Re: ao486 Config for a Plain Old CRT TV
Just in case anyone else runs into this... I'm using PVMs, but want the old TV look, so I got a composite adapter and discovered that these video_modes which start with high numbers like 1440 etc produce weird colors via the adapter... IMG_3696.jpg So, I had to start over in the thread and try various configurations again, and this one seems to wo...

Re: General question regarding 50/60hz and composite adapters on CRT
Not to derail my own thread... but would it be possible to use a custom video mode to expand the image on a CRT and eliminate the borders? I've tried some games available on both the Atari ST and the Sega Megadrive and it's interesting to see that even though they both run 320x200/220, the images they display on my CRTs are very, very different in ...

Re: General question regarding 50/60hz and composite adapters on CRT
NTSC/PAL also refer to very distinct color encoding standards when it comes to composite video. Was it not also something called "line count", but that perhaps only has to do with broadcasting? Either way, thank you for the information and the examples! I will test them when I get a chance and experiment more (I grew up with PAL so it's ...

General question regarding 50/60hz and composite adapters on CRT
This is a fuzzy question and I'm getting old also forget technical details... but I distinctly remember PAL vs NTSC games on Atari 800 playing music at different speeds... but on the Atari ST the music speed stays the same when switching between 50/60hz... then again, my JVC display says NTSC either way and I'm using Antonio Villena's composite ada...

Re: Atari 8-Bit Computers
Just because these machines are 40+ years old, doesn't mean the UX have to be the same age. ;) (I'm a former interface designer, so inconsistencies is something I notice. First time a core has tripped me up this severely, and this was the machine I grew up with. There's other details like the Amstrad core not displaying which disk image is loaded, ...

Re: Best Solution for Composite Signal?
This one for instance. https://www.axunworks.com/RGB-to-Composite-S-Video-p341706.html Yep, heard about it which is why I put it in the wiki, but I'm not 100% sure it actually delivers artifact free composite image on MiSTer, for the aforementioned reasons. Has anyone actually tested this? If it doesn't produce swimming pixels, I'd be quite intere...

Re: Atari 8-Bit Computers
My fault. I loaded the .ATR and I forget press F10. sorry . all works like a charm now. Have a look here : https://misterfpga.org/viewtopic.php?t=88 . I am not in front of MiSTer to confirm it unfortunately, but hope it helps Atari 800: files ATR, ATX, and CAR ATR file- 1) load ATR from OSD 2) hit F10 to reset and load game So this tripped me up a...

Re: IO Board VGA 5v Jumper
There's a (slim) potential to damage older devices that pre-date the +5v pin. Better to not have it when not needed. So if you have PVMs from 2005-2007, you should be safe to leave it on? I'd like to be able to switch between composite and component without having to remove the 6-screws required to get into my case every time... Just to note, I bo...

Re: Eye of the Beholder (C64 and C128) Quick Look on MiSTer
when I try to load it says it can't find a save Forgot to update here, so just in case anyone else runs into this... after I got some help on Discord, I discovered that "system rom" was set to something called "loadable c64"... setting it to "standard c64" enabled me to write to disk properly and made everything work!...

Re: Eye of the Beholder (C64 and C128) Quick Look on MiSTer
Looks great! When I try to "flash save" and load again it just loads the beginning of the level (1) so it doesn't seems to work. Does anyone know what I need to do in the settings so it works? Check the Notes: https://eotb64.com/notes/ : the C64 core does not support Easyflash saves, separate d64-Image for game saves is required Have you...

How to Mount VHD Over Network From MiSTer to PC?
I have a 20gb VHD for AO486 on the Mister's internal SD card, which isn't that easy to physically access in my build. The only remote way I have to access it is via WinSCP, but I don't want to transfer 20gb back and forth every time I want to make a change. Does Mister support Samba or something which could enable me to remotely access the SD card ...

Re: Show Us Your MiSTers
That's really cool! Where did you get the case? I see it here but not shipping until May next year: https://myretrocomputer.com/ I got one of the last "Made in the UK" ones from their previous batch, which was important to me (I like to support local manufacturing). The tooling has now been shipped to China where the new cases will come ...

Here is my MiSTer build. My Retro Computer MyVic20 Mini-ITX Case This inspired me to do the same (though honestly, not that much of a choice out there if you want an integrated keyboard in your build)... Mastodon Support in Profile
Since Twitter is... well, frankly regardless of what's happening there, Mastodon is gaining in popularity.
How about adding support for it in the profile pages on this forum?
(I've already put mine under "website", which seems to work, but still...)

Joystick Mouse Emulation Toggle?
I'm guessing not that many people have a mouse and keyboard connected to their Mister. Perhaps those with a very minimal setup would still want to use computer cores? Keyboard emulation on a joystick is perhaps a bit tougher (on-screen keyboard will probably take a lot of effort), but mouse emulation sounds easier... I'm proposing a button that swa...

Thank you!

This is most likely a very ignorant question, but could future Mister Analog IO boards have this "luma trap" thing built in, so you don't have to use a dongle?

Re: Atari ST core simply refuses to start (no OSD)
Thank you! I had used the Update All script before, which apparently didn't get the TOS images for this core. Fixed now. (Also, small note, I haven't used a real Atari ST in three decades, but I don't remember it taking 20 seconds to display a desktop... wasn't the whole point of TOS that it took something like 2 seconds to get to the desktop?) :) ...

Atari ST core simply refuses to start (no OSD)
Has this happened to anyone else? I tried the latest and the second latest releases, exactly the same: Screen goes dark/garbled and the OSD button stops working so the only thing to do is Reset. Also, no, deleting the config as in this thread doesn't work because I don't have a config for that core. Arcade cores work well, console cores work well.....

Re: Pacman Junior Core
Or pacland - love to see Namcos classic scroller on mister As someone pointed out on Reddit, there’s an excellent (arcade perfect?) version in the Namco Museum vol. 4 on PlayStation. Yeah, but it'd be nice nonetheless, since doing this core would also mean getting Dragon Buster, Metro Cross and Baraduke as well. Sad to see this is the single menti...
