The deprecation of the Asteld/Jovec masks were not done out of any prejudice. We moved to a new attribution and categorization policy and asked creators to update their masks accordingly. There haven't been any handheld test cores with the new Shadow Mask alignment logic yet. [For LCD masks, the positions need to be pixel perfect to create the correct effect.] So fingers crossed everything comes together perfectly day one.

Oh, I forgot to mention: if you have masks based on existing hardware or technology. Adding the date of the original hardware release to your file or folder names is a nice touch. It gives users an added historical context; if they are trying to find something within a certain era.
