BBC core *SAVE / *LOAD commands not working? - SOLVED

Do the *SAVE and *LOAD commands not work properly on the BBC core? I was just experimenting and I can't get them to work at all. If for example I try: *SAVE "TEST" 19968 22528 ...that works. I get a file. If I then try and load it using either: *LOAD "TEST" *LOAD "TEST" 19968 ...neither work. The system just hangs. I t...

BBC Master - Memory question

I've been using the Model B setting of the Beeb core for a few weeks now which I'm fine with as I used to have a Model B when I was a kid. I never owned a Master and I'm having a look round in the Master Shadow RAM setting but I'm confused. According to the user guide pt2, every mode should give a HIMEM value of &8000 in Shadow mode, but I'm ge...

Re: Open Source release of MiSTer Multisystem Console hardware all-in-one I/O design

we have added some useful components onto the web-shop including the main PCB (super high quality RoHS - lead free), vertical HDMI connectors for the bridge and the tall 13.5mm 40 way female connectors for the DE10-nano. Thanks. Now if you could just go back in time a couple of months to when I was scouring the Earth looking for those vertical HDM...

Re: No video when dvi_mode=0

I don't think I'm going to get very far with this. Tech support have been less than helpful, mainly because their English is very limited. Either that or they're just lazy. I did get another switch exactly the same (great thing about Amazon, you can just send everything back), plugged it in via the firmware update port first to see if it installed ...

Re: KVM Swtiches

I have a "tesmart" 8x hdmi kvm switch, connected to several things including my mister, and it works fine as it should. After it i have an hdmi extractor to get toslink audio, then an hdmi to vga dac, and everything work as it should. Even the emulated keyboard / mouse is working fine. I suspect the optical output of my KVM switch may be...

I have a USB3 switch... i.e. it does not have viseo. But it works fine. I use a separate switch for VGA in reverse (i.e. single source from MiSter into either a monitor or a capture card)

I also had a USB 3 switch that worked fine, but it's when I moved up to a KVM switch with audio that I had all these problems.

Re: No video when dvi_mode=0

Is the audio source in sound/volume settings on your PC definitely set correctly? If so, it must be that KVM. Yes and no, and I think this is where the problem lies with my 'current' switch. I have 2 audio devices listed in Device Manager (or the Realtek Audio Manager), but they're both digital outs. If I look on the Realtek Manager my only highli...

KVM Swtiches

Can anyone explain why KVM switches and the MiSTer don't seem to work well together? Or recommend one that does actually work properly with a MiSTer system? I posted a question in the Newcomers section about my MiSTer (it's part of a MiSTer Multisystem setup) not playing sound if connected through a KVM switch via HDMI, or not displaying video if I...

Re: Ghosts 'n Goblins...gone?

Do you have Arcade Organizer enabled? If so that may have moved things around. I do, but it was enabled both times when I ran the update script. It's odd as I checked the _Arcade folder just before I ran the update script the 2nd time and the GnG .rma file was definitely not there, then after I ran the script again, it was back. But the completion...

Ghosts 'n Goblins...gone?

Has it gone from the main arcade cores folder? I ran a MiSTer update today and now I can't see it. I can find it under the alternatives folder, but not the main list. I could have sworn it was on the main list...or had my memory failed me?

Re: No video when dvi_mode=0

Well, I jiggled my HDMI cable about a bit and noticed I was getting red spots on the screen so I thought definitely a problem with the HDMI connector. So I de-soldered it then re-soldered it, but no change. Then I disconnected the HDMI bridge between the Multsystem and the DE-10 and directly connected the DE-10 HDMI output to the KVM switch and sti...

Same...still no HDMI picture and no sound.

I ran an update on the MiSTer as well just in case but still no joy. I'm struggling to think it could be anything other than a fault with my HDMI connector, but I really don't get why I get no HDMI picture just by setting dvi_mode=0.

No video when dvi_mode=0

I built a MiSTer Multisystem recently and after a few initial problems everything seemed to be working ok. I had the MMS and my PC connected to the same monitor, PC via DVI and MMS through VGA. So no problems, I just switched between the 2 inputs direct from my monitor and had a really, really cheap 2 device KVM switch managing the keyboard and mou...

Re: Open Source release of MiSTer Multisystem Console hardware all-in-one I/O design

Hate to tell you you are not running the memory testd in that screenshot. All that tells you is that 128 mb is there. the yellow 0000 at the top left show its run for 0 time. No, that tells you that the test has been running for less than 1 minute. The yellow time counter is minutes. The passed cycle counter you can see is up to F, so it's on the ...

I think that's done! :D Multisystem - Finished!.JPG I swapped out U1 for the correct (inverting) version, and my yellow and green LEDs for 2 that had 35 degree viewing angles and luminosities of 560mcd and 220mcd respectively. You'd think the 560mcd would be insanely bright by comparison but it's not. In fact at first I thought I still couldn't see...

@emilion and @leew Had to ask... would you guys do it again knowing what you know now? Are you happy with the end result? Would you take another route (like Retro Castle IO or standard MiSTer Tower of Power? Yep, that's all installed now. Just used an adapter and plugged it into one of the Multisystem USB ports then ran the MT32 installer script. The Multisystem seems to be seeing the expansion cartridge just fine now.

Cheers.

Multisystem MT32-Pi Expansion Cartridge

I finally got my Pi Zero 2 W a few days ago and today soldered it onto the MT32-Pi expansion cartridge PCB, put the cartridge together and plugged it in to my Multisystem. I'm not getting any further than that though so I have a couple of questions. 1) Is the cartridge screen supposed to come on at all when the Multisystem starts up? Mine is blank....

Could possibly be an sdram controller issue or some marginal timing problems.

Ah, in that case it might be because I currently can only see half of my SDRAM. I recently built a MiSTer Multisystem and on the SDRAM board I have an incorrect non-inverter IC. When I get the replacement then that might fix it.

Thanks.

Re: the green LED. Check the current through the LED by measuring the voltage drop across the associated current-limiting resistor (e.g. pins 3 & 6 on N2) and calculate the current through the LED from VoltageDrop/56Ohms. Then see how that current compares to the spec value from the datasheet. And note that green may take more current than red...
