I'm glad that 15Khz is possible. The problem is resolution. I wish the developer could change the resolution to 320X200 or 640X200. Is this possible?

Re: MiSTer PCXT
Is it possible to output CGA 15Khz? I think that CGA graphics card resolution is supported up to 302X200, 640X200, so it is possible to output enough on a general crt monitor or TV. APPLE II core can output 15khz. I wonder if it is possible to make the PCXT core capable of outputting 15Khz.

Re: AdLib Emulation - Missing Percussion?
Some potentially good news. Jotego is working on the Gunbird 2 arcade core. Gunbird 2 is a Psikyo SH2 system. This included the Yamaha OPL4 chipset for FM sound. The Yamaha OPL4 is backwards compatible with OPL3, OPL2, and OPL chips. So Soundblaster Pro, Adlib, and Soundblaster 16 drivers should theoretically work with the OPL4. http://www.system1...

I wonder if the Lion king will run fine on the ao486 without dropping frames. As I recall, lion king was difficult to play because of frame drops. Did a new bios update solve this?

Re: Monochrome mode for ao486
The monochrome (amber/green) screens I remember didn't do gradients very well. That was more the area of what was called VGA Paperwhite monitors in the early 90's but those weren't green or amber. Gradients appear when selecting a vga or ega graphics card. If you choose a cga graphics card, you will get a screen similar to the monchrome monitor yo...

Re: MiSTer PCXT
You miss the fdisk step, I got stumped on this as well before. But I don't understand how you format the image. Because, fdisk is to format floppy drives and format is to format hdd. Then, you rename to .vhd and you mound on ao486 as a hdd (ao486 can't mount .vhd as a floppy), or what do you do? If I try to mount .img as a floppy, same issue, ao48...

Turbo mode is supported on the pcxt core and tandy mode is also supported. Now all that's left is the built-in pcxt IDE module, not the IDE com port script. I believe this will happen soon as well. I wanted to report back that I finally worked through the serdrive disk "Bad Command Checksum" that I have been plagued with from the start of this project. I found a nice slowdown program that works with ao486: http://www.ibiblio.org/pub/micro/pc-stuff/freedos/files/distributions/1.2/repos/pkg-html/slowdown.html It's pretty easy to use, for example to set it at 12Mhz for Death Track: SLOWDOWN.EXE /Mhz486:12 And for Megaman 25Mhz works best: SLOWDOWN.EXE /Mhz486:25 dtrack.png The speed down utility li...

Re: MiSTer PCXT
I insist, it seems strange to me that it is a problem of the UART speed, but is it possible that you are using the experimental 7Mhz version? That might make more sense. In any case, if it's the UART speed, it's not necessary to change the core, in the script set it to 115.2K and it will work anyway, but at the previous speed. I solved it. It was ...

Re: PC 386 and 286 Core Setup Ideas
Here is a first unofficial build release of a monochrome mode for ao486. Don't expect it to be merged ... but I've included the HDL changes in the zip file, if anybody wants to tinker with it. I sacrificed some OSD flags to have space for the Display Mode menu; there are now a few monochrome options, including the original four and some others add...

Re: PC 386 and 286 Core Setup Ideas
memories of having fun with the XT monochrome monitor and hercules I've tried making a monochrome mode for ao486. It's a long shot ... and I may not merge it (I'm by no means a core developer), but it's an interesting experiment. The rbf attached use the same algo as the PCXT core but extended to 8-bit color. It doesn't work well with EGA or VGA y...

Re: PC 386 and 286 Core Setup Ideas
I won't know until this weekend when I try it out myself what the current situation is on ao486 as far as 386 era games, are they not working? That's what I'm wondering too. From various answer in this (and the other thread), I get the impression that one issue is being able to know what settings to use to match some specific 286 and 386 speeds. I...

What version of DOS do you use with pcxt core? I've tried MS-DOS 3.31, MS-DOS 3.31 compaq, MS-DOS 5.0, freedos, and MS-DOS 6.21 in pcxt core. MS-DOS 3.31 has a maximum hdd recognizable capacity of 30MB. The conpaq version recognizes HDDs of more than that capacity so I am using this version. However, unlike the actual XT pc, PCXT core varies the op...

Re: PC 386 and 286 Core Setup Ideas
I saw the ao486 speed-related ticket you organized. However, the "Death track" moderate speed is 10 to 12 MHz, not 8.93Mhz. I don't think ao486 is a core with the right speed for XT and AT pcs. Not right now, but I wonder if we could get it to run at 10Mhz or 12Mhz AT-equivalent speeds with a bit of tweaking on ao486. Perhaps we can try ...
