Cannot get smooth scrolling in 1440p

So before I explain my issue: - I have my MiSTer hooked up to a gaming 1440p monitor with VRR. - I am using 1920*1440 resolution in 4:3 - I have 0 issues with any other cores including PAL cores like C64 - I have AGS correctly setup The issue: When playing games in 1920*1440 resolution scrolling is a mess. Both in 50hz or 60hz (not that it should d...

Yes you can do 1920*1440p which is perfect if your monitor does 4:3 in 1440p.

Re: Want to Purchase a MiSTer Confused About Video Options and Display Compatibility

Forget 1536p, there's literally 1 screen that does that and it's tiny.

What I use, which is I believe the best setup possible is:

1440p + VRR (make sure it goes under 50hz) + 4:3 option in 1440p mode

Re: IREM M72 & M84 Core (R-Type, R-Type II, Image Fight, Ninja Spirit, Gallop : Armed Police Unit)

I am having an issue with the in-core 57/60hz option. When I enable these the game works and get a display, but there is like noise in the picture. I tried on 2 different panels. Issue very visible when enabling a crt shader like Trinitron or PVM.

Re: R-Type Frequency Too Low Help

I am testing RType and GALLOP Armed Police at 57hz and 60hz but it seems there is some weird flickering / picture noise going on when scrolling. Tested with two displays. Very visible when using Sony Trinitron Preset. Can someone see if the problem replicates? This doesn't at 55hz but then the scrolling stutters (but that's a tv issue) Any ideas? T...

I would still get stuttering like this though.

12characters wrote: Sat Aug 20, 2022 2:03 pm It might not be the solution that you are looking for, but you can edit MiSTer.ini to use vscale_mode=0 for this specific core.

Code: Select all

[M72]
vsync_adjust=0
vrr_mode=0
Heh well yeah. I do get a picture but the tv is resampling it to hell and back, so it's a stutterfest. While I appreciate your input, the result will be pretty much the same :/

R-Type Frequency Too Low Help

I play MiSTer on my TV which is VRR enabled. The lowest it goes is around 56hz. This was never an issue until I played R-TYPE and GALLOP Armed Police Unit both of which run at an even lower frequency. I wonder if there's some kind soul who can modify these cores to make them run slightly faster (56/57hz) to make the games compatible with my and oth...

I own an Eizo S2133. Doesn't work with Pal stuff or off spec arcade games. But for everything else is awesome, especially Tate. Brightness is incredible and the panel is very responsive too.

Would it be possible for someone to add these or it really has to come from the developer? Thanks! I'll update blackwine's repo and add them. Another case where vertical crop will probably affect gameplay but whatever. Thanks you're t...

Re: 1440p in LG 32GK850G monitor

The only solution would be to pass the signal through a Retrotink 5x. I know, it's very expensive. I thought the 5x was also stuck at 1920x1440? At least for scaling. Only the 720p line doubling mode supports 2560x1440. Well in theory you can use a component cable @720p from the Mister and into the Retrotink 5x.... But I don't feel it's worth the ...

Vertical cropping displayed for 1200p except C64 core

I am testing a 1200p monitor with MiSTer. For some reason vertical cropping is disabled in the menu is disabled for console and arcade cores I tested. It is available for the C64 core though.

Any ideas as in why? Thanks!

Unfortunately it is very difficult to automate :-/ as each source files are different. On top of that, I don't believe you can automate the compilation online with github tasks for example. As for the neogeo, no worries, I will maintain this fork for a long time. My setup is done and it takes me just a couple of minutes to sync, compile and deploy...

Re: Change core clock from 59.18 hz to 60 hz

I really appreciate people patching cores to 60hz even though certain certain elitist gatekeepers, don't appreciate because they are against options. Is there a way this can be automated, especially for arcade cores where frequencies are all over the place!

Thanks and keep up the good work.
