Re: Tutorial: How to set up your MiSTer with a J-PAC/I-PAC
I simply used the JPAC software to make 1p start + up emit F12. Works nicely. In general I'm happy with keyboard mode except that 2p controls don't work in all cores for some reason. I never got the jamma_vid/pid feature in MiSTer to work so I'm stuck like this right now.

Re: Direct Video - do I need to mess around with jumpers on the IO board?
The 12V on SCART pin 8 and 3V on pin 16 are only needed for TVs with original SCART connectors, and they tell the video processor to switch inputs to RGB and to use 4:3 aspect ratio. They aren't needed on a SCART RGB modded American TV. In other words you should be fine. I'm not too sure about the HDMI to VGA dongle though, as it doesn't use the re...

Re: Have the USB issues been resolved?
I tried yet another powered USB hub, this time one of good brand and quality. My devices showed up fine, but after a "reboot" via ssh, neither my JPAC nor the wifi dongle would work anymore... Just dead. It's all very familiar. Seriously, the USB OTG port of the DE-10 isn't working as it should. It's getting difficult to blame all the dif...

Well, why not ignore _ when looking for matches? It seems far less likely that _ would be a useful prefix to distinguish.

Oops. I could have sworn I saw a difference (such as it not working) when I used the wrong setting.

Definitely try vsync_adjust=2 anyway, as it gives you the lowest display latency.

The console runs fine at 15kHz for me.

Re: MiSTer No Longer Mounting My USB Drive at Startup
Sounds suspiciously similar to the USB issues I have had with a hub that worked without issues for months. But then suddenly, recently, my USB devices remained unpowered after boot.

Re: Have the USB issues been resolved?
I see. I assume this is legit? https://ultimatemister.com/product/usb-hub-2-1-with-cables-and-bridgeboard/ Ya, that's a good one. Any "issues" you are reading about are likely due to cheap hubs from Chinese sellers, or just random issues people have when they mess with menu options. My own issues with USB hubs have been due to neither of...

Re: Have the USB issues been resolved?
So the official 2.1 USB hub works reliably? I thought I saw some posts from users that had issues with that as well.

Have the USB issues been resolved?
I have been reading threads about the USB hub/OTG host issues in recent months, but they all seem to peter out with no firm conclusion or resolution.
Is a stable USB setup possible right now using the latest MiSTer software? Assuming I have enough power supplied to the board, what is required to achieve reliable USB?

Re: Rotating an Vertical Arcade core on a CRT?
It's not going to look awesome, due to the maximum 240p resolution (horizontal in a vertical shooter). You'll get terrible aliasing artifacts. I'm in the same boat really, and have decided I will need to build another cabinet later...

Re: Cannot reliably define joystick buttons
Update: everything works very well with the j-pac in default ( keyboard ) mode. Both player sides on my control panel work fine. The cores that support MAME key bindings just work out of the box, and cores that don't support those bindings are easily configurable by mapping the sticks and buttons through the per-core OSD. The only customization I d...

Re: Cannot reliably define joystick buttons
I gave up and decided to use a j-pac instead. Will update this topic with how that goes. I think the joystick definition process could be greatly improved, especially in the case of using non-standard sticks. As it is, MiSTer is very centered around a "SNES-like" standard gamepad, and seems to default back to a standard mapping whenever t...

Cannot reliably define joystick buttons
I have a gutted Mayflash F101 as P1 and an Arduino/Daemonbite as P2 in my arcade cabinet. The whole thing is powered by a MeanWell 5V 10A supply, so I don't expect there to be any power issues. I have also measured 5V in-circuit (MiSTer on) to >= 5.0 volts. For the life of me, I cannot get MiSTer to reliably apply my button definitions. For P1, I c...
