Actually I think the problem is with the input on the computer line-in picking up noise from the motherboard (integral audio). I've also tried a USB sound device for input but it's really cheap so I don't think it's good enough. I have been using my old Sony digital Walkman (decent quality mp3/wav player) and has been more successful than not. My ...

Excellent, I still have my old Lynx 96 up in the loft. I'll have to dig out my tapes.

Hmmm, EXT4 formatted drives are recognised and read by the system via Midnight Commander in the usual /media/usb0 but not by the main program.
Wonder if there is any reason, a native Linux FS on a Linux system would make a lot more sense.

Just about to set up an external USB HDD fro the larger Roms. Just a quick question asking which filesystems are supported. Am I safe setting the HDD to be EXT4
