Re: The Result of My Search for a Great MiSTer Display

@aperfectcirclefan I'm particularly interested in knowing how it handles scaling of non-native resolutions like 720p and 1080p upscaled to 1200 (even more specifically with fake scanlines a la Retroarch scalers, the SNES mini and the like, where I expect distortion to be at its worst). From all accounts unscaled native resolutions look fantastic - ...

Invariably, this kind of problem requires reflow of the MiSTer I/O board pin connections.

Pressing "Y" not "B" when connecting the 8bitdo Pro wired joypad is the key! The rumble feature is verified working in Metal Gear Solid in the Options section. That's a good way of checking. Is yours doing what mine is on that test and vibrating once but not continuously? That's not right. Yes, it vibrates once in either high o...

Re: The Result of My Search for a Great MiSTer Display

To anyone with the Asus ProArt PA248QV: How does it handle 720p and 1080p content? It's clearly near-ideal for MiSTer, but I use my gaming display for other systems as well (RetroPie, classic mini consoles, etc.) that display fake scanlines at 720p and 1080p native resolutions. This works out fine on 1080p (being either a multiplier of 1.5 or 1.0),...

Is your display working normal with the tty2oled daemon script? Yes. Which Hardware do you use (MCU/USB Serial Chip)? How do I tell? It's the one sold here: https://www.antoniovillena.es/store/product/tty2oled/ Do you use the tty2oled mode with „ttyuseack=yes“? Yes, otherwise I get the corruption I described (double-printed text in the center) Six...

The screen corruption with ACKs off isn't just timing issues. When you have the display show game titles, it does interesting things like paint the title name twice, once in the center of the display and again at the top.

Could it be related to cable length? My USB cable to the LCD board is a good six feet.

Run the Ultimate tool (on Windows) and crank the vibration all the way up to 5 bars. It's still VERY weak, but improved over default.

@Dacaskos It definitely does not, because the game, well, doesn't. It's flight stick only (which is a very different animal from any version of Analog pad or Dualshock).

There is at least another game which has known Memory Card saving issues , so looks like there's still some inaccuracies causing issues there. If this is 100% reproducible, then please create an issue on Github! In the process of being VERY pedantic about documenting the issue on github, it actually saved. It appears to be something with the game ...

(following up on my own reply) May have found a bug - "Arcade's Greatest Hits - The Atari Collection 1" simply will not autocreate a memory card, autoload one, or manual or autosave one, period. Where is it creating these empty memory cards?

Sorry for such a basic question, but is tty2oled supposed to do anything outside of SAM? I was expecting that it might change the display to reflect the active core when actually playing games, for example, but that doesn't appear to be the case.

Ignore - just updated restarted and voila, it's doing exactly that! =)

Re: PSX Core Official Release

In most games DualShock controller starts in digital mode for compatibility reasons due to many early games being completely incompatible with the analog mode. You have to switch to analog manually with a button combo (L3+R3+up or L1+L2+R1+R2+up depending on core settings). Duly noted - but shouldn't Analog controllers disable vibration entirely, ...

A bit confused about DualShock vs. Analog settings - in Gran Turismo, analog driving controls are only available in Analog mode (NOT DualShock!)...but vibration still works (if enabled). With the setting of DualShock, vibration works, but no analog control. Am I missing something obvious? My expectation was that DualShock would be analog+vibration ...

OK - on a similar clone I have, it actually radically changes the input mappings, it doesn't just "turn on analog". Still not sure what the purpose is (or how it can be made to work usefully on MiSTer, if at all).

Does the CD-ROM BIOS skip (with 'regular', unmodified BIOS) no longer work? It did for a little bit, but now PC Engine CD BIOS doesn't seem to be auto-bypassing anymore.

@seastalker The OG PS1 controller wasn't DualShock and in fact had no analog at all. It was followed a few years later by a flight controller (yep!), then an analog controller (imagine the DualShock without motors), and finally the DualShock, which more or less became the gold standard design ever since.

boot0.rom
NES.zip
FDS.zip

I think you can guess what each contains. LOL

NES works with SAM, FDS doesn't (but does if launched manually via menu, of course).
