Minor Bug SNAC Memory Card Does Not Work With Tonyhax Save

Hello, I found an unbelievably minor bug that's more of a curiosity than anything else. I wanted to use my favourite memory card via snac and when booting into the bios memory card screen the memory card was not found. I was worried my memory card was defective now or worse that for some reason the snac adapter just wiped my card. I was using a dif...

Re: Can Somebody Talk Me Through Guncon Setup Please?

If you get the snac adapter it has a yellow composite terminal outputting the sync. You can use this to strip a sync signal for either a guncon 1 used on the same snac adapter or even a guncon 2.

Re: How to Make Scandoubler FX MiSTer Config Dependent

If you prefer the perfect sharpness of scandoubler, I've found you can get that same sharpness using the scaler if you get the resolutions to perfect integer multiples in both directions and turn off scaling filters (use the apeture grille shadow mask instead.) But that is quite the deep rabbit hole to set up for every core. This sounds like you'r...

How to Make Scandoubler FX MiSTer Config Dependent

Hello, I use my MiSTer on 3 displays. A 31 Khz PC crt is my preferred way where I use VGA and forced scandoubler. I like to use scandoubler effects to get a great scanline effect. I also use a consumer 15Khz CRT via component as well. I also have my OLED via hdmi. When moving from my PC CRT to my OLED, the scandoubler effects look really gross with...

Re: GunCon 2 Dropping Inputs

I use the GunCon 2 in conjunction with the original GunCon with no issues. You may need to increase the brightness of your screen or you may have an under powered power supply. Are you using a powered USB hub with a decent power supply? I'm using one of those USB hubs that draws power using those little prongs from underneath the mainboard. I did ...

Re: Does the Ultimate Deamon 2x Sega Saturn Adapter Work on the PS4 or PS5?

I would expect not; especially PS5 as sony has a stick up their arse forcing everyone to buy new DualSense controllers; I love the tech but hate the restrictions for extra controllers.

Re: GunCon 2 Dropping Inputs

Hmm my issues are definitely not as bad. I'm also using it baked in I just mean it's due to this work being merged into the Mister mainline repo that I'm using it.

But yeah, I can go to the calibration screen, see the cursor follow my aim pretty accurately. Generally if a shot hits, it's hitting on target.

GunCon 2 Dropping Inputs

So I was playing Point Blank on PSX using a guncon 2 with the driver supplied here https://github.com/NolanNicholson/GunCon2-MiSTer and I found that often when I`m shooting rapidly (as you do in Point Blank) the screen will flash with every shot but many of the shots won`t hit the screen. I can tell because I don`t see the little hitbox of the bull...

Re: Any Hope for SNAC Control but Virtual Memcard?

The Dualsense 5 controllers in wired mode are very low latency, something like 2ms, so you might not notice the difference if you bought one and switched away from SNAC. It's not as authentic-feeling, but at least it's still a Playstation controller, albeit evolved. i've been almost exclusively using the Dualsense for console and arcade cores (exc...

Re: Any Hope for SNAC Control but Virtual Memcard?

Multitap + real memory card works well though I guess you will run out of space eventually. It'd be great if they'd let you backup your real memory card in the system menu by copying to a virtual card on slot 2 from the memory card boot menu.

Are SNAC adapters from AliExpress reliable?

I'm thinking about dipping my toe into SNAC and getting a NES and PSX snac adapter. I have a daemonbite triple already but it would be cool for a Zapper/Guncon 1 or heck even getting myself an NGCon for RidgeRacer. I got my USB board/ analog IO board from a reputable site that wasn't aliexpress and for the video IO board in particular I thought the...

Re: Can SNAC Zapper Work on 31Khz VGA CRT Monitor

Is it tuned to 15Khz? I thought the way it defeats "lightbulbs" from hacking it wasnt through any sort of frequency but just noticing the black frame before the light frame. Basically when you fire a shot the screen turns totally black, and then only the targets are white. So it has to measure black and then white to be a hit. With multip...

Re: 2 Button Controller Options

I've been using a daemonbite adapter with a nes controller on all 2 button games. The dpad on the nes is fantastic; it's got a great pivot and the buttons are surprisingly clicky and easy to rapidly press. Even the "sharp" corners help me focus better. Even for non-3 button systems, if the game is 2 button I'll usually use this controller...

Can SNAC Zapper Work on 31Khz VGA CRT Monitor

I know the obvious answer to anything lightgun related is simple: it will never work on ANYTHING that isn't your standard consumer 15Khz CRT. I can see why this necessary for two reasons: 1 the lag and 2 the sync signal. With the guncon 2 you strip the sync signal and that gets used to infer when the frame starts drawing, from there the precise tim...

Thoughts on this power supply?

I'm up in Canada so the standard pitches of power supplies to buy usually are US links or are slightly more expensive than I"d like. I saw this and I think it's the right stats and I'm curious if anyone has gotten this one:

Re: Variable Refresh Rate support added thanks to zakk4223

Awesome stuff though it breaks my heart that black frame insertion won't be combinable with VRR on my LG OLED. I guess I'll only use it on cores with really strange timings (or more likely just use a CRT for those). BFI is basically required for 2d scrolling games to not look terrible.

Re: PSX via VGA to PC CRT 31 Khz Monitor not Working

does the VGA scaler option introduce scaling artifacts? The results of the ini settings I took from this topic are excellent though I noticed some odd looking text in Ridge Racer 4. I wasn't sure if that was the source or a possible scaling artifact. Obviously in other classic 240p cores this is a non-issue since we're just line doubling to get to ...

Re: PSX via VGA to PC CRT 31 Khz Monitor not Working

Are you sure its a 31khz monitor? If 68000 is working, thats a 15khz core and i cant get that one to work correctly on my VGA monitor (but ps1 works fine) and mine is 30hz Oh I should have clarified I had a custom header for that core to disable the scandoubler and just get 31khz directly from the core: [X68000] forced_scandoubler=0 ; set to 1 to ...

PSX via VGA to PC CRT 31 Khz Monitor not Working

Hello, I just got a PC 31 KHz monitor and it's been amazing for every core. It's like what I dreamed a PVM would be. Only issue is, I can't get the PSX core working on it. Genesis/arcade cores/snes/x86000 and others are all working fine but PSX gives a blank screen. Does anyone have any verified settings for getting output to a 31KHz monitor via th...

Analog IO Board YPbPr Incorrectly going to RGB Full Range

Something that has really been bothering me is that the analog YPbPr output is in full range and I can't seem to limit it. It's a huge issue because old CRTs are based around the limited range and old consoles also display in it. The easiest place to see it is in the grey ramp on the 240p test suite. There's a cutoff on the near black values where ...
