectrum ROM

Uh? It works for me in games/Spectrum/boot.rom. In fact that's where it is with the new distribution system. https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/Distrib ... s/Spectrum

boot.rom is a collection of ROMs with 48K, 128K, +3 and I believe others. Which one do you want to replace?

Re: How durable do you find the DE10-Nano to be?

I see they sell HDMI extension cables, including very short ones. I'm going to get one of those. Sounds like a simple way of protecting the connector. I already have two MSX machines with the joystick port loose and inoperative.

Re: Dismember SG-1000 from the Coleco

I've tried the same trick as in https://misterfpga.org/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=2739 and it worked in this case. First, create a symbolic link named "cores" in the _Console folder that points to "." (without quotes). If you don't know how to create a symbolic link, create a subdirectory named "cores" in...

Can anyone please post an empty HDD image?

Note that with these highly repetitive patterns, it's often possible to re-compress the compressed file.

Re: List of Cores with ADC (Tape Input) and RTC (Real Time Clock) Support

The +2/+3/+2A versions didn't have one. Most likely the Timex ones didn't either. Not sure about the Pentagon/Scorpion, but I'd say it's unlikely.

Edit: Oh yes, the TSConf has one (and was already in the list).

Yes, in the User Control Panel, last tab.

Another World / Out Of This World

Hard to tell what's the adequate forum for this, so I apologize if this is the wrong one. I've just learned that the videogame Another World (called Out Of This World in the U.S.) was created using a virtual machine with a custom assembler-like language. The language, described here: http://www.anot...

Looks like the initial "Th" is overwritten by spaces, not sure why. If you enter "A" repeatedly, they sometimes flash for a frame or so.

Thanks a lot danielb! The new core works perfectly, as does the released core. It seems you hit the nail in the head!

As for the minicom issue, maybe someone with a GitHub account can report it? I guess the right repository is https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/Linux_I ... Ter/issues

Re: Compukit UK101 core

Thanks, I'm still experiencing problems with that version. This time it mostly works, but sometimes it changes spontaneously with no apparent reason to trigger it, and some time later it changes back to good. I think Sorg once said or implied that it's indeed tied to the resolutions. Mine is 1920x10...

Re: PlayStation MiSTer Core Repository Created

I imagine that the software emulator is a "reality check" on how the hardware works and behaves, and allows tuning or fixing things, testing ideas etc. faster and with more debugging tools than doing it directly in hardware form. That sounds like good approach. Watching the Croc demo video suggested...

Re: ZX Spectrum Next Port to MiSTer

Yes, I used the image while never dismounting it from Windows. But as long as I'm not modifying it's contents while the Next is running that vhd won't get corrupted. I wouldn't be so sure. The OS may keep a cache of some sectors and rely on them not having been modified. If the core modifies those ...

Thanks a lot, that's a huge improvement! Now the screen can be shown with uniform pixels, which was something that drove me mad in the previous version, and the screenshots also have uniform pixels. Re: Altair 8800 Serial Output

Maybe you can ssh to the MiSTer and use Minicom? That should at least let you try different settings faster. It should work without any extra hardware too.

For ssh, if you're on Windows, look for PuTTY; that's an SSH client. If not, it's most likely already installed.

Hardware flow control needs to be on. This is set as default by Minicom, but may not be set in your script. I also tried the same thing you did but never worked out how to configure it. D. I've tried to set up the comm port without using minicom, but I was unsuccessful. At best, if I open minicom and quit with Ctrl-A Q [Yes], it works (until the next reboot), but I couldn't configure it properly from the command line from zero. It seems like minicom sets some parameter of the device t...

Hi, I'd be happy to do this, if you can point me in the direction of some documentation on how it is done. Lack of documentation is a SERIOUS hurdle to writing a core. I have been looking in other cores to see how they are written but this is not always enough. As I said before, this is my noob pro...

It would be great if it supports the ADC and is able to save through the DAC. I missed the peculiar ZX81 noise so much that I made a program for the Spectrum to save in ZX81-compatible format. This is a Spectrum program that saves Mazogs for the ZX81: http://www.formauri.es/personal/pgimeno/temp/sav...
