Yeah I have mine on an independent power bar and by the time I've flopped back down it's good to go

Re: N64 Core Possibility? (Update! Robert Is Working On This Core!)
The launch in Japan was bad over lost sales due to shortages but going over the DC's life and failure is meaningless. You're looking at the car crash at the bottom of the hill when it started at the top. The Dreamcast was done and doomed before it was launched. Years before, in fact. Sega needed to get its shit together in like, '92. Management nee...

Re: N64 Core Possibility? (Update! Robert Is Working On This Core!)
At least thanks to the cartridges, Nintendo didn't have to worry about the massive piracy that crippled the PSX (and Saturn) in some markets. Although some could argue that increased PSSX popularity, I still think it hurt games sales. Attach rate + total sales doesn't pan out on this one. The PSX destroyed the N64. Nintendo fucked around and found...

Re: Be careful when buying a new monitor
Likely just cross reference more detailed reviews once you can identify models that have the issue. Pixel peeping reviews should show the problem, they'll zoom in on layout. There's actually not that many different panel manufacturers, it might just be specific panels. IPS has been around long enough to be classified as retro itself, but it's actua...

System16's page warns the konami groupings are a bit fast and loose, the "TNMT based" page shows several different chips per entry.

Yeah you'll see errors like this with changing the sprite setting. My favorite is in Super Hang-On, a bunch of objects just clip through the ground. Looks really trippy in motion.

It was absolutely a big deal to me. The fact it sips power where my PC chomps through it, especially in the summer, is a big difference.caffeinekid wrote: ↑Thu Oct 28, 2021 12:07 am Thank you for saying this. I thought I was the only person who cared about the power consumption.
A lot of that is personal comfort but it does feel better to use some cool and efficient.

It's a shame the good explanation for why this doesn't seem like a good option got buried in having a normal one :/

Re: Share the most terrible retro gaming memory you have
The one that comes back to me, that haunts me, is for some insane reason I as an adult threw away a beautiful mitsubishi CRT monitor I'd saved up $700 as a teenager to buy. Washed dishes at min wage to save up for this beast. It was beautiful, it looked amazing, probably just needed minor repairs on the caps or something, I had it in storage... And...

Picked up a IO board, SDRAM, RTC and USB hub from LP
Everything seems to be working great, and the pack job on the parts was really solid, everything fully protected in a way I wish all my packages arrived. If I order the midi kit it'll be from LP

Been enjoying these. Especially like the choice of music now that I've figured out the song.
