Re: DE25-Standard Terasic Inc Press release

Some of the features like the b/w display and the already on board SD-RAM make me think if the people at Terasic had the MiSTer project at least in the back of their mind designing the board. :)

You can mount the VHD in Windows, it is handled as any other drive. You should be able to defrag the drive from there, I never tried this.

Re: New Rotary Joystick From GRS in Pre-prod Testing

Can you set the buttons in other cores? OK here's what I found. Everything works perfectly if I used the alternative version of Ikari Warriors JP. Makes no sense as I deleted my Ikari warriors .mra/rbf files and ran update_all so it would grab it again. Would you be able to send me your .rbf/mra file or poinbt me where I can get it? I think I grab...

Re: New Rotary Joystick From GRS in Pre-prod Testing

I tried mapping the buttons to different insert coins/start to various buttons but still doesn't work for me. Pulling my hair out on this one. Buttons work just fine on other games just Ikari Warriors. Do you assign any buttons to the keyboard? I did try mapping buttons to keyboard as well jsut to see if they work but they don't work either for Ik...

Re: New Rotary Joystick From GRS in Pre-prod Testing

I see. I have been doing this only in the core itself not on the mister main menu. Thanks much for info. Edit: Something isn't right about my Ikari Warrirors. Mister sees the GRS fine so I can define buttons there in the main menu. In the core I can set the keys/buttons fine but I cannot start the game or insert coins. In Vicotry Road I don't have...

Re: New Rotary Joystick From GRS in Pre-prod Testing

Can you clarify what you mean by register device itself? I went into the game and mapped the buttons/stick to the way I want it and also set GRS joystick to enabled and saved settings from within the game. In the MiSTer main menu (not in the core) go to define joystick buttons and register the joystick and the buttons. You should do this with ever...

Re: New Rotary Joystick From GRS in Pre-prod Testing

I did not register it in the Mister Main menu, Is there an option to set the GRS joystick in the main menu? The rotation doesn't need to be registered in the MiSTer main menu. But you must register device itself. Just map the stick and the buttons. Otherwise the core can not recognise the device on the next load. Can you clarify what you mean by r...

Re: New Rotary Joystick From GRS in Pre-prod Testing

Yes, I did save the settings. The buttons appears to be non-responsive until I reconfigure them again in the core. Must be something I'm missing. Don't have to register them again, only did it one time. Did you register the device also in the MiSTer main menu? Re: Ghost in the Shell

Think it is a power supply issue? I loaded a few other games Lunar, Dino Crisis and didn't have a problem. I don't think I have any others laying around to switch out. I'll try unplugging some peripherals and I'll try a different bin/cue to test it. Every time I had this issue it was a broken power supply for me, two of my PSUs died in the last ye...

Re: New 8Bitdo Keyboard Works?

The keyboard works fine out of the box. What I haven't yet tried is the Super Buttons and the Super stick. You need to configure them in Windows and assign to a profile. Did anybody try yet with MiSTer? I have the Famicom Edition with the Super Buttons and they work fine on the MiSTer, configured one of them as a screenshot button. Comes in very h...

Re: Some Spectrum games load fine in 48K mode but not 128k mode

Modding boot.rom to use the original 128 BASIC editor ROM rather than the one from the Pentagon (I realised this is why you get the TR-DOS menu entry on the 128/+2 model). Thanks for investigating this. As an aside, any chance you could share this boot.rom? I wouldn't mind seeing the "original" 128 menu (I believe it says "Tape Test...

Re: Some Spectrum games load fine in 48K mode but not 128k mode

Can confirm that the Matchday II TZX loads fine in 128 mode via the Tape/Sound port on my +3. EDIT: Forgot to mention is also loads fine on my +3 with DivMMC connected. That's an interesting info, so my DIVMMC theory can be put to rest. I have no clue at all why it does work on the +3 but not on the MiST(er), Omni, eLeMeNt and Spectrum Next. Can't...

Re: Some Spectrum games load fine in 48K mode but not 128k mode

Ok, even if we assume DIVMMC is a red herring in this case, and that the Ultimate games will load on 128 machine when going through 48k Basic (as they do on this core), it still leaves the case of the Match Day II. I'm not near my +2A these days to test it, and OP states he managed to load it via Tape Loader on the 128. Even assuming he misremembe...

Re: Some Spectrum games load fine in 48K mode but not 128k mode

Not having a VHD loaded effectively disables the DivMMC. If you are getting the 128K menu at core startup then the DivMMC is disabled. This is not the case, at least not if you use the Rom that is provided with the core. When you set the core to Spectrum 128 you get a Rom that has a TR-DOS shortcut by default. The DIVMMC is active with this settin...

Re: Some Spectrum games load fine in 48K mode but not 128k mode

Have you tried the folowing command? OUT 32765,48 If you have a DIVMMC enabled this will change the paging of the 128. That command works and loads Matchday 2. However I never had to do this back in the day so how do I disable DIVMMC? What is DIVMMC? I can see it mentioned in the menus but I can't see where to disable it. Not having a VHD loaded e...

Re: New Rotary Joystick From GRS in Pre-prod Testing

How do you get forgotten word/heavy barrel and Midnight resistence to work? Re: New Rotary Joystick From GRS in Pre-prod Testing

GRS Super Joystick support arrived in the Ikari Warriors games. Just set your Stick to keystroke mode 12 ways (green blinking) and enable it in the core. Enable GRS in the core settings, no need to configure rotation in the key settings of the core. Just define the other keys and press finish when asked for the rotation keys. Works great. I just g...

Re: New Rotary Joystick From GRS in Pre-prod Testing

@kubbie The card board should be sturdy enough for using the joystick, but I think it's ergonomically a catastrophe. There is almost no hand rest....and...well...it's a small box with edges. I recommend this only for people that definitely won´t want to get something better. The box is designed to work with the joystick....no more, no less. I just...

Re: Atari Jaguar Core

Prices for Jaguars are ridiculous, but this is expected. It is a niche system with under 200000 units sold worldwide. Most of them were thrown aways or are broken so the number of working consoles is very small. On the other hand it is a system with a solid but small library. If you are into collecting consoles the Jaguar is attractive because it i...

strange how everyone experiences this so different. Could it be the sounds ? I know this might sound mad, but I love the stepping sound of a 5 1/4" disk drive, as it accesses the tracks on the floppy disk. For you, and other tape fans, could it also be the loading sounds ? Re: Some Spectrum games load fine in 48K mode but not 128k mode

I think where a lot of the nostalgia comes from isn't just the tape loading, it's the physical tape itself, the tape inlay card, along with the artwork, and screenshots. This is more special for me for old disk games on Atari 8-bit, and C64. I have a vast collection for both machines, and those disk wallets, with the excellent A4 artwork holds a l...
