Re: My TV recently stopped accepting HDMI input from MiSTer
I use an HDMI switch with my TV, and have a lot of stuff connected to my TV, and I ran into a similar problem after I got a new TV, the old TV worked just fine with the MiSTer FPGA, but the new TV would suddenly stop accepting input on one of the HDMI ports, so I tried the second HDMI port, and it would work for some time and then just stop working...

Re: Does a Metal Enclosure Need to Be Grounded?
If you have something like three wire AC 120v going into the metal case, then yes you should ground the metal case, that is just standard wiring, and I always try my best to have all the ground wires all go to the same point on the metal box, and that ground point is normally a nut and bolt, bolted to the case. You ground a metal case for safety re...

Re: Anyone here into VR?
I love VR, and I had spent about 800 hours in Skyrim VR, but after that I came to the realization that there almost no "long play" games in VR, and I just don't want to spend $30 or $40 on a game that only lasts 10 to 20 hours and has no re-play value. Also I hate Facebook, back when Oculus was still Oculus and you could have an Oculus on...

Re: Problem with JAP Games
If you are using an external hard drive to store you games, and using the "Update_All_MiSTer" script, the BIOS gets downloaded to the SD card, the problem with that is, the core expects to load the games from the same drive were it loads the BIOS files, I have been told you can set-up "Symbolic Links" on Linux that is running on...

Re: Slow Write Speeds When Using External HDD
I can think of a few things that limit the speed of an external hard drive on the MiSTer FPGA: USB 2.0, the MiSTer FPGA is USB 2.0 Power, "some" external hard drives need a lot of power, the MiSTer FPGA hub only seems to put out enough power for the average dongle, mouse or keyboard. A lot of "portable" USB hard drives are slow ...

Re: External Power Supply for USB Powering MiSTer FPGA
All, I am using an an external USB Hub that uses a 5V 3A AC adapter. I am also using a 5V 6A AC adapter to power my MisterFPGA. I noticed that my Mister is still on even after when I unplugged my MisterFPGA power supply. I have a couple of questions. 1. Do I even need the power supply for my Mister if I use the power supply for the USB hub? 2. Is ...

Re: Documentation/Information on External Storage Setup
I am using NTFS on an external hard drive, the directory structure is like this on the root of my drive: PSX MegaCD TGFX16-CD with no "games" folder on the hard drive, and the names of the directories matching how they are on the SD card, and the matching directories on the SD are empty. If you have the BIOS files on the SD card it will o...

... Also I dislike that the Update_All_MiSTer script ignores a hard drive full of directories and then recreates the "missing" directories on the SD card, making the files on the hard drive invisible to the cores, and forcing you to delete the directories from the SD card again. Could you nelaborate on that? I am using a USB drive which ...

Re: Make Mega CD BIOS "Name Based" Rather Than "Location Based"?
There is a region-free MegaCD BIOS, so you would not need to use multiple BIOS files, and I wonder why the Update_All_MiSTer script does not use it? Also I dislike that the Update_All_MiSTer script ignores a hard drive full of directories and then recreates the "missing" directories on the SD card, making the files on the hard drive invis...

I just got a "WD_BLACK 2TB P10 Game Drive" and the light on the drive comes on, but does not blink like it should if it's getting accessed by the MiSTer FPGA, and the MiSTer FPGA does not seem to see any ROMs placed on the drive, I tried placing ROMs in: GAMES/CORE/ROMS and CORE/ROMS the drive is formatted with NTFS, I am using a 5A power...

Re: Show Us Your MiSTers
I did some upgrades to my MiSTer FPGA enclosure: (1) I removed the unused VGA port and added two more USB ports. (2) I added an i2c2oled using a "diymore 2.42" OLED 128X64 LCD". (3) I painted the front of my MiSTer FPGA enclosure black, and used a laser engraver to add labels and logos. You can see how my MiSTer FPGA enclosure looked...

Great to see it working now! If you need to change Options use the file /media/fat/i2c2oled/i2c2oled-user.ini and set what you need! See https://github.com/venice1200/MiSTer_i2c2oled/blob/main/README.md#configuration Do you need to enable „SSD1309“? „ONECOLOR“ will be useful as well. Btw, I use Paint too  The display did work without any ...

Re: i2c2oled (little brother of tty2oled)
I moved the resistor from R4 to R3, and put a jumper on R5, but the screen did nothing, I could not even get "i2cdetect" to see the screen, I then connected RES to VCC using a 10k resistor and the screen showed up using "i2cdetect" at the address of "3d", I'm successfuly using a similar display - not this one, but a c...

Only had my Mister for a few days, so forgive my lack of knowledge here. But, since a mouse can be used as a light gun, could an Air-Mouse work ? I reset my MiSTer FPGA back to the original files, and then ran the update script, and tried a GUN4IR gun with the NES Duck Hunt game and the SNES Super Scope game, and it worked in both of them, but the tracking was off, I had to use the on-screen cross-hair to see were I was aiming, BTW the AimTrek gun also started working, but the AimTrek gun ha...

I just got a AimTrak light gun pretty cheaply and paired with a "Extreme IR Bar " it seems to work well on my LCD TV and PC games and emulators with the proper setup, however it refuses to work on the MiSTer FPGA, I followed the instructions at: How to use your Mouse as a Lightgun - MiSTer FPGA How-To https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uXdZw...

Re: How durable do you find the DE10-Nano to be?
I had read about the ports being easily damaged, and made a case for the MiSTer FPGA that protects all the ports buy adding external ports, the case is kinda boring, bland, and utilitarian, but it protects every port on the MiSTer FPGA.

Re: MiSTer vs Original XBOX emulation
Does it require soldering and/or desoldering? A skill I don't have. If it simply involves opening the system and ripping something out, that I CAN do. Yea, you can rock the bad capacitor back and forth until it falls off, but you will also need to clean around it with something like alcohol, and let it dry for some time, when that capacitor leaks ...

Re: Bluetooth or not?
I like the 2.4 Ghz. USB dongle type keyboards that have a mouse bundled with them, they seem to work perfectly, and you don't have to pair them, and they only use one dongle for both keyboard and mouse. Also a lot of the 2.4 Ghz wireless gamepads seem to have less lag than the Bluetooth gamepads, so I would tend to believe that the 2.4 Ghz keyboard...

How many arcade cores use more than 2 buttons? I'm assuming fighting games but I've never been into them. I got the "Mayflash Arcade Stick F300 Elite" for under $70 from Amazon, it was a open box unit, all that was wrong was missing screw-on rubber feet, it works pretty good, but I think the Sanwa buttons and joystick are too soft for me, and there is not enough room for your left hand to rest when playing for long periods of time. Re: MiSTer Daemonbite Arcade Adapter - How to Build & Setup for Arcade Sticks
Two things to note when dealing with the cheap "Pro Micro ATmega32U4" boards is that the failure rate it a bit high, and the USB connector will break off very easily, so buy more than you need, if you need one, get two or three, and you might want to add some more solder to the metal tabs on sides of the USB connector that hold the USB co...

Re: Wishlist of Cores You Would Like to See in the Future
Pocket PC, the lack of a touch screen might be a problem, but I don't think so, a mouse would likely work just fine for this, and it might also be fun to play with Windows CE on the MiSTer FPGA. Something that might act like an old early 2000s cell phone and play the Java Games they had back then, pre-android, and pre-touchscreen stuff. A more mode...
