Re: 9.7" iPad Retina Screen Perfect for MiSTer, $60 Fully Assembled 😄

I've got one of these I bought a couple of years ago, I was messing with the aspect ratio in menu and now it just says "No support" and I can't do anything with it lol Anyone know if I can factory reset somehow? It won't let me into the menu. I've tried hooking up a PC and trying every resolution and it still just says "No support&qu...

Ordered one of these from Etsy. Shipping was a killer to Australia, but what do you do?

At least they shipped here :)

I've always wanted a lag tester.

Re: HDMI->VGA converter with 5V on pin 9

I have 6 HDMI to VGA adapters and the only one with 5v in pin 9 is a Tendak, but that one doesn't work with 480i at all on MiSTer. I was going to see if I can mod one of the other adapters to get the 5v, but not sure how. I have an automatic SCART switch that needs voltage on SCART pin 8, the Tendak is the only one I have that works with it, but I ...

Re: Sync Problem Rolling Picture Using direct_video Mode

My setup is a bit convoluted because I have a bunch of input and output devices, but it's: MiSTer DV -> UGREEN HDMI to VGA adapter -> Extron MVX VGA Switcher -> Extron RGB 203Rxi -> Extron MVX again -> RGB VGA to YPbPr Component transcoder -> consumer CRT TV I'm using that same ugreen adapter and it works the best out of the 4 HDMI to VGA adapters...

Re: 9.7" iPad Retina Screen Perfect for MiSTer, $60 Fully Assembled 😄

Just got one of these, the menu on mine is different to what I've seen posted above, it has icons. I really like it, it does 50Hz and looks great, sadly there's some distracting backlight bleed at the top which is really visible on black backgrounds. I guess you can't have everything :) I don't suppose anything can be done about it? I've been using...

Re: Sync Problem Rolling Picture Using direct_video Mode

I have issues with some 480i content, such as FMV in Tekken 3 and Gran Turismo 2, which doesn't sync at all This can be resolved by enabling 480i HDMi sync, but this makes other 480i content that works with the option disabled look worse. Also resolution switching like in Chrono Cross loses sync for a split second with the option disabled, but is a...

Yes. It's the only one I have. Well, apart from that old cable with all sorts of issues :)

Re: Direct Video Broken in Latest Update?

Oh, for sure. This probably does something like my UMSA, which alleviates the problem - to some extent at least, since you say other cores still don't work. Could you try without this adapter, just plain MiSTer - HDMI DAC - cable - TV? If you have a MiSTer VGA - SCART cable, of course? Some of them would say what chip they are based on in the prod...

Re: Direct Video Broken in Latest Update?

So yes, the DV in general is fixed...but now "my" broken cores (which were not working previously for me but then did after that 20220517 update), are broken again. Guess it's my turn to open a ticket...perhaps it could be sorted so both these things work. Interesting. Which cores do you have issues with. I still have issues with Atari 5...

Re: Direct Video Broken in Latest Update?

In some edge cases like mine, a few cores/video modes in cores (eg ST, Amstrad PCW) didn't work on DV. I figured out eventually it was down to the adapter, because it was the same behaviour with totally different cables and TV sets. Seems like the HDMI stuff in the update fixed these niggles, maybe made it more tolerant or something, while breakin...

Re: Direct Video Broken in Latest Update?

It's interesting, because it also seems to fix some cores which wouldn't sync on DV before (eg Atari ST). I will check it more in depth later on my consumer TVs. I was able to sync Atari ST before. Pretty much all 15Khz cores were perfect before the update. I didn't actually try any cores with the new update because I can't even see the menu :) I ...

Hmmm. I checked that one and it had the same hash as the one downloaded by update_all.

It must be sending out a signal that my CRT doesn't like as it just won't sync.

Re: File Allocation Table Keeps Getting Corrupted

So I booted from a Windows 98 floppy. Partitioned with FDISK, and formatted with FORMAT C: /S All seemed good, but then when I went to copy the eXoDOS collection I ran out of space because it used a cluster size of 32KB. 105GB used 120GB of space with a 32KB cluster size. Re: File Allocation Table Keeps Getting Corrupted

That seems okay. You only need the 10MB STUB if you are going to do the ASSIGN drive trick that I do in the Top 300 to get the D: drive to be a CD drive while having the C and E for boot and data. if you don't plan to do that and don't care what drive letter is the CD drive then you dont need that. ExoDOS expects the D: drive to be D:. You could a...

Re: File Allocation Table Keeps Getting Corrupted

It can't be over 134GB raw or it will corrupt. Back it off to like 119GB formatted and see if it does the same thing. I thought it might be something like that. I originally had a 128GB partition and when that got corrupted I dropped it down. Total size of the VHD is 121GB. There's a 10MB STUB partition and then a 121GB partition. So that's no goo...

Could you be using the wrong DOS kernel? Maybe? Do you still get corruption when you boot from the Win98 DOS image in the Top300, and use that to play the games you've loaded on your custom games image? edit: and just in case, have you tried wiping and re-downloading all the ROM files? They've changed numerous times over the last couple months. se...

Re: File Allocation Table Keeps Getting Corrupted

One thought that comes to mind: is the image on an SD card? They're famously unreliable, especially cheap ones. Check the host Linux dmesg to see if the kernel is complaining about I/O errors of any kind. It's on a USB HDD. I just created another VHD and loaded 120 GB of games onto it and the very first boot I'm getting "Sector not found"...
