Re: Spinner games list?

If you'd like some more variety, don't forget there are spinner-compatible games for the Atari and Apple II cores :)

Re: Why are CPS1, CPS1.5, JOTEGO & CPS2 missing from the Wiki?

You don't even need to edit the wiki if you at least post what didn't work for you or ask for help about it.

Just complaining doesn't help anybody.

If I'm not mistaken, if you autoboot into an arcade core then when you switch cores the file selection will already be inside the _Arcade menu.

Good point, I could accomplish the same backup operation if I put the floppy images in the /saves/ folder, so they get synced with the base script  Proper write support would be great to have, this core is almost perfect as is except for it. The only other features I could think of are mous...

Re: Apple II Core

I forgot who mentioned this first, but one idea that I thought was interesting is to treat disks like console SRAM, and the floppy disk like a read-only ROM image. That means the MiSTer would dump .sav files with the disk contents, that gets reloaded when loading a .dsk/.nib. It's a bit of a stretch...

I prefer that one core releases well before the other, so we have time to (re)explore the libraries  I don't mind which one comes first, both will be loved.

It is definitely possible, it has been done for the ULA chip for Spectrums, e.g.:

As long the FPGA implementation of the component is pin compatible and cycle accurare, it would work.

Re: IBM PCJr Core

There is room for a "early DOS PC" kind of core with settings for (say) CGA / Hercules, and a lower pixel clock. The main purpose would be to play all those early games that might go too fast on ao486. That said, I expect many of those games might already work with one of the DOS slowdown TSR utilit...

Yes, absoulutely. The above was to replicate a setup from some TG16-style modern gamepads where the top row is basically Turbo A and B, and the bottom row is just regular A and B buttons.

Re: MiSTer Multisystem - all-in-one system

I'd be fine with the option to use optical media as a USB read-only drive. Allow the user to choose CD, DVD or Bluray, and you could switch cores/game collections by swapping disks. Then just store your disks in a case from original systens and you'd perfectly emulate the feeling of using original p...

Re: Recommendations for a Competition Pro style joystick for MiSTer

If you want to go the budget route, you can get a Xinmotek USB adapter on AliExpress and a cheap enclosure. These usually come with 6 button holes but you can buy caps to install instead of a button. I put sanwa sticks and buttons in mine and it works well as a 2 button controller (and separate, sma...

This was discussed a while ago, though I can't remember if it was in this forum or the old atari-forum. In any case, the key question is which fantasy console / framework is worth porting over. Some of this was discussed with Sorg a while ago over at the old Atari forums: https://www.atari-forum.com...

Just get a Switch if you will go for a new console. Plenty of multiplayer family games on it.

I can recommend Goof Troop for SNES (2 player), or Gauntlet 2 (NES or Arcade) for 4 players.
