Far cheaper to buy a used vintage Speak'n'Spell for $30-40 and de-solder the SC-01?

Glad you got it sorted. I also have my two XBox 360 controllers working via the adaptor.

Re: VIC-20 MegaCart Support
Looks like someone has filed a bug report about the NTSC issue, so hopefully it will be fixed in due course.

Re: VIC-20 MegaCart Support
@beamrider There's no chance there were two different regional releases of the cart, is there? Trying to work out whether it's a cart thing or a MiSTer thing. Pretty sure, it's a single self-adapting cart. Also, if you run up VICE, set the emulator to NTSC and attach the mega-cart ROM then Vic-Rally-X works without issues so it's definitely a MiST...

Re: VIC-20 MegaCart Support
Come to think of it, I'm not 100% convinced that the megacart is, in fact, NTSC compatible...there's a considerable number of 'PAL fixed' games included that may well be rendered no longer compatible with NTSC as a result (and not marked as such). Rally-X, that is included in the megacart, works. Could be that the cart is PAL only. Many of the car...

Re: VIC-20 MegaCart Support
The mega-cart does everything the Penultimate does and more (apart from the TFW8B) games. A pity you can't really obtain them any more.

Re: VIC-20 MegaCart Support
I don't think so.
The reason Cheese & Onion doesn't work is due to the MiSTer Vic-20 core itself not being particularly accurate. Quite a few games don't work or have issues.

Re: Share the most terrible retro gaming memory you have
A friend of my parents worked at an electronics store in the seventies and eighties. He often gave my parents white label records. He heard I had a VIC-20 and gave me some games. Two were prototype cartridges, without labels, probably in-store demo versions. They contained eproms. One of them was Q*Bert, the other one was Popeye, both by Parker Br...

Re: S-Video and Composite Over Component Output! (Custom Cores)
MikeS1's upcoming board will probably help with the color coming in. A few people have had issues with the luma signal not coming in strong enough. Cable length seems to make a big difference without a board to assist in the process. I was under the impression the up-coming board was just for composite? I'm just using s-video currently. As for get...

Re: S-Video and Composite Over Component Output! (Custom Cores)
@Mikes1, thanks for the updates. Are the cores still a WIP or are they reasonably complete? Reason for asking is I still can only get the C64/SMS/Genesis/NES/SNES cores working in PAL with colour, others all remain in monochrome. Just wondered if this is something that we can expect to be fixed eventually or perhaps it is something outside your con...

Re: S-Video and Composite Over Component Output! (Custom Cores)
I am in the UK and using a PAL Commodore 1702, some of the cores work under PAL others remain in monochrome. You have to set some of the cores also to the EU region in the OSD in addition to selecting s-video to get colour out. Thinking about it, you might need a custom adapter for SCART/s-video to ensure that luma/chroma from Red/Green is wired to...

Just to state the obvious, but with RGB, you wouldn't need the cores that are the subject of this thread.

Re: S-Video and Composite Over Component Output! (Custom Cores)
Cool, how about the cables people are using at the moment? Do they have to be custom made, or can it be something off the shelf? I think most people are going with a standard VGA to Component/RGB cable with the three phono output plugs (this is sufficient for e.g. a Commodore 1702 monitor using red/green) and then a y-adapter to either an s-video ...

Re: S-Video and Composite Over Component Output! (Custom Cores)
@MikeS1 I made a quick picture showing the wrong colours in PAL (the light diagonal parts are the colours I see). The C64 colors are also wrong I discovered as well on using more software. https://photos.app.goo.gl/J479DtFjCmKRukBk6 Seems like Red &Green swapped over? Re: S-Video and Composite Over Component Output! (Custom Cores)
Did you turn S-video on in the OSD in the core? Is this NTSC or PAL (PAL currently has some issues) Also, this is not a desirable way to convert Y/C to composite. You need a capacitor going across the red and green leads like in this circuit linked below at the very least. https://www.epanorama.net/circuits/svideo2cvideo.html Ideally though you'll...

Re: S-Video and Composite Over Component Output! (Custom Cores)
@MikeS1
PAL Observations:-
I can confirm the C64 core seems to work okay, the colours look roughly correct.
I also managed to get colour on the SMS and NES cores, but as per the SNES and Genesis they didn't look to be correct from initial observations.

Re: S-Video and Composite Over Component Output! (Custom Cores)
Thanks for the new cores! This time, I was able to get colour from the Genesis and SNES in PAL, although I think the colours were off - Sonic had a pink background. I thought it might be my monitor, but switched to the C64 core and colours look good there. NeoGeo core still only monochrome, didn't have time to test the others. Very much appreciate ...

Re: Adjustable Composite Converter?
Gave this a try tonight on my Commodore 1702 (PAL) monitor. I only got colour with the C64 core. Not all cores were designed for PAL and have that option, but I'll look at fixing the other ones. I only tested PAL on the C64 with flynn. I need to find a PVM to test pal =/ Oh I didn't realise it was mainly NTSC so far. Thanks for your efforts ...

I think I'll wait for that to be implemented in the menu then as I don't have an HDMI monitor near my 1702.

Re: Adjustable Composite Converter?
I assume you need to also have an HDMI display connected in order to navigate the menu to launch an s-video enabled core?
I tried to connect the red green plugs to my 1702 but just got a static like display.
