MS DOS 3.3 is small, lightweight and fast on an XT. The later versions use up more conventional memory.

I know there are circuit diagrams for the disk system in the PCJr reference I linked to on the first page of this thread. I don't know if that can help us at all though.

Unless it's in a private chat or explicitly asked not to be shared, I fail to see the problem. Both forums and Discord are public platforms after all. I don't really care for the rbf myself, it's just it's not the first time when Discord sounds like some sort of special club. And I'd rather think we're one MiSTer community. It's not a special club...

Re: MiSTer PCXT
Now we just need either floppy or IDE support so those of us without COM adapters can play along at home. I am not sure if IDE would even work with this. Back then, the drives were RLL or MFM from what I recall. Hard drive controllers were self contained 8-bit ISA cards and there were definitely IDE ones later on when MFM and RLL drives became obs...

I wouldn't be surprised if this port uses parts of the ARM CPU not utilized by any other games.

Re: Advanced cores for MiSTer future FPGA hardware
Price depends on what we're talking about. The board being targeted for the current N64 core in development is a $479 Multimedia dev board. Robert has said to replicate the 3D hardware of the Nintendo DS, even the largest $4000 development board isn't feasible.

Re: MT32-Pi Why?
The MT-32 was a pretty sophisticated piece of hardware in 1987. It cost $700 which is $1800 in today's money. Replicating it would probably require it's own core. All the cores that benefit from it (AO486, Minimig, X68000, etc..) are already very large.

Dreamcast's release date was so early it's almost like Gen 5.5, but on the other hand it had online features that wouldn't become common until 7th gen.

Re: N64 Core Possibility? (Update! Robert Is Working On This Core!)
The PSX was such a huge success and had such a massive library that it has 200+ really great titles. The N64 has a great library too but it's much, much smaller.
Any platform with so many first party Nintendo games is worth preserving properly, even Virtual Boy.

Re: PSX Core Official Release
I was an early adopter of 3D video cards and the games made for my Rendition V1000 and Voodoo1 cards ran circles around what the PSX and N64 could do. The library of 3D games on the PC was pretty small in early 1997 though. I remember the full screen anti-aliasing on the Rendition card being particularly impressive. 3D ports tended to be a lot nice...

Does anyone know: Is the speed of the core (frames per second) identical to the real PSX? I never owned one, but did it really not even run with 30FPS in many games, or at least had slowdowns? Thank you! :-) Yeah, the whole PCs are superior to console gaming actually started in this era due to the stark differences in game framerate, resolution, e...

Re: S-Video and Composite Over Component Output! (Custom Cores)
Lu's video says you need to go to s-video before composite, but I'm just going component straight to composite with no s-video in between. Am I going to break something doing it this way? edit: apparently there's a possibility of damage, gonna grab those s-video cables Out of curiosity, what would the risk of damage be? I'm also using a VGA->Compo...

Re: N64 Core Possibility? (Update! Robert Is Working On This Core!)
The N64 was a beast with all the latest technologies of the time. SGI graphics, Rambus RDRAM and a MIPS VRX CPU clocked at 94 Mhz. It was only hampered by a small amount of texture cache and cartridges.lordoftime79 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 27, 2022 10:20 am N64 should be possible with existing DE10! we have a PSX and 32X core and both are more complex and powerful than the N64!

What would be nice is an optimized bob that shifts the odd/even fields toward each other by one pixel to reduce the bobbing effect. That at least should be able to be done without adding lag.

YES! Been waiting for this. Glad he's still doing okay and I hope he remains safe. I'm at work, does this work with the MegaCD core at all to play CD/32X enhanced games as of yet?? It probably never will. from Sorg“non-CD version. CD version probably won't fit as it requires too much SRAM amount in total. AFAIK 32X CD games are just enhanced avail...

Re: S-Video and Composite Over Component Output! (Custom Cores)
Awesome initiative and amazing work @MikeS1 ! I've got everything working for the most part, but noticing the colors are definitely off and there appears to be more flickering/shimmering when compared to using Antonio's adapter. Not having dot crawl is nice, but these drawbacks outweigh the dot crawl for me unfortunately. Using a standard VGA to c...
