Re: Questions for users without an IO board

So I'm looking at my MiSTer acrylic case from https://misterfpga.co.uk/, and the case I would be making would have to be literally the same size to accomodate the height of the SDRAM. Basically almost the same case but with fewer holes

Is this something people would want?

Re: Questions for users without an IO board

When I was building my third one I used the 40mm version of the one Calolo posted until I received more parts. I used this one in a little 3d printed arcade cab that wasn't really designed for anything bigger than an RPi4. 40mm fans will run a bit quieter and are more readily available, so that is probably the right way to go for your design. Exce...

Interesting, what is the fan mounted to? Is it a 40 mm?

I am using a 30mm fan (from Amazon) and printed this:

Awesome, thanks. I'm thinking to make hole mounts for a 40 mm fan in the top plate so that people can mount one if they want

Hi,

I don't have the IO Board, only the DE10 board and SDRAM.

To keep the GPIO1 free (for the DExx-vd_isl board), the 5v fan is plugged in the ADC Header.

Interesting, what is the fan mounted to? Is it a 40 mm?

Questions for users without an IO board

From time to time I see people who only have the DE10 Nano and USB hub and wish there were case options (besides 3D printed). I'm considering designing an acrylic case for these people, but I have some questions. Do you have a fan in such a setup? Does it plug into the GPIO? I ask because I would assume I need to accommodate holes to screw in a fan...

Re: Neo Geo CPU Overclocking?

I would not want to see it. the game is behaving correctly now. Its the same as real HW It would be a toggle though, not on by default, so users could choose You don't see the debate in on another thread. For an unknown reason there is some purist that don't want it. Even telling them this is an option that can be disable is too much for them appa...

Just saw this, I'm also curious if this option will be added officially!

Re: Why is the default layout flipped from the Neo Geo CD Pad?

I think it's fine if the MiSTer core is doing what makes sense for its platform. Positional mapping is a feature of the platform, currently not used in the core. It is relative to a SNES gamepad so mapping to a Neogeo CD controller is the most natural Has anybody tried my build with gamepad_defaults=1 ? Just tried it and it works beautifully ❤️❤️❤️

Re: Why is the default layout flipped from the Neo Geo CD Pad?

Set it correctly in Core menu. Cost 10sec of time ;) Do you mean remap the buttons? If you do, I'm aware of how to remap it, I was looking to fix the issue. Why not fix it at the core level if possible? That's framing it as something to "fix". Neo Geo layout I'm finding out is very much a personal preference. Unless someone is using the ...

I just checked, and positional mapping is not implemented for the Neogeo core.

Basically this part of the core config string:

Code: Select all

J1,A,B,C,D,Start,Select,Coin,ABC
should have two versions (jn and jp).
Interesting, so is this an issue I should bring up on github?

Why is the default layout flipped from the Neo Geo CD Pad?

I am genuinely curious and ignorant to the reason for this. Looking at the OEM original control pads, the layout is: CD AB But on a regular controller set up with the SNES layout in the MiSTer controller config, it defaults to this: DC BA Now to make things more confusing of course, the Neo Geo mini pads have their own unusual layout, but it doesn'...

Re: DIY cartridge reader add-on board

That's a lot of IOs ! I'll keep this topic in the corner of my head to see what can be done I'm brand new to MiSTer but this thread has me intrigued. Do you have more information on the board you're working on? Also, to anyone knowledgeable- would the new Retroarch Open Hardware https://www.libretro.com/index.php/introducing-the-retroarch-open-har...
