Castlevania: Circle of the Moon is the random pick this week! Also: I may have to travel this week for a funeral. If I do, I will most likely just pull another random game from our list for the GBA and post that as a bonus round in place of a new random core. We have a great selection of games this time, and I was thinking of suggesting we do that ...

Re: CGC Round 6 core: Nintendo Game Boy Advance
I'll second Drill Dozer as that was on my list after going through a top 100 video. I've only played the Zelda games on an emulator from this handheld, so all games are new to me and I've not used the MiSTer core yet either. So others that looked interesting are... Mario vs Donkey Kong Wario Land 4 Castlevania: Circle of the Moon Like you I'd also...

Re: CGC Game 5: Riot City (Sega System 16) [Arcade]
Okay so I want to know who the geniuses are that design these games that have a score but then don't give you your final score when you beat the game! Both this one and Spriggan even get your intitials at the end without showing your final tally. And then the attract mode doesn't flash the high score either. That's the second time I've had this hap...

So it looks like there's 6 pyramids with 10 levels each. I keep dipping into this when I get a spare moment and am currently on the 4th level in the 2nd pyramid so far. Even though I'm not as far as you I also keep coming back. It's a great pick up and play! Solid game! I never had the time to play this over the last week, but I still will due to ...

Re: CGC Round 6 core: Nintendo Game Boy Advance
I nominate: Drill Dozer Gunstar Super Heroes TMNT The GBA had a ton of games that were ports from other systems. Lots of remakes too. I tried to choose some that would be good for quicker plays. Something like Metroid: Fusion might not be well suited to this club due to its long-form gameplay (meant for saving and multiple hours of playing). Then a...

CGC Round 6 core: Nintendo Game Boy Advance
This week's random core is the Nintendo Game Boy Advance! Nintendo-Game-Boy-Advance.jpg Core info Core review video I think this handheld needs no introduction. There are a huge number of fantastic games available for this system, so it's going to be difficult for me to come up with only three nominations! Please make your nominations (up to three)...

CGC Game 5: Riot City (Sega System 16) [Arcade]
Riot-City-Japan.jpeg Game info Gameplay video Released in 1991 in arcades (perhaps) before the late-1991 Streets of Rage for the Sega Mega Drive / Genesis, the two games clearly share DNA. I'm a big fan of the SoR series ( especially the new one out last year), and I'm excited to play this one as I haven't before somehow. Play however you'd like! ...

Well done! I don't know why I never used any continues but I managed to get to Stage 4 on one. I guess I just quit out after a good run :D But you've inspired me to try and beat it tonight :) Yeah input latency will kick your ass playing shmups. Unfortunately you lose your current score when you use a continue. Fortunately there's no limit on them...

Re: CGC Game 4: King's Valley 2 (MSX) [Computer]
Early thoughts. This is an interesting puzzle platformer that is also pretty hard. You sort of need to figure out the stage in your head before you start anything, or you might/will get stuck with no way to finish the level. If anyone knows what key you can use to restart a level - let me know. But it's really addictive. Even though I'm stuck on t...

Re: CGC Round 5 core: Sega System 16!
So many classics! I'll go with three I've never played before. - Bullet (shooting game) - Heavyweight Champ (well... boxing) - Time Scanner (pinball) I'm not seeing Heavyweight Champ as being available on the MiSTer (or at least update_all didn't fetch it for me). Does it work for you? My initial list in the OP was inaccurate. Jotego's wiki for th...

CGC Game 4: King's Valley 2 (MSX) [Computer]
King's Valley 2 (MSX).png Game info Gameplay video Core setup guide This week's game is King's Valley 2 for the MSX2! Re: CGC Game 3: Seirei Senshi Spriggan (TG16/PCE CD) [Console]
I beat the game! Annoyingly though it doesn't give you a chance to see your final score after Act 7 the way you can at the end of the rest of the Acts. I did notice that when I killed the final boss' last form, my score suddenly jumped to over one million! I didn't think to grab a picture because I assumed it would present you with the final score ...

Re: CGC Game 2: Grobda [Arcade]
I played this one for about ten minutes. It was okay, not my favourite game but worth giving a go. Shield would be nice! Only made it to the level six and that stronger baddie killed me. Looking forward to some non Tate games so I can play on my CRT which is not flipped. The MSX core is up next, and I can give it until this evening to do the game ...

Re: CGC Game 3: Seirei Senshi Spriggan (TG16/PCE CD) [Console]
Well, I gave it a good try, but Spriggan is way too fast for me. I was never good at bullet hell shooters even when I was young, and my reflexes are very poor now in comparison, so I die very quickly. There's just too much going on for me to track accurately. The graphics and sound are startlingly good, though. I'm much more impressed with the pre...

I say go for it. This sort of experience-sharing is cool and I like to see it. I'm currently playing TMNT Hyperstone Heist for a similar sort of thing in another community. I'm of a similar persuasion, but the truth is that's where the action is these days...Discord, Twitter, etc. In 2022 forums are a social media niche and MiSTer's community isn'...

Re: CGC Round 4 core: MSX!
Space Manbow - Looks like a reasonable shooter for a mid 8bit machine. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gcZJ64PgtgA I also like the look of King's Valley 2, so I'll second that. Aliens looks a bit clunky, but then a lot of games on this system do. I love Bosconian, played that in the arcades a lot back then. But I'd rather play it on another platfo...

I agree that using your powerups as bombs seems wasteful as they don't seem to be overpoweringly-strong bombs. This was a really solid game to nominate, and I'm glad it was the random pick!

Re: CGC Game 3: Seirei Senshi Spriggan (TG16/PCE CD) [Console]
I'd not set up my TG16 core, so it was a journey getting things working. I have a 1TB solid state external USB drive to put larger format games on. So I needed to copy the directory and bios across. I then found out that you had to press 'run' to get the CD image to load, so controller mapping was important. I've played it a couple of times, but m...

It's not just that the shield is missing, it looks like the turret should rotate too!! Do we know who built this core, it'd be good to get the extra controls implemented as this looks a really good Robotron type game. I'll second Inspecteur Z because I have no clue to what it is and you seem really excited about it :) And I'll nominate Aliens: Alien 2 because... Aliens. I'll second Aliens 2. I watched a few youtube videos and pulled out some games I'd like to play. Out of those, I will nominate the following: Metal Gear - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ehlAMTh...
