Re: names.txt - Proper System Names in OSD
I do think it would be good to have the Acorn computers named "Acorn Atom" and "Acorn Electron" in the menu so they are grouped together. That is the goal of the manufacturer variants. I use names_CHAR28_Manufacturer_EU.txt with datetime OFF myself and if you want cores grouped together then this is the way to go :) There is al...

Re: names.txt - Proper System Names in OSD
A few more suggested updates to the names.txt Thank you, Moondandy. The Acorn Electron rbf is still named AcornElectron in the repository at https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/AcornElectron_MiSTer/tree/master/releases Is this an alternate core? Same for Sord M5, Tatung Einstein and Dragon 32, I can gladly add them, but a link to the repos you may be ...

Re: names.txt - Proper System Names in OSD
Hiya, I was trying to figure out why my ZX81 went away and the search led me here. I thought I'd offer my thoughts on the rename for what they're worth (probably not much). The input is always appreciated, I can't know it all and heavily rely on people from the different regions to help with the naming. I was living in the US at the time and the Z...

Re: names.txt - Proper System Names in OSD
For US regions the Sinclair ZX81 is now renamed to Timex Sinclair TS-1500 (because of the 16kb version). In the US a joint venture between Timex Corporation and Sinclair Research sold the ZX81 as TS-1000 (2kb Version, which this core cannot be set to) and TS-1500 (16kb version with slight bug fixes). This should prove more accurate for US version o...

Re: names.txt - Proper System Names in OSD
Recently I learned that the Sinclair ZX81 was named Timex TS-1000 in the US (see https://www.zock.com/8-Bit/D_ZX81.HTML and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Timex_Sinclair_1000). There were slight differences in RAM amount (2KB RAM instead of 1KB). Would renaming the ZX81 for the US region make sense? The ZX81 core seems to support 1KB, 16KB, 32KB and...

Re: Horizontal tearing running from bottom to top at 50Hz with core 20220105
What video_mode do you use? And on what kind of display? might want to finish few NTSC games while the core is cooking  In general I use vsync_adjust=2 on all my screens and on my Samsung 4k TV that shows the rolling tear I use the standard video_mode=8 (for NTSC) and 9 (for PAL). No core so far has caused me trouble on my TV, no tearing ... ...

I encountered this issue with the latest version of this core, anybody else experiencing this when the region is set to EU?

Re: Scanline filters not working after latest update
I get things moving forward, but it just really sucks to update and then find things that used to work fine suddenly no longer work. There's, like, zero consideration for the user experience of using the MiSTer. This shouldn't have rolled out until all the other parts were ready. I understand your frustration. I am currently trying to figure out h...

Re: names.txt - Proper System Names in OSD
@Moondandy, @rhester72, thanks for pointing these out, it should all be added and fixed now. I am currently waiting for the names-files to be generated, github actions is degraded at the moment and does not run immediately. Re: USB Hub Broken After Last Update
@lamarax, it would be surprising if you would need to run the official update script specifically, because update_all runs exactly that among other scripts. @John, I had the same issue, because of the latest update. See this thread: https://misterfpga.org/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=3177 Because linux is not updated, but the MiSTer binary is, you need...

Re: names.txt - Proper System Names in OSD
@Moondandy: All done, theypsilon adapted the generator scripts to build 28 character long common name variants from the new csv file and 13 different names.txt files are now online on Github. They can be pulled via update_all, too. The cores you pointed out are included and you are mentioned in the commit message, as promised. As always, errors or ...

Re: names.txt - Proper System Names in OSD
Thanks, Moondandy. I added all those and will attribute you in the commit message.
The master file is done. Now I need to test its script output before pushing it to github. The scripts that theypsilon so kindly made will generate 13 different names.txt files from it that I want to check first.

Re: names.txt - Proper System Names in OSD
The 3D names may be an issue, but for now I will add them to the list with "3D" appended to the core name. It will be easy to change once they get a distinct name and in the meantime you can append the 3D manually.

Re: names.txt - Proper System Names in OSD
For sure, thanks a lot, Moondandy . I will add them all. Currently I am working on adding more columns to the CSV as well, to generate the so far missing common-names variants. That is a bit of work and I will do all that as soon as I get to it. These cores will be included then, too.

Re: Issue when setting up a device
When defining a new controller with "Define Joystick Buttons", simply press any button for "DPAD Test: Press RIGHT" and then press F12 ("User"). This unmaps the button you just pressed for "right press" again, but it will still remember the controller ID. Now you can skip any directional inputs and map the bu...

The issues you are experiencing could be due to a faulty USB-board or bad power connection, but the official USB-Hub-Board is simply not well designed. Re: Composite Blend on Genesis core on all console cores?
Of those examples on that page, only genesis appears to require it. SNES high res mode of course is already handled by the core, and DKC that example looks simply awful compared to the clear one, and I see nothing there that is improved by applying composite. For DKC using a soft scanline filter is a much better option. Well, "better", &...

Can you find me an example on NES where it look notably incorrect without being composite? 2600 and Turbografx also if you have time. SNES is high colors so its not going to be needing this. I tested those filters. Sadly they do not achieve a composite blend effect: viewtopic.php?f=22&t=196&p=25475#p25475FoxbatStargazer wrote: ↑Sat May 08, 2021 2:30 am I do notice some composite blend filters now, think they are under the comp folder or something (maybe inside misc?)
