Re: Taito Egret II Mini Rollerball/Spinner Controller

Nope. Within the core you can skip every button you want, even the first to the right. Just press the menu button you assigned in the main OSD to skip any prompt. see video attached. Please check on your own mister what you claim before you answer here again. Thanks Thanks. This is useful information. I do not think it is necessary to be so harsh ...

Re: Incompatible Case Button Spacers & IO Board?

I do not think that ultimatemister sell button spacers. The case that I bought from them does not use such spacers. Instead it has a separate set of buttons on the top plate that are connected to the 5 pin header on the io board.

Have you considered manually trimming the height of the spacers that you have?

Re: Set NES to PAL/NTSC/Dendy via .mgl?

It is perhaps not exactly what you want, but you could use "setname" to give each region its own configuration files and game folder. For example: <mistergamedescription> <rbf>_Console/NES</rbf> <setname>NESPAL</setname> <file delay="1" type="f" index="0" path="Elite (Europe) (En,Fr,De).nes"/> </mis...

Re: Taito Egret II Mini Rollerball/Spinner Controller

I was actually referring to mapping within a core, not MiSTer main. The very first command (usually right) can't be skipped, so you need to press one of the five buttons on the controller to proceed. Once you have done that, further commands (directions, etc.) can be skipped, but the button that was pressed initially can't be assigned to anything ...

Re: Taito Egret II Mini Rollerball/Spinner Controller

I wanted to use the rollerball as a mouse in the SNES core. The rollerball itself works out of the box if mouse input is enabled in the core menu. The issue is mapping the mouse buttons. I found a workaround by using the mouse emulation feature: In the main menu, go to define joystick buttons Press one of the small buttons as Right in the DPAD test...

Does one need to keep one of the 5 buttons mapped to "Right" or could one erase the mapping as lamarax seems to suggest?

After identifying the device by assigning Right, you press F12 instead of assigning Left. Then you get back to start and can undefine Right. Obviously

Re: Taito Egret II Mini Rollerball/Spinner Controller

A common mistake when initializing the controller setup in the menu, is using a different controller or the keyboard to define buttons. Once you go in the setup screen, just push one of the Taito mini buttons to let MiSTer know of the vid:pid id of the particular controller; then erase it and skip functions according with what's available. Push an...

Re: Genesis Core Savestates

There is only one developer who has implemented savestates, and he is busy with a new core. So it will likely not be added to the Genesis core in the near future. With regard to saving backup RAM, just set autosave to "On". The saved data will then be written to the SD card each time you open the OSD. Of course, it is only of use to games...

Arcade cores are loaded through MRA files which can be downloaded at the same place as the RBF files. In names.txt, you then use the name of the MRA file instead of the RBF file.

Re: So Robert Peip (FPGAzumSpass) Is Working on a New Core...

This line here is curious "I can tell you it's using different width for different subsystems :)" - does he mean that the core covers different systems (i.e. how the Master System core also covers Game Gear) or is this a technical thing I don't understand? Look at a PC; they call Pentium a 64-bit system, it is, but they also have 8-bit c...

Re: MiSTer screen freezes when connecting analog audio to Dell soundbar

Some ideas for narrowing down the problem:

  • Is DVI mode enabled in the ini file?

    Code: Select all

; set to 1 for DVI mode. Audio won't be transmitted through HDMI in DVI mode.
    dvi_mode=1

  • Have you tried connecting another audio device such as head phones?
  • Have you tried using the Dell soundbar together with your main display (with DVI mode enabled)?

Unless he gets second thoughts, the new option should be available in the next MiSTer release. You will need to sacrifice the autofire feature though.

There are some cheat codes that I can share...

Sound Test
At the title screen, press I, II and Run.

Start with 100 000 power (10 lives)
At the title screen, press II, I and Select. You will hear a chime. Then press Run to start the game with some extra "power".

Check that you are using the latest Linux built. Regarding Spanish keyboard layout, you can try remapping the relevant keys through the main menu as suggested here:...
