Re: 0MHz DOS Collection 2024.03.20 Released

My motivation is mostly to have DOS games play as pixel art on Super Attract Mode since I don't have much time to play these days, so having no manuals etc is no problem for me. If it's important for you to offer people an option to download games individually I will not look into other ways to support your archive list specifically. Very well, I'...

Re: 0MHz DOS Collection 2024.03.20 Released

I tried to only include mister teas collection, but didn't find a good way to parse lists on archive. If someone has an idea how to access lists with shell tools I'd like to know. I limited the selection to only include "-0mhz" files which is the naming convention Mister Tea seems to use... My releases are intended for individual downloa...

Re: 0MHz DOS Collection 2024.03.20 Released

Thanks! So from what I understand not all games in https://archive.org/search?query=0MHz+DOS+Collection&sort=-publicdate are included in the 0mhz "official" Archive.org but all of theme are 0mhz compatible aka VHD autobootable? Correct. Not "official" but should work as if they are. That link contains games uploaded from va...

Re: 0MHz DOS Collection 2024.03.20 Released

I've noticed a number of people have been requesting games that already exist from the 0MHz Addons. (Addons are games not in the main collection but are compatible with 0MHz). These can be added to the MiSTer the same way as the 0MHz games: https://archive.org/search?query=0MHz+DOS+Collection&sort=-publicdate Note: Not all of them are packaged ...

Re: 0MHz DOS Collection 2024.03.20 Released

I'll dig into the code for a bit.. If there really are things in the core that are unreachable from SYSCTL, I'll submit a PR to get that rectified. The C program looks simple enough. I'll just have to hunt for the twiddly bits in the core's code fore a bit because I don't know any HDL. Thanks, I took a look at the code and it appears to write a ha...

Re: 0MHz DOS Collection 2024.03.20 Released

Something I noticed is that these settings only flip once from within DOS and I need to reset the the core for them to work again. Not something I spent a lot of time on though so I may be wrong and I usually reset my core anyway because of the single game VHD's I use. I haven't had any real issues developing DOSContainer. No worries. And yes, the...

Re: 0MHz DOS Collection 2024.03.20 Released

Those presets are just combinations of clock and cache settings. Those are all available from SYSCTL. How do you know this? At first I assumed that to be the case, however it doesn't appear correct after having done speed measurements using Norton Utilities (NU7 and NU8) SYSINFO and another benchmark program (SPEEDTST). For example, with 'SYSCTL S...

Re: 0MHz DOS Collection 2024.03.20 Released

I am not sure I understand. It is period correct. Sound Blaster has many versions the original plays mono sound, the Sound Blaster Pro could do stereo so which is period correct? Did you read the notes correctly? Option 6) plays Sound Blaster music. It's an alternative driver option that exists when you start the game. Maybe you need to give it a ...

Re: 0MHz DOS Collection 2024.03.20 Released

Here's a version that uses eXoDOS v6 , plays music without the pops/clicks, uses a larger VHD for extra HDD space. https://archive.org/details/civilization-0mhz Cheers, Using option 6 for custom sound? My issue is that I distinctly remember the soundblaster/Adlib sound version being period correct, the custom drivers sound wrong to me. Better in s...

Re: 0MHz DOS Collection 2024.03.20 Released

Is this where we're posting our own creations to be included in the collection? https://archive.org/details/tempest2000_0mhz I believe there will be a 0MHz Addons where we can contribute games that are not on the official list. Not sure how it will be set up yet. Made some that I felt were missing from the official list or preferred a different ve...

Re: 0MHz DOS Collection 2024.03.20 Released

Issues relating to the main collection- Both versions of Civilization run like molasses. :( The torrent is distributing borked files that fail CRC checks on export. How were you able to fix these? -=Emubastard=- Here's a version that uses eXoDOS v6 , plays music without the pops/clicks, uses a larger VHD for extra HDD space. https://archive.org/de...

Re: 0MHz DOS Collection 2024.03.20 Released

How do game saves work? Are they in each individual VHD? What if I wanted to backup the game saves of all installed games? Save game files are stored on each individual VHD (Virtual Hard Disk) that is mounted as Drive C: (IDE 0-0) because this is where the game files are stored. Some games allow you to choose a different drive to save to, but gene...

Re: 0MHz DOS Collection 2024.03.20 Released

I'm not sure if this was discussed before, but the setup/install/configuration files are missing so sound options and such cannot be changed by the user without importing files or other extra work. I'm curious about the decision behind this. I believe these setup files are small/tiny and serve a very useful purpose for those who want to change set...

Re: 0MHz DOS Collection 2024.03.20 Released

Hi, This 0MHz DOS Collection release is great. There's a lot to love and I'm looking forward to see how this develops. I'd like to share some potential issues that I've noticed with a few games I tried. The Colonization package (Colonization.zip) file is around 155MiB most of which is the colonization.chd file which is not even used. This file only...
