Re: Current Method for ROM Hacks

I guess it boils down to copying the MRA of the original to the clone, replacing the <rom> lines with suitable values, and placing the ROMs in the _Arcade/mame/ folder. I have not used hbmame so I don't know how that works. Thanks. I will try this. (1) Make a duplicate of the relevant existing/working MRA; (2) Edit the <rom> lines appropriately; a...

Current Method for ROM Hacks

New to MiSTer and have set up using update-all. I'm trying to figure out how to apply alternate-version rom hacks, but the examples I find are either no longer present, or describe outdated setups. To install, for example, speed-up Ms. Pacman or Pac-mortem Ms. Pacman or anything similar, what is the current method please? - Is there a repository fo...

Re: Colecovision Keypad Keys?

Do you have a Colecovision controller to test with? I'm assuming it will work since the Jag controller worked. Because I don't own a Jaguar controller, not the console. I wonder if this one would work? http://2600-daptor.com/Vision-daptor.htm Yes, I have the Vison daptor and it worked with my Coleco controller on the MiSTer. The 2600 D9 su...

Re: How to Map Coleco Controller Buttons

Thanks. Good questions. I don't have a windows PC to test on, but for each of the adaptors I've tried, from their marketing info: - The icode one says: "Supports single button and dual button Atari joysticks" (No mention of colecovision joysticks, but...) - The 2600-daptor says: "Colecovision" support. To me, that implies at lea...

How to Map Coleco Controller Buttons

So... new MiSTer user. I've got my Colecovision roms loaded up and ready to go, and I purchased a couple vintage Colecovision controllers to go with them. (The experience just isn't fully authentic without those old ridiculous things...) I wasn't sure how to connect them, so bought both of the following adapters. - 2600-daptor http://www.2600-dapto...

Re: Settings to Help Mimic ‘4-Way’ Joystick?

Thanks. I'm ordering a restrictor gate... that will be helpful. (I am not sure if it has a square gate or not.)

But I really am convinced I saw a hack/script/setting (unsure) for a software solution to help with the problem until the restrictor comes. I just can't find it.

Settings to Help Mimic ‘4-Way’ Joystick?

I'm setting up my MiSTer (finally!) and I'm starting to appreciate the significance of things I've read over the past few months. Today's challenge: I read about how important getting a 4-way restrictor was for games like Pac-man and Donkey Kong, but I didn't fully appreciate it. Now I do: the arcade stick I bought from amazon isn't great overall, ...

Fantasy (Vanguard SNK 6502) Core?

New to MiSTer and wondering if there is a core for the game Fantasy, (based off the same "SNK 6502" board that the more popular Vanguard was). Honestly, it doesn't look like there is, so I guess my real question is: Is there some place to request specific cores? Or even commission/incentivize them, (i.e., offer some inadequate amount of m...
