Re: How to deal with things like keyboards?

I've tried using ZX Spectrum stickers on a wireless keyboard, but I don't like how they feel after a while. Still, if you want to try that you can find files to print here: http://zxuno.speccy.org/descarga_e.shtml The alternative is to have a good quality image of an original keyboard to refer to, usually things are mapped to the same location so i...

Re: CoCo 3 core updates? Docs? Anything?

Not sure, why you write beta in quotes. It sound like the developers that post beta versions for their subscribers only are doing something shady and that these versions aren't real beta versions. You're reading too much into the quotes. I meant those beta builds are, effectively, behind a paywall. There are also some closed source cores (like the...

There's a few devs that only make their cores available to their Patreon subscribers, or (more commonly) that post "beta" versions for Patreons before eventually releasing the core to everybody.

Yes, and also I believe the boot rom mechanism bypasses some of the normal loading procedures. It was discussed in a thread but I can't remember which one.

Just buy based on what exists today and whether it is good for your purposes. If in one or two years a new expansion board comes out with something you want, then you can always upgrade at that point, it's just one module to replace.

It will rule out any setup problem that he may have. If the HDMI is working, then I'd expect the VGA to work as well.
With some equipment (capture card, upscaler, etc) it's possible to check what is coming through as VGA signal but not sure JamesfromDFW has any of those.

I used to run Unsaturated (I had hardcoded it in the MiST core back in the day), but nowadays I like the Sony palette better. I find that some games work betters with some palettes, though. A brighter palette goes better with "cutesy" games whereas more action / "serious" games need a darker and more NTSC-like palette to look go...

It's not a game yet, though. If it was a finished game you could submit it to retrobrews on github.

It's a great achievement but there were commercial games for GBA that were even more impressive, eg. https://youtu.be/Y6QtoZcYhi4

Re: Screen Mirroring

There is no such option, I don't think that's a common problem. What cabinet is it out of curiosity? It would require having a framebuffer that can cache the image and display it in reverse, so it would add lag. I don't think even the OSSC or XRGB-Mini (dedicated upscalers) have that capability, but I could be wrong. Edit: there is a commercial dev...

Re: Getting a Mister for an original CRT + Jamma arcade cabinet

Actually you don't want the JammASD... I just looked more into it, and it turns out that it's PS/2 only... so you need a USB converter. Those converters are the culprits for the lag. Here's a thread that discusses it: https://forum.arcadeotaku.com/viewtopic.php?t=11135

J-Pac is native USB, so looks like a much better choice.

Once connected the pc will see it as a keyboard and all the arcade joystick and button pressings will go trough as keystrokes ... and thinking about input lag, There is no way to know that unless somebody tests JammASD with the lag measuring tools. If lag is a major concern and you don't want to risk it, then you are better off using one of the of...

That "no output reports found" suggest it's using non-standard USB messages, so it may need a driver.
You can try connecting a different USB controller to compare the messages you get with a recognized one.

Yep, that works with the Samba access, albeit my setup of Samba has been flaky for some reason (I sometimes can't see the MiSTer on the network). Another way to transfer files is to copy files under /media/fat/games/ao486/shared/ and then use MISTERFS.EXE to see it from within the core. That method is only good for copying files in DOS though... me...
