I only remember that the fight was quick and easy. Perhaps the cleria ring protected me. Did you find that item and enable it?

Re: Ys Book II Bug?
I played this part of the game the other day and easily beat the first boss using fire magic. Perhaps you missed picking up the relevant magic staff before battle.

Re: R-Type Frequency Too Low Help
It might not be the solution that you are looking for, but you can edit MiSTer.ini to use vscale_mode=0 for this specific core.
Code: Select all
[M72]
vsync_adjust=0
vrr_mode=0

Check the screen format adjustment on your TV. On a Philips, I believe that you want to set it to "Auto Format".

I am excited trying out this obscurity. What is the core name that should be used for the game directory? Does it require any boot rom?

Re: Zipped Folders with MiSTer
Assuming that you want to convert the archives on a linux PC (and not in MiSTer), you can install p7zip which can handle both 7z and zip. If you want to do it in batch, see for example this script: Convert a batch of 7z files to zip.

I believe that the maximum map size in The Settlers is also determined by the available RAM. Check your settings in the core menu.

An I/O board has the advantages that it fits official cases and can hold a cooling fan, which you might want to add in the future.

Re: HDMI Game Mode
I think all it does is tell your TV to automatically activate “Game Mode” if it has one. If you already manually turn on your TV’s game mode, then this option is useless. Based on some googling, I am guessing that the option refers to Auto Low Latency Mode ( ALLM ) which fits your description. The DE-10 does not have HDMI 2.1 so i´m pretty sure th...

HDMI Game Mode
I am curious about the new HDMI game mode option in the ini file: ; Enable game mode on HDMI output. It may give you better optimization on some displays, but also ; can give worse result on others. Default is 0 (non-game). ;hdmi_game_mode=1 How can one tell whether it improves the performance or not? Does it require that the display utilizes HDMI ...

Re: Pop Up Menu Automatically Populates?
Do you only have one boot rom? Which one? There can be up to four.
I have the FDS bios as boot0.rom and and a cartridge rom (240p test suite) as boot1.rom. With this setup, the core launches boot1.rom automatically and does not show the core menu unless I press the menu button.

Re: Pop Up Menu Automatically Populates?
Do you mean the core menu? If you place a cartridge rom named boot1.rom in the NES directory, MiSTer will load it directly without opening the core menu. If you for whatever reason just want a black screen, you could try using a blank rom.

Re: Best Version of Original R-Type Playable On MiSTer?
My own preference is the Turbografx-16 version since I like its sound. One can reduce the sprite flicker by enabling extra sprites per line in the core menu.

Re: Editing Cheat Files?
The cheat files can be edited in a hex editor (e.g. HxD). See the wiki page for a specification of the format.
For changing a modifier value, you can read the corresponding info/notes for the cheat on gamehacking.org.

It seems like you have not set the time zone but are using the default UTC. Try copying /usr/share/zoneinfo/posix/Europe/London to /media/fat/linux/timezone. See https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/Main_Mi ... sage-notes. Alternatively, run the script timezone.sh from the MiSTer menu.

I doubt that it will be implemented in the current MSX core since it does not directly load roms. However, perhaps you can make a feature request to Molekula's new MSX1 core.

Re: Can you 5x scaling on console cores but have integer scaled arcade cores?
I use both console and arcade cores on a 1080p tv and have just tried the 5x scaling option which is great on console cores. However seeing as the arcade cores don't have a 5x scaling option they all scale to fit screen height. Is there a way to have them integer scale whilst keeping the console 5x scale? Yes, see https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/M...

Re: Cheats with patched ROMs?
To get back the cheat menu, it is sufficient to rename either the ROM or the ZIP file with the cheats so that the names match. However, the cheats will most likely not work since these SA hacks change the binary code quite a lot.

How do you "roll" it back without disrupting all the previous updates on the other cores? Sorry but I cannot help you since I do not use update scripts myself. I do not know if the scripts keep the old versions by default. Consider whether it is worth the trouble. It might be easiest to make do without Shinobi until the finished System 1...

Yes, if you want to use the latest beta version. Alternatively, you could revert back to the version that you had before and wait to update it until Jotego releases the finished core to the public.

Jotego's cores have their inputs locked while in beta phase unless you are a Patreon supporter, see link. This was not implemented in the very first released beta versions of the System 16 core but is now.

To be sure that there is no leftover alternate button configuration, it might be an idea to access the configuration and "undefine" each alternate button.

Gunpey on the WonderSwan is one of my absolute favorite games (the original B/W version, not the sequel EX). Extremely simple puzzle action on the surface but quite deep if one wants to get a grade better than D and a Boooh! It says that 2600 is not yet enabled, which hints that it is a planned feature. Considering that there is already a standalone Atari 2600 core, what would be the advantage of enabling the backwards compatibility for the 7800 core?
