Re: Hybrid AO486 core?
I'd rather have improved compatibility and functionality. 486 bridges the gap between games from the 80's to games from the mid-90's. There are plenty of DOS games that don't function properly with the current core. That being said, if anybody is considering a hybrid solution to emulate the CPU, I suggest taking a look at the Rock Pi X. Unlike the ...

Re: Getting MT-32 music to work on Frederik Pohl's Gateway with a mt32-pi HAT
I found a thread over at vogons that may provide insight.

TLDR, Gateway doesn't play nice if the MT-32 isn't connected to a real Roland MPU-401 MIDI interface.

Re: Scanline filters not working after latest update
MiSTer has always been a tinker toy. For better or worse. Usually the new ideas/additions end up being better in the long run.
Right now, I'm using the Gaussian filters to approximate the settings I used for composite blend.

Re: Scanline filters not working after latest update
Just updated this evening, and im confused now. Where is the nice composite blend filter? I used that to give a nice soft look to some of the filters.. i dont see the option now anywhere? They are not compatible. ghogan42 or someone else will have to create new composite blend filters from scratch. https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/Filters_MiSTer/pu...

Re: Fixing the Secret of Monkey Island Freezing
Thank you. I can confirm that I can play the SOTM talkie version all the way through without freezing.
This fix also helps MI2 talkie version as well, but it does freeze at the very end when the big whoop amusement park employee yells at the kids. I'm using the Top 300 pack with HIMEM enabled.

Re: AO486 Compatibility List
I installed The Lost Files of Sherlock Holmes: The Case of the Serrated Scalpel on both the Top 300 and the My Menu shareware VHD's. The keyboard and mouse both lock up and don't work once the game starts. I tried changing memory managers, changing cache usage, etc, and I wasn't able to find a solution. The game features an excellent MT-32 soundtra...

Merry Christmas!
I bought a 7-port powered hub from Monoprice a couple years ago. Still works great. https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=21787

Thanks to UDPMIDI I'm able to use Virtualmidisynth, which uses the BASSMIDI library. My two preferred soundfonts work best with Virtualmidisynth/BASSMIDI and don't sound correct on fluidsynth for some reason.

Re: Depricated.
First off, thanks so much Flynnsbit for putting this together. I finally got around to setting this up & am loving it. I've run into a couple of issues - I can't get any sound to work for DOOM no matter which sound option I pick. Full Throttle intro seems to work but at any point after that the game just freezes on a black screen. The same thi...

Re: Shadow Mask development reference post CRT close up shadowmasks as refrence
The biggest difference I see between my oled 4k with masks + Custom filters and my CRTs is the black areas. On the CRT (Samsung GXE1395) you still get the RGB stripes in blacks and some subtle blending into it where as on my OLED they are black. Is there a mask option to carry the mask over true black areas? Maybe my greed driver is turned up too ...

Re: Where to get the new shadow mask filter?
I've been trying out the shadow mask filters while playing Chrono Trigger on the SNES core. So far, the one I prefer is TrashUncle's slot-mask-RGB with 1x rotation. It does a good job of preserving detail while producing that "CRT" look.

Re: Music not working properly for Turbo Out run with 8521 CIA
According to comments on a youtube video, the original hardware had the same issues. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qG82RMyS07Y Andrew Brown - Shame my c64c never played the samples properly back in the day.. Phonolith303 - @Andrew Brown my C64C, too. It's because later C64s contained a 8580 MOS Technology SID Soundchip with different volume handl...

Re: Wishlist of Cores You Would Like to See in the Future
This is a super low priority request. Texas Instruments TI-83/TI-84 graphing calculator The TI-83's were provided to students during my middle school and high school years in the mid to late 90's. They were programmable, so there were a small selection of games to play. Here's a website describing the games. https://www.calculatorti.com/ti-games/ti...
