Re: Old-school music production with MT-32pi and Cubase

edit

All is revealed: https://github.com/dwhinham/mt32-pi/wiki/MiSTer-FPGA

So it doesnt use the user as the MIDI port. I guess if USB MIDI performs to your expectations, using for a dedicated MT-32 makes way more sense

Re: Old-school music production with MT-32pi and Cubase

I would assume you would want keyboard -> Atari MIDI in-> cubase -> atari MIDI OUT -> MT32pi but Im not familiar with the MT32pi so YMMV

anywway: Here's what Im using. Atari MIDI IN, THRU, ATARI MIDI OUT x 3

Re: Old-school music production with MT-32pi and Cubase

You are much better off using the MIDI in/out right off the digital shield (the USER I/O thin that looks like a USB port) Hi, thanks for answering. The user port is occupied by the MT-32pi, and functions as a MIDI out. All I want the MIDI In for is to connect my keyboard so that I can record notes into Cubase. If this is technically possible, I do...

Re: Lets Make Some New MIDI Hardware

Behold! MIDI out -> 16x MIDI outs 1 PSIMIDI MIDI In 1 MIDI Thru The way it works: MiSTer MIDI out is just Multed and level shifted to the outputs via Hex Schmitt−Trigger Board 1: MIDI IN, USB C socket -> MiSTer user port, MIDI Thru, 3x MIDI outs Board 2: Adds 5x MIDI outs Board 3: Adds 8x MIDI outs So you can mix and match accordingly Files here: h...

Re: Lets Make Some New MIDI Hardware

And sucess! So one input (either TRS A or TRS B) that goes into the hc14 for the thru and midi in and the midi outs multed to 3 outputs. If there's and interest, ill jlc some populated boards and make a panel for it.

Re: Setup for High Resolution?

Thanks for the info. I'm a bit green at this as well so how exactly to set up at various resolutions would be very helpful at this stage. Ive go your hard drive running and everything sorted but the viking stuff and I cant seem to find a resource for config. I ordered a 4:3 800x600 thats a bit meh but do have a 1024x600 IPS thing thats looking good

Re: Lets Make Some New MIDI Hardware

so you dont have to daisy chain ;) Couple of those boards should be landing here soon so I'll see how it works.

My other idea is to get some macro keyboards to make some quick launch controls like transport and whatever shortcuts. there are 5x2 ones on amazon for $25 that will take relegendable keycaps

Re: Lets Make Some New MIDI Hardware

so on second thought, making a shield for this doesnt make any sense since a majority of people already have the user port so i'll simply go stand alone. This is the basic premise but scaled up

Lets Make Some New MIDI Hardware

Greetings list! very excited about this, i dreamt of doing this years ago when i read about FPGAs being able to replicate old hardware and here now it is. So my interest is mostly music focused and ive been pouring over the possibilities of a bit more capable MIDI interface. Ive been looking over the history of 3rd party stuff and nothing jumps out...
