Re: MiSTer not working with BVM CRT

I connected a DVD player with component video cables and I get a picture but it is squashed and duplicated across the left and right halves of the screen with a vertical black bar down the center. I'm surprised component from DVD isn't perfect out of the box because one of the inputs was set up for component (along with RGB and composite on other i...

Re: MiSTer not working with BVM CRT

The monitor came from a reliable source so it should be working. I'm not sure how else I could test it. I just tried the sync button with both black and gray connected to the sync socket but everything is the same except the screen is much lighter. I'm using the sockets along the right side of my photo. I'm guessing it's the HDMI converter or VGA c...

Re: MiSTer not working with BVM CRT

I can't think of another way to test the monitor. Is there a cable online (Amazon?) that's known to work?

I'm not sure what you mean about not using HDMI to VGA. The only video out on my MiSTer is HDMI.

Re: MiSTer not working with BVM CRT

Here is a photo of the screen. The line changes between red, green, and blue and kind of rolls quickly up the screen over and over. Whether the black, gray, or no cable is plugged into sync, this behavior is the same. Is there an HDMI-VGA converter that's known to work with this? Also when I turn on the TV sometimes instead of coming on the overloa...

Re: MiSTer not working with BVM CRT

Here is a photo of the BVM cards.

It sounds like I need to get either sync-on-green or composite sync working. Are there MiSTer settings I need to change or more cables to use?

MiSTer not working with BVM CRT

My MiSTer works great connected to a digital display and I'm trying to get it working on a refurbished BVM which is my only CRT. I'm using these cables to go from HDMI to RGB: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B075GZ8DX7 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000067SM6 I've changed to these in MiSTer.ini: direct_video=1 composite_sync=1 The CRT only displays a horizon...

Space and Enter Not Mapping Correctly

I got two 1-button keyboards to function as COIN1 and COIN2. One of them sends a Space keypress and the other sends an Enter keypress: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09CLBDYSS MiSTer lets me map COIN to the one that sends Space but pressing it after that doesn't add a credit. I've tried several cores. Any idea what could be in the way there? MiSTer doe...

Nice! Is there a way to pull this off with a standalone coin mech without soldering?

Checking in in case there are any updates. I'm thinking of using one of these for COIN:

Re: COIN Mapping Ideas?

Nice idea. You would replace one of the existing buttons on the controller? Need to solder it internally?

Re: COIN Mapping Ideas?

Wow! I'd love to see photos if you get a chance.

You mentioned a "cheap generic Coin Acceptor with a male USB cable". That coin acceptor comes with USB output? If so which one do you have?

Re: Where Do You Map P2 Start?

That feature will also be great for JAMMA COIN1 and COIN2 although I don't think I've run into a game that uses COIN2 yet.

Re: How to get sharp scanlines?

Thanks for posting your settings. I tried yours and tried using them as a starting point and fiddling around but it doesn't feel like I can get the same look I get with the OSSC in my JAMMA setup.

Does enabling video settings on MiSTer (as opposed to using the defaults) increase input lag? It sure feels like it to me.

Re: COIN Mapping Ideas?

Now that I think about it, you'd want to connect the extra COIN button/mech to USB on the MiSTer, not USB on the controller.

COIN Mapping Ideas?

I'm using the MAYFLASH F300 Elite arcade stick and it has a USB port so I'm wondering if anyone has come up with a way to add some kind of a coin button or even a real coin mech that way? I don't think any of the other buttons are right for COIN.

Where Do You Map P2 Start?

I'm using a pair of MAYFLASH F300 Elite arcade sticks and they have 1 start button each. R-Type Leo (for example) needs separate button mapping for P1 Start and P2 Start. Is there any way to map P1 Start to the start button on the first controller and P2 Start to the start button on the second controller?

How to get sharp scanlines?

I've tried some of the presets but they always soften/blur the image. Does anyone have nice sharp scanlines on the MiSTer?

Exactly, yes. I don't want to update constantly and would like to know when something I'll use becomes available.

What is the best way to monitor changes that would be pulled in by an update_all? Especially arcade cores/ROMs.

Can fast USB polling be slower?

Is the default fast USB polling on or off?

I set mine to on and it seemed either the same or slightly higher input lag. Can fast USB polling ever increase input lag?

Audio pulls to the right

I'm using optical out on the MiSTer and audio is a lot louder out of the right channel than the left which doesn't happen with other audio sources. Has anyone else noticed this?

"Missing" arcade cores

I ran update_all on my MiSTer and it pulled in an incredible collection of arcade games but I noticed some are "missing" such as Mushihimesama and Twin Hawk. Should those have been pulled in or just not available yet?
