Re: The Result of My Search for a Great MiSTer Display

A word of warning for anyone using the 240p test suite with this monitor - I ran the Genesis one for a few minutes and flickering vertical bars remained burned into the screen for hours afterwards.

Fortunately they went away, but was a bit worrying.

Does the TurboGrafx core work for you with vsync set to 2 and video mode 13? Here’s what I’m using for TurboGrafx/PC Engine on this screen with Aspect Ratio → Full Screen — no issues at all: [tgfx16] video_mode=1800,48,32,80,1386,3,10,27,167698 This is from the previously mentioned atrac17 presets . Thanks Limi, that works perfectly for me!

Re: 9.7" iPad Retina Screen Perfect for MiSTer, $60 Fully Assembled 😄

I think it's more to do with the refresh rate, I've tried different power supplies but didn't make any difference. If the refresh rate is the issue, why does it work with a lower resolution (video mode 1)? The refresh rate stays the same, right? Fair point, I don't understand the inner workings, but I read that the pixel clock is adjusted for mode...

Re: 9.7" iPad Retina Screen Perfect for MiSTer, $60 Fully Assembled 😄

I 'fixed' this problem by using a previous version of the core (20210725). Picture is stable now with video mode 13 :) edit: Well... it still cuts out, but a LOT less often. Might this be a power supply issue? I think it's more to do with the refresh rate, I've tried different power supplies but didn't make any difference. My self assembled board ...

Re: 9.7" iPad Retina Screen Perfect for MiSTer, $60 Fully Assembled 😄

Hey guys! Does the TurboGrafx core work for you with vsync set to 2 and video mode 13? I get a black screen every couple of seconds. Other cores seem to work fine. When I set te video mode to 1 (1024x768) it works without a problem. What could cause this? I have the mini HDMI version powered with a separate USB power supply. I have the same proble...

Re: Robotron and Sinistar cores...

I had a quick look at this, I'm not familiar with verilog, but the files look more or less similar, aside from casing on 'ALL' and some whitespace. I replaced the cpu68.vhd in the main MiSTer branch with the jboone one (https://github.com/jboone/robotron-fpga-verilog/blob/master/rtl/cpu68.vhd) and compiled it, but couldn't tell any difference to th...

Re: 9.7" iPad Retina Screen Perfect for MiSTer, $60 Fully Assembled 😄

Does anybody know of a case for somebody who already has the screen and board? I've been looking at the LaserBear 3D case but I don't like the large CRT version. They are creating a tablet-shape (like the one from this product) but it might be a while. Where do you live? I 3d printed one that Sigismond0 https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4721767, c...

Re: Ipad 3/4 Display with HDMI converter board

Now then, inspired by the thread https://misterfpga.org/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=1438 I updated the Robotron core to run at 60hz rather than 60.1hz. Did a quick test and I got a few intermittent blankings, but once it settled down I played to level 68 on video mode 13 and vsync_adjust 2 without experiencing any problems. Didn't get any issues on su...

Re: Ipad 3/4 Display with HDMI converter board

Got the board today, fantastic screen if anything it's too bright! It seems happy enough at video_mode 0 (1280 x 720) in vsync_adjust=2 on Robotron, and looks fine stretched so good enough for me, big relief! Edit: video mode 12 looks better Looks like the display introduces a couple of frames of lag at non native resolution, so not a lot of benef...

Re: Ipad 3/4 Display with HDMI converter board

Just set up one of these with Laserbear's case, don't see myself using it as my main display but it's nice to have a little dedicated monitor for my MiSTer. Most cores seemed to work with Vsync set to Low Lag, but certain consoles like NES, SNES, and TG-16 didn't work unless I changed the Vsync. Also no luck on Robotron 2084 set to Low Lag, which ...

Re: Ipad 3/4 Display with HDMI converter board

Finally set up my screen, cheers Greg! Love this thing, you can get away with using non-integer scaling and you wont end up with noticeable shimmer, due to the high PPI of the screen for its size. So I tend to leave everything on 4:3 to fill the screen and use the "no interpolation" filter, apart from handhelds. Low lag sync mode works f...

Re: Ipad 3/4 Display with HDMI converter board

Has anyone tried powering the DE-10 via the USB port on the board? It claims it supplies 2.5A so could potentially given a suitable 12V supply powering the board.

Also, the board has 'speaker out' connections, anyone managed to hook those up for sound to small speakers?

Re: Robotron core alternative rom controls problem

Thanks for checking @retrodroid, sounds like it's a bug. Is there a standard way of reporting a bug, i.e. raising a GitHub issue?
I'd take a look myself but wouldn't know where to start.

Robotron core alternative rom controls problem

First of all thanks to everyone who's worked on this core, amazing work! I can assign controls OK (i.e. move, fire, coin) on the default Robotron ROM but if I do the same on one of the alternatives, i.e. the 87 ROM with the 'fire in corner' bug fixed, or a 'tie die' ROM then the controls don't work - I can't start the game or add credits. I got the...
