I bought a HORI Fighting Commander OCTA, which maps pretty well to the Nintendo 64 controller:

I have kept adding MiSTer game recordings to my list, which now contains 200 videos. Beginner's Guide to Creating Amiga WB1.3 Hard Disk File (HDF)
I wanted to make a custom HDF file with a particular version of SimCity, and ended up writing a little step-by-step guide for creating a new Workbench 1.3 HDF using WinUAE:

Let me know if I made any mistakes, or if you think the guide was helpful.

Re: MiSTer Game Videos on YouTube
Hi, I was wondering what .ini/core settings you're using for capture? I get occasional drops from my capture for a few different cores, the PSX beta core seems to drop a lot during boot for me. For Example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UHmcd7fjdHc Thanks, keep up the nice work - just subbed to your YT, btw! I'm sorry, I missed your reply. I can...

Re: MiSTer Game Videos on YouTube
Since my last post I have uploaded a bunch of videos, most recently a test recording of the WIP PSX core. The next 3 days I will upload a PSX recording every day: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLEXiKm54CARSHwuipDw4px5GPxZz1t-SY Inspired by Microsoft's latests big purchase, I recorded a bunch of Atari 2600 games developed by Activision: http...

Re: Commodore 1084 emulation using shadow masks and scanlines
I took a macro photo of the display of my 1084 and it has a slot mask pattern (also referred to as JVC in the shadow mask patterns). Thank you, this is fantastic, better than I hoped for! I will test out some of the JVC masks to see how close they get. My nano/subpixelslot pattern, seen above, comes pretty close on a sub pixel level. This is a mac...

Commodore 1084 emulation using shadow masks and scanlines
I used to have a Commodore 1084 for my Amiga. What would be the shadow mask / scanline filters that most closely approximates a monitor like that?

Re: Classic Synth Cores?
I dream about open source implementations of classic digital synthesizers and samplers. We already have near perfect emulation of a bunch of synth chips in the consoles and arcade machines, including the type of Yamaha FM chip that is used in the DX-7, so it doesn't seem completely far fetched. The MAME team have worked on a few of them, but most d...

Re: X68000 Beta - Updates and Releases
I think the core from this post is more recent: https://misterfpga.org/viewtopic.php?p=20090#p20090 Can you point me in a direction how you found the tonton hdf files? I tried the MIDI core, but music didn't seem to work out of the box, so I switched to the other one. Maybe I just need to configure it correctly, but it's a bit confusing for someon...

Re: X68000 Beta - Updates and Releases
I managed to get started. Since it could be useful for other newcomers, I'll post how I got a few games to run: I used the 2020-09-13 version of the core (linked from this forum thread ): x68000_20200913.rar I installed the RBF in /media/fat/_Computer , and moved x68000.rom to /media/fat/games/X68000/boot.rom I put a disk image 'Tonton *.hdf' in th...

Re: X68000 Beta - Updates and Releases
Hey! I've been thinking about trying out the X68000 core, but I need some help: 1. Is this a good time to try this out if you don't know much about the X68000, or should I wait for an updated core? 2. Where do I get the newest/best core? Is there one that's better than the official distribution? 3. How do I run a game on it? Is there a good guide f...

Re: MiSTer game videos on YouTube
Try 720p output on both ends (mister.ini and the capture input) or 720p --> 1440p capture to mitigate the shimmering of dithered parts like at the top and bottom of your Street Fighter Alpha 2 video. I've messed around with it before, and I saw decent results awhile ago, I need to revisit that and find a good setting. I use a USB Magewell HDMI Gen...

Re: MiSTer game videos on YouTube
Cool! What's your capture setup? I've been interested in doing this myself but have no clue where to begin. I run the MiSTer HDMI output through an Elgato 4K60 S+ (a standalone device that records to an SD card), recording in 1080p 60FPS. I've tried recording stuff in 50FPS, but it caused issues, so I mostly stick to 60FPS for now. The recording i...

Re: Individually Bootable VHDs for Each Game
There are thousands of DOS games, but back in the day (I ran DOS for gaming back in the 90s) the only real options I ever had to deal with were: * a config with XMS via himem.sys and no EMS * a config with XMS and EMS via EMM386 * a config with no memory management for maybe 0.1% of software that used its own memory manager and could don't coexist...

Re: Individually Bootable VHDs for Each Game
if it will ease the way you start the games, this manner to proceed will end to something too close to the console and not a computer use like it was back in the day. Yeah, I think you hit the nail on the head, kathleen. I think I *do* want a DOS console, even though that sounds so wrong! :) I have researched tools for creating the bootable VHDs, ...
