Re: OpenBOR for MiSTer

Man, i could pull my hair out. All of the sudden this overlapping letters, like i posted here, is back. I didn't change anything. Just started the Mister new. Had to delete everything configured before in the CRT and HDMI folders. LINK edit: Yeah, i can reproduce it now 100%. Just soft rebooting the Mister doesn't do any harm. But every new cold bo...

Re: OpenBOR for MiSTer

Mmh, just tried Golden Axe Remake 480x272 Remake. The Retrotink 4k doesn't switch to this resolution with the HDMI script. It's still a viewport inside 1920x1080p. Look at the shots. Vertical/Horizontal Factor. Ingame under "Screen" you can only select 2x = 960x554, higher crashes the engine. But still, the Tink doesn't show the proper re...

Re: OpenBOR for MiSTer

One note: HDMI script uses native 1920x1080p resolution with a viewport of e.g. 480x272 for the game within. This means you can't setup properly aligned CRT filter (scanlines and mask) via a hardware scaler like my Retrotink 4K. If you have this combination (or a different hardware scaler) you have to use the CRT script and 240p game versions. edit...

Re: OpenBOR for MiSTer

I seems to work. But the controller configs aren't saved in the "HDMI" and "CRT" folders. You have to reconfigure every time you start a game. Actually no logs either.

Re: OpenBOR for MiSTer

Two binaries? I have only one in media/fat/OpenBor. Huh? Just had a look at the current the build number. It's 3.1 Build 3009 Apr 28 2024. How did that happen? I guess i stay with the CRT script (disabling the ingame scaling fixed it). I can scale it to 4K fullscreen via Retrotink perfectly fine. :) Noticed something strange: When i start t...

Re: OpenBOR for MiSTer

Ok, the HDMI script seems to work. But the frontend is then very tiny on my 4k TV. In the game -> video settings i can select 2x = 640x480 which is way too small on a 4K TV, but it works in full speed. I can scale it though via Retrotink 4k. When i select 4x (the maximum) = 1280x960 the game is lagging as hell, everything is delayed (controls too)....

Re: OpenBOR for MiSTer

No problem. The old way works with one pad plugged.

For the HDMI script: Sounds like a plan. Looking forward to test your new script then.

Re: OpenBOR for MiSTer

And they crash after a few seconds back to the Mister menu. This even happens with only one pad plugged (the one with the default control mappings), 2-Player automatically and then a crash after a few seconds playing ingame.

Re: OpenBOR for MiSTer

Ah, ok. Starting and configure works now with all pads plugged. But games that support 2-player automatically selects the 2Player mode. Very strange.

Re: OpenBOR for MiSTer

The new version is actually worse.

With all my pads plugged in the button A is registered as "down" in the Frontend Gui. And if i unplug all but one pad none of the buttons work (direction seems fine.)

I've deleted all previous configs in the "Saves" folder.

Re: OpenBOR for MiSTer

No stress. If you find some time you could check it. For now i'll try some of your linked games. Generally for game pads: I think OpenBor is confused by similar designed pads. I have different controllers from 8bitdo like the M30, Pro/Pro2/ Neo Geo etc (mostly Xbox 360 controller classes). OpenBor loads fine with all plugged in. But the controller ...

Re: OpenBOR for MiSTer

Must be a SD card space issue, right?

Any other hint why i can't load OpenBor via external SSD? I doesn't seem to be a case sensitive matter. I've copied the whole OperBOR folder to the SSD, changed the path to SSD and then started via OpenBor.sh script from SD card.

Re: OpenBOR for MiSTer

Just tried Crisis Evil RE 2. But the game quits to MiSTer menu shortly after the loading screen. Is this a space/ game unpacking issue? I have only 770MB left on my SD card (external SSD load won't work somehow).

Re: OpenBOR for MiSTer

This doesn't help i'm afraid. Still waiting on the "Setting Video Mode.. Press any key to continue" screen, and then it quits back to the MiSTer start menu.
Will check later if i didn't something wrong.

The file system is Exfat.

Thanks for the suggestion. Will try it later.

Another question: What is the correct path if i want to start OpenBor from my external SSD, which is Device usb0? Is this possible? It doesnt start (no error).

OPENBOR_HOME_DIR="/media/usb0/OpenBOR"

Re: OpenBOR for MiSTer

No, i didn't change anything at all. But i'm fine with the video output. The 4K Tink takes it as 1920x1080p as default input. But you can correct the aspect, set the prescale to 4x and trim top/bottom. Then you get a 1280x240 output. Which looks perfectly fine on my OLED. The CRT filter+mask is properly aligned. As you can see here: Open-BOR-Mister...

Re: OpenBOR for MiSTer

Will try a real CRT later. But it looks nice on a big OLED too, with CRT filter enabled (and vertical prescale for the proper look).

edit: Argh, you can't enlarge the attached picture to original size for viewing. Shame, looks great live on the TV.

Re: OpenBOR for MiSTer

I've unpacked your folder, copied "A Tale of Vengeance" to the paks folder and i could see errors for a split seconds at the start, it's loads a bit further to a picture (dont' know if it's from the game or something) with a "ALEXDCZZ" font. Then the MiSTer freezes, have to press reset. Here's the log file, but it doesn't show a...
