There is a PS1 port of Race Drivin' (Race Drivin' a Go! Go!) if anyone wants to check it out in the meantime.

Re: Wishlist of Cores You Would Like to See in the Future

Nice list, good idea. I suggest colouring the completed cores in green (and maybe WIP in yellow?); it would make it much easier to parse visually. I did that for the Arcade Core list. The 'All Other Core' list already had something like that in place. Great, looks good. Just a couple corrections: Battlezone is actually WIP, thread here: https://mi...

Re: Wishlist of Cores You Would Like to See in the Future

Hello all! Got into MiSTer maybe 18 months ago and discovered this thread. Always found it interesting so I decided to compile all the requests into a spreadsheet. Big thanks to moondandy for his help; I did a quick comparison on some pages against his list. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1ECNIc8bqBTvmK2AXZQ3OxdePVhMWwEbzoT799wAqVkc/edit?u...

Re: Would love to see a Mat Mania – The Prowrestling Network arcade core!

Wow, it's rare that I forget a game I've played often when I was younger, but somehow this totally slipped out of my mind. Watching a video now, all the music came back to me instantly. The funny thing is I still say "oone... twoo... REEEE!" to this day, without remembering where it was from. In any case, I'd love to see a core for this a...

Re: Taito Egret II Mini Rollerball/Spinner Controller

Oh ok yes in the main osd yes. But that first press is only for the system to identify which controller you want, it does set any button to any dpad direction. Unfortunately it does map whatever button you initially push, as you can't map that button subsequently during the same button mapping process (it treats it as already mapped and ignores it...

btw is there a list of all the games you can use the roller and spinner? i can seem to get the rollerball working? is there also settings i need to set before it works? If you have enabled the spinner settings for this controller in mister.ini, it will no longer be seen as a mouse so the trackball will not work. I add a section in mister.ini per c...

Re: Taito Egret II Mini Rollerball/Spinner Controller

Sorry if this has been asked before, but is there a possibility to use the Taito Egret spinner in combination with an arcade stick to play something like "Forgotten Worlds"? The problem I have at the moment is that the arcade stick and the Taito spinner have a different Joystick ID, so the arcade stick is detected as player 1 and the Tai...

Re: Taito Egret II Mini Rollerball/Spinner Controller

The spinner works perfectly for Arkanoid, very responsive. I recommend fine tuning the throttle level in mister.ini until it feels comfortable, you can adjust it per game/core by adding the appropriate section in the ini as mentioned above. The only issue I have now with the controller is that the trackball is too slow; in Centipede for example eve...

Re: Taito Egret II Mini Rollerball/Spinner Controller

There is a way around this though. Switching out to one of your Mister Config Alt files also does the trick. Not a flawless solution, but one that's much more convenient than having to edit the Ini file every time you want to use the Egret 2 controller's Spinner. I find it's better to just add a section in the ini for the few games that use the sp...

yeha it's working!
do you know how to set insert coin/start/fire buttons?

You need to map the buttons in the main mister menu core first, just assign the buttons and skip everything else (don't need to map the spinner).

After that, the buttons can be mapped and used in any other core.

Can anyone share the MiSTer_alt_1.ini from atrac17? Link is down :( You can still find them here: https://github.com/atrac17/Integer_Video_Modes/ However you can pretty much replicate this for the iPad screen now using video_mode=13 plus one of the 2 new vscale modes (vscale_mode=4 or vscale_mode=5), rendering these modelines not strictly necessar...

Jotego deleted "Gun Smoke.mra" (the bad one) from the repository. Once Distribution MISTer is updated running update all will delete this bad boy forever.
On the other hand "Gun Smoke" is still "Gun.Smoke".

Gun.Smoke is the actual name of the arcade game.

If you think you can do better, go ahead and learn how to make cores yourself I guess. All you are doing by complaining is making other devs and prospective devs not want to be involved in this community. I think the issue here is not the typical "entitled users making demands regarding what a hobbyist developer should do with his free time&q...

Asteroids is my first memory of playing a non-pinball arcade game, some time around the summer of 1980. My friend’s father took us to a dingy bar, and while he drank gave us money for ice cream and quarters for Asteroids. I remember being totally entranced by that vector display; it did feel magical! Vector games were great, played a lot of Battlez...

Aren't these super dim if you run them from 5v instead of 12v. Not sure why you would want to power it with usb when you lose so much by not using the 12v port. Mine is perfectly bright at 5v, no noticeable difference from the 12v included adapter (I'm powering directly from a quality 5v multi-charger though, not a port on a USB hub). This is the ...

Update: the culprit was that pesky names.txt file.. I turned it off in the update_all settings and everything is back to normal. My core names aren't as beautiful but I can live with that. I considered changing the Gyruss entry in the names.txt file but soon realized there's quite a few other cores that have been renamed in a similar way, e.g. Tai...

It's surprising how many laggy USB controllers are out there.

The DualShock 3 is particularly laggy compared to other Sony controllers, even wired.

Disappointing as I have 4 of them and they work well for the PS1 core, being quite close to the DS1 form factor.

This question is a simple run through of the most modern ROM pack available online being in the 7zip formate, which MiSTer cannot handle (currently).

The simple answer is that 99.9% of people using ROMs don’t use or care about MiSTer. They are using a PC, Raspberry Pi, or some other device for emulation with Retroarch, etc.

Yeah, that is not going to work. Making custom cables in general is a bad idea without a thorough understanding of what's at play, cables are very complicated things these days. The cable works fine for what it's intended for, 5V, lowish current from a regular USB port. I've troubleshooted and repaired cellphones, TVs, monitors and arcade boards, ...
