Re: Irem M92 Core Available

I just made it through the second stage on the US version without any graphical issues or slowdown. This is certainly different behavior than what I saw when playing the world version which would show graphical problems and slowdown consistently in the first stage. Not sure why it is acting this way, but I’ll keep playing the US version and write b...

Re: Irem M92 Core Available

Make sure there are no other IremM92 files in the _arcade/cores directory. I just checked….the only irem .rbf files in the _Arcade/cores directory are as follows: IremM62_20230226.rbf IremM72_20230227.rbf IremM92_20230510.rbf I’m going to try to US version in alternatives and see if that behaves differently than the world version that plays by def...

Re: Irem M92 Core Available

Can you provide a list of files that need to be removed? I deleted the following: Iremm92 0510 .rbf from the _arcade/cores directory Irem m92 associated game .mra files form the _arcade directory (gun force, ninja baseball Batman, in the hunt, etc) Irem m92 associated alternative game .mra files from the _arcade/alternatives directory Irem m92 asso...

Re: Irem M92 Core Available

So, I have manually updated the files and all the video glitches in In The Hunt have gone. However, when I play Dream Soccer I can still see just a few of them. Occassionally roughly a quarter of the screen gets all black and when the ball gets out in the proximity of the other team goalkeeper the right part of the screen starts flickering. I will...

Re: Arcade Cabinet builds and MisterCades: DIY, custom made orders, conversions, etc.

Here’s my build and final result from 2006. MiSTer is just so good now it’s warranting further investment in this cabinet. Believe it or not, that little guy in the picture is now a college graduate!

Re: Arcade Cabinet builds and MisterCades: DIY, custom made orders, conversions, etc.

Hi all, I’m about ready to invest in a JAMMA solution to install MiSTer into a custom built MAME cabinet. I would like the ability to dual use the cabinet for both MAME (connected via PC/iPAC4) and MiSTer (connected via JAMMA harness) with minimal rewiring. I found a .187” spade terminal “splitter” which has 1 female and 2 male connections that sho...

Re: LG C9 OLED & 1920x1440p

No luck with the VGA connection. I still get snow and a locked up MiSTer when trying to achieve the 1440p settings. VGA worked fine for the 1536x1200 resolution (same as the HDMI input). So now I’m left to believe that there’s either something wrong with the miSTer settings, or the monitor. Monitor is displaying the correct resolution and timings w...

Re: LG C9 OLED & 1920x1440p

Maybe I’m answering my own question here, but from what I’ve read on the Atari forums, it appears as though the MiSTer’s pixel clock is limited to 165MHz over HDMI, which is how I have my monitor connected. I’ll see if I can dig up a VGA cable tomorrow and try to see if that solves the problem. Does anyone have a custom modeline for 1920x1440 at 60...

Re: LG C9 OLED & 1920x1440p

Same problem here guys... I've tried the following on my Acer ET322QU 32" FreeSync monitor and all I get is "snow", but the monitor's information display correctly shows 1920x1440@60Hz. Not sure what's gong on, but it certainly is frustrating. ;video_mode=12 - SNOW (Locks up MiSTER and have to power cycle) ;video_mode=1920,48,32,80,1...

Re: Freesync?

Vsync_adjust=2 is defiantly producing the intended effect! I’m having problems with the power on MiSTer menu with the display not holding. I tried several video_modes attempting to create a 1920x1440 display, but the monitor keeps losing sync. Does anyone have a good 1920x1440 modeline that you’d like to share? I’ve tried: video_mode=1920,48,32,112...

Re: Freesync?

Hi all, I assume that you’re all using the HDMI port on the freesync monitors vs the VGA (DB15) port. I’ve got an analog IO board on my MiSTer which I have running to my 27” Sony CRT TV. This works beautifully for most horizontal based 240p games. I run the HDMI out to my Acer ET322QU monitor, but couldn’t get it to show anything other than 60fps w...

Re: Direct Video HDMI to Component CRT 480i TV

Thorr/Slaps, After playing around with my config this weekend, I’ve decided to revert back to my analog IO board for YPbPr output to my Sony CRT TV. I honestly can’t really tell a difference (which is a testiment for how good the J-TECH converter is). I’ve only had it since this past Wednesday. With that said, I’m looking to sell off the J-TECH HD...

Re: Direct Video HDMI to Component CRT 480i TV

Hi Bret, you can easily switch between ini files through the onscreen display. Press the Menu button a couple of times from your controller (or Esc on a keyboard) to toggle between the two menus (one lets you select your core, the other lets you make general changes). Move left to see the Information menu. Move up and select the config you want. I...

Re: Direct Video HDMI to Component CRT 480i TV

Thanks for that link Thorr, I've also seen a few that look identical on Aliexpress and Amazon. Also thanks for the offer Tofana. I was under the impression that the DB15 connector was only on the Analog I/O board ... I have Digital boards on both of my MiSTers. Do you have a Digital with a DB15? Slaps, you’re correct...my bad. Re: Direct Video HDMI to Component CRT 480i TV

Slapps, It looks like I may have snagged the last one. Based off of my recent testing, it looks like I might not even need it as the Digital I/O board's YPbPr output from it's DB15 connector seems to be providing a similar result to the J-TECH Digital HDMI to YPbPr converter box. I'll continue to play with it over the weekend. If it does turn out t...

Re: Direct Video HDMI to Component CRT 480i TV

Hi Bret, I spent some time on this tonight trying to get Donkey Kong to work again but was unsuccessful. The old cores don't seem to want to work when I copy the files to the Mister. Maybe I am doing something wrong. Mappy works fine like you said because they didn't implement the scaler changes to that core. 1942 is a Jotego core I think and does...

Re: Direct Video HDMI to Component CRT 480i TV

Thanks Thorr, I was able to get vertical games such as 1942 and Mappy working well via the J-Tech converter. Obviously 480i via s-video would likely look better for these as you've already mentioned, however, it's already crazy enough behind by Sony CRT, so dropping in another HDMI switch and HMDI to S-video converter might push me over the edge. I...

Re: Direct Video HDMI to Component CRT 480i TV

I figured it out. I needed to set “YPbPr=0” in the Mister ini file. Looks good now! I forgot that it was outputting over HDMI then getting converted in the external box to component. Now to see if I can get the vertical games to rotate on my CRT!

Re: Direct Video HDMI to Component CRT 480i TV

Update: I received the afore mentioned J-Tech Digital HDMI to component converter and have it hooked up as directed. Unfortunately, my output has a heavy green tint (I.e. whites are green). I tried swapping out both component and HDMI cables, but no luck. When I switch the converter box from VGA output to Component output via the front switch, the ...

Re: Direct Video HDMI to Component CRT 480i TV

So what was the solution? I’ve got terrible screen tearing. Looks like a resolution problem with the various CRT settings (e.g. frequency, back porch, etc). Thanks for any help. I’m using a Sony WEGA 27” CRT connected via component through the MISTER IO board.

Thanks,

Wells Gardner D9200 monitor VGA settings

Hi All, I’ve got a custom built MAME cabinet that I outfitted back in 2005 with a 27” Wells Gardner D9200 monitor. This beast is a multi-sync monitor capable of supporting a variety of resolutions and frame rates. I’d love to be able to connect my MiSTer FPGA to it and run at the native resolutions and refresh rates supported by each core, however ...
