Re: Games switching to interlaced mode : scaling factor not restored properly

Hi ! I've given a try again and this issue still occurs.
For instance, try to play Lionheart : the ingame scaling factor is still incorrect and the picture is way too small ; same as Bill's Tomato for instance.

Do you guys & gals also have this issue ?

Re: Newbie - Amiga - RTG

Sorry if it was asked already. My scanlines don't play well with RTG modes unfortunately. Is it possible to have a distinct filter for AGA and RTG modes ? Or at least disable it for RTG modes ?

Re: Scaling artifact in 1080p

Yep, I tried overdrive setting, from -2 to +2... It does not seem to improve the situation. There is massive ghosting with the +1/+2 values. (visible when dragging a screen for instance) I really tend to think this monitor was not meant for this use case. But to such an extent this is surprising. I'll post my mist.ini ASAP. Also I'm gonna test this...

Re: Scaling artifact in 1080p

I'm not sure, I can test a bit later. But FYI even simple vertical scrollings in console cores in 60 Hz (i.e. The Addam's Family / Genesis) are little weird -- as if lines were partially disappearing. It's as if there were tons of remanence while this is a 1 ms screen. And yep : integer scaling enabled !

HI ! Nope actually it's something else, I do have integer scaling enabled ! I'm used to seeing "shimmering" on other monitors with uneven scaling. This is different.

Re: Scaling artifact in 1080p

Thank you so much, I've been mistaken for quite a long time -- I always thought integer scaling applied to both vertical & horizontal axis. Regarding the scrolling issues. This is not a lack of smoothness -- which is more or less noticeable depending in the game or screen. It's that, the picture really seem to be different when moving. As if so...

Re: Major scaling artifact in 1080p :-/

HI, thanks for your reply. Yep indeed I find it pretty tough to use the "adjust display" option ! Regarding my issues... 1) about the irregular letters : can any of you guys confirm you do have the same result as me, under the WB, when disabling all filters / FX ? (type several times the same letter in a terminal for instance and check if...

Re: Major scaling artifact in 1080p :-/

I think there are 2 différent issues after all. The distorted characters (visible on my both screens in hires) shows that the same letter is displayed differently depending on where it is on the screen. The scrolling issue happens only with my new gaming LCD in low res. It gives the unpleasant feeling the image changes when it is moving. Like partl...

Re: Major scaling artifact in 1080p :-/

Hmm, so it means the strange scrolling is unrelated and due to the screen :/ some lines seem to "dance" when there is a scrolling and nope it's not tearing.

And this is a 40-160 Hz iiyama monitor :(

Scaling artifact in 1080p

Howdy there ! I recently had to change my monitor and got a pretty expensive 1080p Iiyama monitor. I mainly use the Minimig core. I quickly had the feeling something was wrong with scrollings -- it was not as smooth as with my former cheaper monitor. I had the feeling some lines were inconsistently displayed, stuff was disappearing when scrolling....

Re: Second Reality Demo

Yep, there are probably 4 or 5 typical sound profiles :/. I guess games that had protracker-like soundtracks were really better with a gus, though. My memory of dos gaming around 1995 ? Pinball games for instance. They do not sound right with midi or adlib tracks but are downsampled / badly mixed with a soundblaster. That's probably my Amiga bias t...

Re: Second Reality Demo

Well, I'm not a specialist. I just remember that during a given period of time of the DOS era, games supporting it had a very significantly better sound quality versus software mixing -- which also didn't waste CPU cycles. I was shocked when playing Extreme Pinball and SB16 mode for instance that it sounded really low-fi -- worse than Amiga sounds ...

Hi ! Would be happy to donate quite a significant amount of money to fund a Gravis Ultrasound implementation :-) But all those developments are driven by passion and the amount of work actually put into them couldn't be funded.

But well, I'm suggesting a Patreon/bounty, just in case :)

Re: Floppy motor signals

Hi ! Would it be possible to bring the floppy sound buzzer support upstream ? It's great, useful, very simple, and doesn't IMHO compromise anything to add it.

It's a bit annoying to have to use an alternate build for this feature. Also, bringing it upstream would enable other people to add it to their IO Boards at a ridiculously low price.

Re: Floppy motor signals

Well, there must be a difference between floppy & HDD sounds, because you cannot reduce floppy access times that much when emulating a standard A500/A1200, and it gives a good indication of what's happening. Also it's great when it makes you realize some games / demos are getting data without interrupting the action. Well, I don't know, I feel ...

Re: Floppy motor signals

Hi ! I'm a big fan of this feature (Minimig core) -- using Antonio Villena's IO Board which has the buzzer built-in.
Is it actually implemented in the Atari ST core ? Doesn't seem to be the case.
As it's an "unofficial" feature, do you think it will be maintained in the future ? Thanks a lot !

Ah, so the DRIVE version has 2 internal ports and 5 external ones instead of 7 external ports ?

The SSD is to be plugged into one of those internal USB ports and the 2nd one is for its power supply ?

OK so the DRIVE version has pros & cons... Love the SLIM version !

Re: Outboard MIDI

I have two little questions :-) 1) Is there a way of having both a MT-32 (or Pi-Midi) and a Sound Canvas (or Fluidsynth) with a single ao486 configuration (with different MIDI ports so that you can set those once and for all in games) ? 2) would be pretty happy with Munt running on the MiSTer -- it seems it needs to be just a little be optimized. Re: Slowdown in games

Hi ! Regarding Rainbow Islands on the Amiga, did you use the cycle accurate 68000 mode (from the floppy disk ?) or a WHDLoad install with the (not cycle accurate) 68020 ?

That's not supposed to be related but do you use the low lag vsync adjust mode ?

Re: Optical/Toslink audio not working with arcade cores

Hi,

I'm using the optical output with no problem with the CPS 1. (using the "update-all" script)

Actually I couldn't find a single core which would not support it.

I don't have the official IOBoard though, but Antonio Villena's version.

cheers

Re: Has anyone tried low motion blur displays?

Hi thanks, I was thinking about this too. I used to own a 144 Hz monitor, on a Linux PC. I remember setting it to 120 Hz, so that I could insert a black frame in Retroarch emulator and enable the overdrive (or MBR or whatever). The animation was looking extremely smooth and clear but it was flickering and destroying my eyes. That was expected I gue...

Re: 68020 AGA core - 2 game issues

Yep, AFAIK, the 68000 implementation is cycle accurate contrary to the 68020 one. @ZigZag : you're right, one has to always double check with a real Amiga or emulated one with the proper settings (same configuration as the MiSTer one) to make sure the crash / bug is due to the Minimig core and not due to the game / whdload slave itself. As stated a...
