Thank you all for the input. Bas, your remarks on closing timing loops isn't something I had really considered. It seems really easy for something like this to desync for the game logic in a hurry. :\

Vectorization
https://youtu.be/eaJAns0HLuQ This video triggered me to remember an idea I have had for years now, but lacked the low-level understanding of the hardware to make happen. You wouldn't want to play the games this way due to the amount of lag you would face, however as we approach higher and higher screen resolution, applying these filters in post-pro...

Re: Taito Egret II Mini Rollerball/Spinner Controller
Mine just showed up as well, but under “define joystick buttons”, when I get to mouse right/mouse left etc, the trackball is just flat out ignored. I can map the buttons, but not the ball.

Only vaguely on-topic, but how were you utilizing minicom?
Away from mine right now, but if screen is present, you can use that as well.

Re: Ipad 3/4 Display with HDMI converter board
Sorry to tack onto this thread, but I am wanting to order a 12v 3a power for this screen, and I have seen two different plug sizes mentioned. One is 3.5mm, and another is 1.35mm. Which one is it, and is it positive or negative tip? the screen will have some basic instructions on the website page you purchased from ?? my LCD was from aliexpress and...

It is the HDMI-CEC line getting hosed up by the mister.
Either get a CEC-less cable, or a CEC-less pass through plug.

Re: Rolling picture with YPbPr
Although - I could have sworn composite video, and by extension, luma, was supposed to be 1vP-P. I should go look that up again. We may very well have this backwards. Overdriving the line the closer you get to white.

Re: Rolling picture with YPbPr
No problem. My own CRT is needing some parts still. I have the sync stripper stuff just laying here, but I kinda need a video display.
Hopefully it really is as simple as boosting the sync.

Re: Sinden Lightgun
Bumping a horribly old thread here. Merely as a point of curiosity and not so much any expectation of changes to MiSTer - what would software support have to entail anyway? I am thinking that once the fpga is configured, Linux is mostly out of the equation so far as displaying the image, so it wouldn’t be so trivial as modifying what is in the fram...

Composite is black and white luma mixed with chroma from s-video, or in this case b-y an...

Re: Rolling picture with YPbPr
Bah, wait. I misread you. You are measuring sync PLUS Y. For clarification, Y is your old school black and white television picture. We refer to it as “luma”. If you take that green wire, plug it into a composite video input, you should get a stable black and white picture. So sync plus Y Is yielding just short of 3v, but that doesn’t tell us the s...

Re: Rolling picture with YPbPr
Yeah, that *is* weak. How are you with a soldering iron? I really wish this forum had tap-a-talk support so I would get push notifications. Bleh.o I am thinking of sticking the same IC online that gets used in the genesis and snes RGB bypasses. If all three lines Y (which you just measured), R-Y and B-Y are about at that same weak level, it should ...

It would appear that Bionic Commando is broken again?
Looks like it boots to the system check screen, then flips the picture horizontally and then hangs. I just ran update-all yesterday. I could have sworn this was working prior, but maybe I am losing my mind a bit? :P Was trying to load up Top Secret, as I was curious about the localization changes there versus the NES release. Tried all of the alts,...

Re: Rolling picture with YPbPr
Seems to me we should probably get a read on all 3 lines, and if needed build a simple circuit to attenuate the signal. We are talking super cheap, less than $5 USD in parts.
I wish I owned an oscilloscope. I could nail this to the wall.

Re: Rolling picture with YPbPr
I did a little digging, and apparently anything between 0.3vp-p and 1.0vp-p is acceptable, so that sync pulse would have to be awfully weak.

Re: Rolling picture with YPbPr
Actually, that should be pretty simple to do if it is truly the problem. My understanding is that the sync pulse should be 1.0Vp-p (peak to peak). If you run the composite sync line to a probe for a multimeter with a peak-hold feature, you should be able to measure that directly. You could even use a sync stripper on the Y (green) line of the YPbPr...

Re: Raspbian on de10-nano
I lied a bit. It was mDNS that I was thinking of that had me looking for a package manager. For grins I did take raspbian on an sdcard and attempt booting it. Looks like it either doesn't fully boot, or if it does it isn't driving the hdmi output, and the UART port doesn't show up on my laptop - so that idea may be DOA anyway.

Raspbian on de10-nano
I am very new to mister. I am aware the mister is less powerful when it comes to the arm cpu than a raspberry pi, and that we are building on top of the Linux provided by Terrasic. The worm in my brain though is loading raspbian onto an sd card, then trying to build the fpga stuff on top of that, leaving one with all of the benefits of raspbian (pr...
