Re: N64 Core Possibility? (Update! Robert Is Working On This Core!)
with talks on the forum about a mish mash of software and hardware emulation, you never know. Such an approach would have all the same issues as the current software emulators. The N64 hardware is fast and that RDRAM has extremely low latency and the CPU and graphics could use it simultaneously. That's not going to work well with a hybrid approach...

ypbpr=1 needs to be set and the SOG switch on the analog board needs to be set to on.

Re: S-Video and Composite Over Component Output! (Custom Cores)
Without the capacitor the signal is going to be out of spec. Even though most TVs will still display a picture, it's going to have more artifacting than it should. The capacitor isn't really that robust of a solution, an actual luma trap will work better, especially on some arcade cores and Genesis.

Re: Simulating CRT scanlines for Guncon?
Sample and hold displays cannot emulate this behavior. They are not fast enough, by an order of magnitude. Plus there's an issue with display latency on top of that.

Re: S-Video and Composite Over Component Output! (Custom Cores)
Hi! I've tried to make it work the cores (last version) on my Trinitron Tv CRT but it shows only some noise on black screen, why? I'm using VGA -> Component -> Two Female RCA to one Male -> Composite Did you turn S-video on in the OSD in the core? Is this NTSC or PAL (PAL currently has some issues) Also, this is not a desirable way to convert Y/C ...

Re: S-Video and Composite Over Component Output! (Custom Cores)
I know others have stated that this eliminates the need for Antonio's adapter, but will it nonetheless work *with* Antonio's adapter for stable composite output? Asking because I already have it here and now as opposed to VGA->Component->Composite cables No, Antonio's adapter is a scan converter that actively runs the video signal through ICs that...

This is awesome news! I'd love to finally get rid of the dot crawl I get from Antonio's adapter :) Thanks for all that awesome work! Noob question: I understand the VGA -> Component -> S-video conversion (with this adapter), but what connectors are required to to VGA -> Component -> Composite? You can use an adapter like this to go from S-video to...

Re: Adjustable Composite Converter?
The Mister menu works on the CRT. The only time you'll need to connect an HDMI is when you need to run scripts, or run cores that need higher resolutions intended for computer monitors. With the experimental s-video cores you would need to browse to them using an hdmi monitor because the MiSTer menu doesn't yet support s-video natively. You can br...

Re: IBM PCJr Core
The Tandy didn't have any speech. I think the ao486 core is probably too full to add this sort of stuff. I think it makes sense to put the Tandy 1000/PC jr and PC/XT in their own core as they share a lot of components and things like cycle accuracy could be possible. We're never going to have that in the ao486 core, at least not on the DE-10 Nano. ...

Re: IBM PCJr Core
I'm not saying this would be an easy core to make, but most of the hard stuff in terms of research and such is basically done already. The only non standard chips would be the ones responsible for the Tandy/PCjr sound and graphics. The only thing custom is IBM's video gate array. The MC6845 is implemented in FPGA already in the BBC Micro and Amstr...

Re: Help Understanding CRT issue
The place to be doing geometry adjustments is in the service menu. It's really not too difficult, just write down all the default settings before you start messing around. You need to really get a feel for all the adjustments and what they do and know that many settings interact with each other. While flat tubes have tend to have a lot of issues, t...

Re: Release DE10 Nano Overclock Kernel BETA
The big problem with the N64 is it has pretty large and very fast memory busses, much larger and faster than pretty much any other contemporary device. The SDRAM boards are not particularly large and fast by comparison, and it's taking a lot of clever designing like running the SDRAM faster than the original system's memory so that it can emulate ...

Re: GBC Rumble Support
Yeah, now that we have it in main be great for it to be implemented in other cores. I am wondering if there are any other cores that could use it. Did any of the 486 era PC games have feedback/rumble? If we get Pokemon Mini it could use rumble. There's probably not any 486 games that support it since the first PC controller with rumble was the Sid...

Those games are the first versions of the Sega Super Scaler hardware, predecessors to the Sega X/Y boards which were predecessors themselves to System 32. I am fully aware of the history, I lived through it. I also didn't ask for a history lesson, I asked 1 simple question that should have had one simple answer. 2 posts in, and already this forum ...

To use component with the analog board you need a cable like this one:
https://misteraddons.com/products/video ... 3472225413
You would also need to turn on the sync on green switch and update a few settings in the mister.ini file.

Does your TV only have Composite/S-Video, btw? See the first half of my original post. It's not a matter of necessity, but preference, as well as historical analysis. Here's an example of something only composite video can do: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Composite_artifact_colors#/media/File:OpenEmulator_Rendering.jpg You seem to not be understa...

Does each core developer have to apply this 'template' to their core? Or is it something I'd have to 'install' to my MiSTer myself? This is a template that will need to be applied to all the cores, I'm pretty sure MikeS plans to apply it to all the cores himself though. There's already test cores in the github link above that output Y/C over the a...

Re: Adjustable Composite Converter?
With my adapter is possible to send directly the color carrier clock, through vsync pin. But there is no support for that in the cores. Yup, exactly, that's what I meant when I said "I get the feeling it will be a long time, if ever, before we see cores that send the correct frequency to adapters like Antonio's that support the signal." ...

Ah, that's the guy from that thread I linked to above. Didn't know he's still working on it (the repo for the board itself had no activity recently). If he can make the changes to the cores so the composite works ok, it'd be great news. He gave up on his board and decided to implement it all natively instead. It's been really interesting to follow...

Is this one of these things luddites like me don't hear about because we're not on Twitter/Discord/... ? ;) Yes. https://twitter.com/MikeSimone3 https://github.com/MikeS11/Test_Pattern_YC Currently only S-video is implemented over the analog board. But he's looking to add composite support and direct video support.

Re: Windows NT 4 - WORKING on ao486!
Great to read and was (is) an interesting thread to read, too. Personally I'm not interested in running NT4 on MiSTer - but doesn't this also mean that OS/2 would become possible now? I just wanted to point out it looks like some progress has been made with OS/2. The mouse doesn't work at this point though. https://misterfpga.org/viewtopic.php?p=4...
