PC-FX and PC98 cores are sorely missing in my opinion. I wouldn't mind a virtual boy with SBS 3D support either.

Re: New HDR Settings
Here are some additional pictures using HDR=3 with HLG HDR on a LG CX with Motion Pro (BFI) to medium and OLED light to 50 at 1440p, side by side with a Trinitron WEGA CRT For this to work using HLG HDR you need to make sure Dynamic Tone Mapping is on in your TV options (you are relying on your TV to make the color conversion from SDR to HDR for yo...

Re: Super Game Boy SNES core with MSU
I just rebuild the latest MiSTer Main commits (including the new video changes) along with SGB MSU Support, I thought I'd share. (the SGB core's rbf itself remains unchanged)

Re: Unlicensed Gameboy Game Support
Wouldn't it be much easier to just patch out the Nintendo logo check from the Game Boy BIOS?

Re: Super Game Boy SNES core with MSU
Did anyone actually get MSU working on here? Tried the same exact files that were working on the SD2SNES Pro and nothing is working. The regular Game Boy stuff works fine, but the MSU versions don't work at all. Even changed the MiSTer main as instructed I only managed to get Link's Awakening DX to work for some reason, anything else I've tried do...

Re: Super Game Boy SNES core with MSU
I compiled the MiSTer binaries and the SGB core so that they contain the latest commits from the MiSTer Main and the SNES (mostly SPC related fixes) core. I thought I'd just share these here.

Re: Genesis Core Ported to Terasic DE2-115
Nice project! How are you handling the ARM stuff? An external board, or a softcore on the FPGA? As for debugging, I can't speak for other devs, but I tend to simulate individual components using GHDL or Verilator, and debug complete cores with Signaltap. Currently my main goal is a Genesis core for DE2-115. I decided to cut off any ARM stuff and r...

Re: Better support for SNAC?
There is no input lag using generic USB gamepad. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ZTS04rVOn0 All these direct connections have no benefits. It only wastes GPIOs and requires 30-years old gamepad. Purists use original systems, not emulators, not FPGA. First of all, some people like playing with their original controllers, the experience just isn't ...

Re: Should "MiSTer" be ™`ed or ©`ed?
To be fair, I have no issues supporting hardware alternatives if it's quality. I would actually be hyped for a better integrated MiSTer board that could be used in portable devices. Having alternatives also means not relying on a single point of failure as far as supplies go.

Re: The Verge Published an Article on MiSTer
haven't paid the EDU prices on my DE-10 nano boards (I own 2), I am not a student so I did not feel like abusing the system/pricing. Some actual student with less money than I do actually need the discount, if people keep abusing these eventually those will no longer exist.

Re: VGA Output VS Direct Video for Analog Video
The Analog output on the IO board has some hardware issue which causes lower gain (and thus a dimmer picture), it is not that noticeable (other than on a direct compare) on a SD CRT, but it is very noticeable on a PC CRT or HD CRT. I opened an issue about this here: https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/Hardware_MiSTer/issues/11 Because of it I would rat...

Re: [MegaCD] Support for hybrid rom/cd images (Pier solar, MD+...)
Not only MiSTer. Original HW will also support it. according to terraonion, md+ and already md+ patched games already work with original hardware. megasd not required for it specifically It definitely wouldn't, MD+ uses a proprietary command interface as well as tweaks such as undocumented flags in cue files to induce loops and an improved bank sw...

Re: [MegaCD] Support for hybrid rom/cd images (Pier solar, MD+...)
While SNES had no CD and appearance of MSU1 had a reason, on Genesis MD+ is something completely unneeded. Genesis had official CD add-on and therefore cart should be adopted to standard CD API if CD audio (or additional content) is required. It would give guarantee that original HW could be used. MD+ was a definitely wrong and unneeded invention ...

Re: Analog output (Composite/svideo)
You would need to go RGBS to composite, there are converters for that. What you call VGA is RGBS (RGB over DB15), VGA has both horizontal and vertical syncs and starts at 31khz, if you were truly going VGA (which MiSTer also does support using the scandoubler) to composite, you would need to go through a downscaler. If you do go VGA at 480p (31khz)...

Re: Virtual Boy
Furrtek attempted this with the Virtual Tap. He ran into problems with the 3D effects of the VB being tuned for its hardware, and it did not work well on a TV several feet away. So it's technically doable, but whether or not http://furrtek.free.fr/virtualtap/ Can this work on a 3D TV ? Testing is ongoing for an Anaglyph mode. The effect might not ...

Re: Virtual Boy
One that just shows a single eye's display should be plausible. But getting the full 3D effect would be difficult to get right. Even the VirtualTap just opted to just do a 2D version and not try to make it compatible with 3DTVs. It's just a matter of finding someone who wants to put in the time to make it. Furrtek would seem like the most obvious ...

Re: [MegaCD] Support for hybrid rom/cd images (Pier solar, MD+...)
Realistically speaking, and perhaps I am wrong, but you probably don't have to merge the entire cores to get CDDA support on Genesis.
