Re: Is the sync script an SD-card hazard?
The constant sync'ing won't hurt the SD card since it's not really writing data to it each time it syncs. Syncing doesn't only protect against data loss during a power outage, but if you were to reset Mister, any unsaved data is lost. Now I could be wrong but for cores that allow game saves and what not, it helps make sure the data is written/flush...

Re: Oric-1 / Atmos Core
So I loaded Xenon 1 from Tap and began playing. Wierd thing is the cursor keys. Left moved left, but had to use down on the keyboard to move right. Is there a reason for that ? Yes, it was intentionally designed that way to annoy people. Just kidding. The games/software was designed that way due to how the keyboard is laid out. The Left and Down a...

You don't have to build anything, just find the mame rom file orica.zip and use one of the rom files inside that suits your needs.

Re: Oric-1 / Atmos Core
Unfortunately the ROMs are built-in. Given that there's a good bunch of them in different languages, making them loadable via the menu would be a plus. It would also avoid potential copyright issues with the current core. This is a build I made a few weeks back that allows the use of external bios/roms. The OSD menu was re-arranged a bit to try to...

Re: SSupport All BIOSes of Tandy 1000 (8088) Variations
That's an easy fix...at least for the SX bios. Some of the other bioses have other requirements that may not be implemented yet, such as larger BIOS rom space, NVRAM...etc. I am out of town at the moment so I don't have access to my test environment but I had it working. If you are interested in trying to compile it yourself to test in the mean tim...

Re: File Navigation
If your external drive contains a /games/Archie folder and your SD card doesn't, it will automatically default to the external hard drive for images (floppy/hd/rom...). There is no way, as far as I know, to navigate between SD and external devices from Mister's file navigation menu. If you are not seeing the files that are on your external drive, m...

Re: HDD Sleeping Disconnecting and Connecting Too Often!
From the looks of it, the commands you pasted into the terminal didn't do anything destructive. The script, is meant to continously randomly read from the hard drive in order to keep it spinning. Most likely you are experiencing the same issue I have with external non-powered hard drives that it's not getting enough power from the USB and it's spin...

Re: MiSTer IO Controller Problems - Wired or BT
Indeed the problem is concerning the power, I have used a self-powered usb hub to connect there the DualSense and that to the MISTer and it recognizes the DualSense. My AC adapter has 2A, should it be more? I didn't notice in the video how you connect it to Mister. Are you using an official usb board? I bought it the whole thing mounted and I assu...

Re: MiSTer IO Controller Problems - Wired or BT
Maybe the solution is to reset the configuration for the controllers and/or the usb ports? How could I do it? If you are not getting power to the controller upon connecting it, then mister doesn't see it. Hitting the PS button just causes it to try and connect via bluetooth. I didn't notice in the video how you connect it to Mister. Are you using ...

Re: MiSTer IO Controller Problems - Wired or BT
From the video you posted on reddit, the blinking blue light is an indication that it is trying to connect wireless-ly and is ignoring the usb connection. You mentioned that you don't have a problem on your Macbook...have you ever paired the controller to your Macbook via bluetooth? If so then maybe that's why it's connecting without a problem. You...

Re: Oric-1 / Atmos Core
If anybody is interested in trying out the new Tap loading core, you will find it attached. It should work with most TAP files but there may be a few out there that may not work. If you come across any of those, please let me know and I'll look into it. Also, there are programs that are split amongst multiple TA* files. Those need to be combined an...

The only webpage I could think of would be the TI-99/4A main repo.
It doesn't have a wiki page or anything fancy, but of course, if somebody is willing to write one up and submit it, I don't see why it can't be added.

Re: Atari ST Cartridge Port Working?
I have ultimate_ripper_1_2.stc and it is not recognised using the last ST core. I can't find any .BIN image cartridge files to test. A couple of notes to get Ultimate Ripper running... 1. TOS must be 1.04 or lower 2. If you just changed TOS version, detach the cartridge and do a Cold Boot. 3. Attach the Ultimate Ripper cart and a Floppy Image ***I...

Re: Colour Genie (EG2000) Computer Core Released
Glad you are enjoying the core @EeDee! First, when it comes to CAS, not all CAS files from different systems are the same. When a system records to tape, it takes the data it wants to record and encodes it bit by bit into an analog signal that can be recorded to tape. They also use special identifiers such as headers to identify things like beginni...

Not exactly sure. A quick look seemed that most, if not all of the tapes found in the TOSEC archive are in MAME. Of course mame used different names for their CAS files.

Re: Colour Genie (EG2000) Computer Core Released
For those who are going through the CAS files found in MAME, I extracted the information from the mame software list and created a simple text file cheat sheet. Not all programs/games on the tapes may work (ex printer-related programs) and the list is nothing special or formatted in a pretty way but should hopefully be readable and useful to some w...

Re: Colour Genie (EG2000) Computer Core Released
So there are three types of files saved on tape. Basic, which you load with CLOAD and then RUN them, System files (think of EXE/COM files) that you have to be in "SYSTEM" to load them and then they either auto execute or you start them with / and enter. The third is just plain ol data files that is not typically "loaded" but ins...

Re: Colour Genie (EG2000) Computer Core Released
It currently doesn't have joystick support. Unlike most other systems of that era, they didn't have dedicated Joystick ports but instead used the parallel port to attach two analog controllers, each with a keypad. Was there much software for it that supported joysticks? I just can't seem to find information on what games supported joysticks. Everyt...

Re: FDD Support Based on ao486 Implementation
When I was playing around with the previous FDD branch, one of things I came across on why Tandy was having issues is that the Tandy bios uses timers a lot during post, especially when it comes to identifying the FDC/FDD but there are times when it does try to write to i/o port 41, the lock_bus_control signal is high on the 8237 and that i/o write ...

Re: MiSTer Downloader Tool
Most of the cert errors that come up are caused by the clock being off.
If the Mister was just powered on or fairly recently connected to the internet, may want to wait till you get the date/time on the Mister Bar on the OSD before attempting to do an update. Of course make sure the date/time is fairly accurate and not days or years off.
