Re: Amstrad CPC Plus / GX4000 Core?

Thanks! I have a real soft spot for the Amstrad machines and the Plus/GX4000 machines are actually very capable. There's a lot of homebrews appearing that make use of the enhanced features, there are even some enhanced oldskool titles that have been spruced up with the enhanced palette. The version of Sonic the Hedgehog in the works shows that the ...

Re: Amstrad CPC Plus / GX4000 Core?

I know this is an old thread but my 2 cents... Fundamentally, the ASIC in the GX4000 is an extended version of the 40007 or 40010 Gate Array ICs used in the Amstrad CPC. It integrates RAM bank switching, the Programmable Peripheral Interface, some disk access functions, keyboard scanning (50% as the rest is done by the sound chip), Cathode Ray Tube...

Re: OOOF! This is why I always test eBay purchases before use!

Saturn is definitely another core I want to use, I've not actually checked if my current 32mb is enough to be honest. I kinda just want my Saturn console to enjoy it's retirement in good health and get the reasonably authentic Saturn experience from the Mister! I'm also looking forward to some Atari Jaguar goodness without the need to keep the orig...

Re: OOOF! This is why I always test eBay purchases before use!

Ah! I searched high and low and couldn't find any info on this board! I did find one picture that helped with knowing which way round it needed to be installed if I had gotten that far. I had originally intended to solder a v2.9 board myself but spotted the XXS board on eBay and figured I'd save myself some soldering. The cost of the board was roug...

The seller has kindly offered me a refund so that's a relief!

Re: OOOF! This is why I always test eBay purchases before use!

I'd never seen it before but I think it was rickdangerous who informed me it was an old XXS module and that it wouldn't work with certain cores. It's the same RAM as current boards, so I thought I would test it out and make sure it worked first then probably reuse the ICs to make an up to date one. Obviously I needed to make sure it was working bef...

OOOF! This is why I always test eBay purchases before use!

So I bought a 128mb RAM module from eBay. It arrived today. I was informed in the New Comers forum it was pretty old but since it arrived today I thought I would check out how useful it was. Well it's old, but it seems worse than that. I checked the RAM ICs and dead short on 3v and Ground! Glad I checked before it went anywhere near my Mister! Unle...

Re: Question About This Memory Module

Ahhh dammit! Well I guess "Plan B" will have to be put into action and I will build one with the PCB I ordered. Actually technically it's plan "A". I'm pretty sure it uses the same ICs so I can probably use the ones from this board. Thanks for letting me know! EDIT: Does anyone happen to know why this won't work with these Cores...

Question About This Memory Module

Does anyone know how this board should be installed into the DE10 (image attached). I just hit the buy it now for it on eBay so haven't received it yet. There doesn't appear to be any indication on which way round it goes! Any help greatly appreciated, I can't find any images of a similar board installed. Apologies if I've somehow missed it. A foru...
