C64 Core - Device not present error
For some reason I can no longer load any disks on my C64 core. I haven't played it in a while, it's several updates since I have so maybe out of touch with something. If I use either the DolphinDos or standard C64 rom I get the same error - Load "*",8,1 results in "?Device not present error" Not sure what could be wrong as the d...

Re: Galaxian Inaccurate Sound
Very interesting reading! I guess it's always a difficult (if not impossible) challenge to match analogue hardware since it varies with resistor/capacitor age and quality, also components reacting differently when warm etc. Which is part of the charm of the old machines in a lot of ways. Although in this particular case it seems as though the timin...

Galaxian Inaccurate Sound
Galaxian is an awesome early arcade game which I regularly play and it's great on a CRT via the mister - however I noticed that the sound is not right, it seems to have a lower pulse frequency which is most noticeable when you clear a board and a new one starts - it almost seems like it's bugged until it gradually resumes a more natural tone after ...

Re: Slowdown in games
VSync setting makes no difference as I suspected it wouldn't, I don't even think it's active when using VGA out. So my initial question still stands, if the memory, cpu and bus speeds are the same why is the overall system performance seemingly slower? The main reason I use a mister is for clean video output to my CRT, I have most of the original h...

Re: Slowdown in games
Hi, yes I did, I tried both actually and the results are very similar. Although this isn't specific to Rainbow Islands on the Amiga, I experience it in other games and cores too. It was more of a general question on clock, memory and bus speeds not translating to real-world performance. I'm happy to see that graftgold games now work from by WHDLoad...

Slowdown in games
I experience a lot of slowdown in a few cores on games that I wouldn't expect it. I'm curious about it since in theory if the fpga is emulating the clock/memory and bus speeds then should it not be identical to the original hardware? A case in point is Rainbow Islands on the Amiga, there's a ton of slowdown in it and the game overall feels like it'...

Re: Can't get Mayflash F500 v2 to work with MiSTer
I am such a dunce sometimes! :) The one thing I didn't think of was actually mapping the joystick within mister - I supposed that since my last usb joystick just worked then this one would, being a HiD device. Thanks so much for your help Sigismond0, it all works fine now - all I had to do was use the keyboard to select joystick mapping and set eve...

Reading USB input via putty terminal
Hi all, I'm trying to read the inputs from my arcade joystick via usb but I'm getting nowhere. I have the PuTTY terminal open but /dev/ttyUSB0 doesn't exist so the command from the mister github (stty -F /dev/ttyUSB0 115200 cs8 -cstopb -parenb -ixoff -ixon) doesn't work. I've tried 'sudo udevadm monitor -u', then 'sudo udevadm info -a --path=/sys/[...

Re: Can't get Mayflash F500 v2 to work with MiSTer
Thanks a lot for the information, unfortunately still nothing for me. It lights up purple on the middle setting rather than red, but neither that nor xinput work. I'm going to hook up the serial console terminal later and see if the mister is reading the input at all. Failing that I can't think of anything other than returning the stick, which will...

Re: Can't get Mayflash F500 v2 to work with MiSTer
Just tried that, unplugged it switched on mister then plugged it in, nothing. Tried multiple modes while doing that, still nothing. Other USB ports on the mister, same deal. When you say just about any mode is there a particular one you use? There seems to be two main switches for mode setting, the first one and the second one (from the top-left), ...

Can't get Mayflash F500 v2 to work with MiSTer
Hi all,
It's probably me being dumb but no combination of modes on the mayflash F500 v2 allows it to work with the mister.
It works on the PC without drivers so I am puzzled as to why I get nothing via the mister.
Anybody have any idea what I might be doing wrong?
Thanks.

Re: Graftgold games
Interesting stuff. My real Amiga 1200 has an 030 based accelerator in it with 8 megs of fast ram. With Uridium on the minimig it always fails as it's about to do the copper bars effect. I'll try running it as a stock A1200 with no accelerator and see what that does. Shame I'm not an FPGA programmer, would be nice to know what's actually going on wi...

Re: Graftgold games
Yeah I realise the floppy versions work fine it would just be nice to have everything working from the HD, I have it set up with iGames and images for each game etc.
I didn't think it was a matter of unimplemented instructions though, rather something not easily resolved.

Graftgold games
I seem to recall there being a particular reason why certain WHDLoad games don't work on the minimig when in A1200 config, mostly from Graftgold but there are others too. I'm currently using a hardfile image from my Amiga 1200 which works fine on the real machine, but games like Uridium 2 and Rainbow Islands don't work on the minimig. Any idea if t...
